As if he'd put even a penny of that into the club. More likely to use club funds for both those things then pocket any winnings! -

Exactly. None of our transfer business will matter a jot if we don't bring in a better goalkeeper than Pears. We'd be left praying for the miracle of Pears actually having a consistent season, when he's probably never been consistent for a run of more than about 5 or 6 games at his best. -

If you don't know where the doubling came from, you didn't read what you were quoting the first time. -

Again, double 3 is 6. The rest is clauses. We should have been getting 5-6 guaranteed, and still had the clauses. Or at least the sell on. -

That was the previous season. Last season he stayed at Wigan. 38 games, 9 goals. It's a no from me. -

Double what we received up front at the time would be 6 million not 8. As I already said, this isn't hindsight, it was my opinion at the time. And that of others. It was foresight. Just because it wasn't your opinion at the time doesn't make it hindsight. -
This post should have been titled '10 Rovers opinions, and pretty shit ones at that'. Don't call something a truth when it's an opinion please, it's nauseating.

JRC spends a lot of time injured and can be used elsewhere, and Carter will often be needed at CB, especially when injuries hit. So Duru is probably third or fourth choice but might in practice end up second choice if he does well. -

That's not true at all. They do have some form for being stubborn with valuations, but they also have form for selling players below value without a sell on or contract expiry being responsible. Raya, Kaminski, Cairney. Bullshit prices, each of them should have been going for double or more what they did IMO. Not a hindsight thing either, myself and others were critical of those prices at the time. Plenty of us not entirely happy with the Wharton fee either. Held out for a fair fee, considering impending expiry, for Armstrong. Held out for one for Brereton but gauged that wrong and lost him for free. Are there any other examples? Jones maybe, his clause was activated but there were rumours they somehow got a bit more than the clause due to threatening to sue or something. And I guess the Rhodes fee was roughly fair. They perhaps stick to their valuations, but seems to me their valuations are crap roughly half the time. And Cairney was practically pushed out the door, at a time when our finances were performing poorly. Which sounds a bit like now... -

We won't lose Szmodics for free though (or if we do it will be on 3 years when all his best years are gone). I'm sick of us selling players below true worth, so I'll take it. Plus I do think 15 mill to a Prem team is fair (20 is a bit much though) although it's likely we'd have to settle for less, and that we're guaranteed relegation if we sell him. And I don't think he's a throw the toys out the pram type either. So I'm fine with this. Also, fuck Ipswich for their utterly insulting 6 million initial bid (allegedly). -

He had a bag of tricks, you must have needed your eye prescription upgrading. But I suspect the poster is talking about the stepovers. As time has gone on he's stopped a lot of the flashy stuff, but he was a very exciting player to watch in that first season. Hasn't kicked on as much as I'd hoped, but his game has changed nonetheless. -

Careful, people take your words very seriously on here, as our most reliable ITK... that winky face after asking if another saga is on its way will have people thinking you know something, which I don't think is what you meant. Of course, if you have heard another saga is coming, that's a different story... -

I see shutting down debate because the manager has the final say as kowtowing. We're here for discussion. -

I expect a degree of foresight from managers. If they don't have any of that, they're not much use. Mark Hughes had tons of it, Coyle had none of it. We take part in discussion on a message board to discuss the merits of signings and see if we have any foresight of our own. Not to kowtow to the decisions of the manager. We all know he has say in the transfer policy and we don't, it doesn't need pointing out. But if he makes bad decisions he won't last (and most likely neither will our Championship status). What I said before is fact. If it turns out terribly, it will have been a terrible idea. Whether hindsight or foresight. But if someone predicted it was going to happen and it happens, that will have been foresight not hindsight. -

No, what ultimately counts is whether it actually is a terrible idea or not. Eustace's desire to re-sign him counts for whether we do it, but if he has a dire season it will have been a terrible idea. -

I once saw Lorenzo Amoruso overtake Michael Owen in a chase for the ball. Bursts of adrenaline vs tiredness can do a lot in a single situation. Doesn't mean that player is actually quicker overall. -

If being Player of the Season doesn't warrant being one of the highest earners, I'm not sure what does. -
Just for those who think EVs don't have the range etc to be viable...over in China right now, you can get the Zeekr 009. Its best version has a max range of 822 km (510 miles) on a full charge and does 0-62mph in 4.5 seconds despite it being a bit of a unit. It's kind of like a luxury minivan. I can't find how quick this version of it is capable of charging, but the 702km (436 miles) version can charge from 10-80% capacity in just 11.5 minutes with the right charger. So even if you only wanted to charge just over 5 minutes, you could add nearly 150 miles of range. I don't know if/when it will be available in the UK, and the price will likely be unaffordable to anyone reading this (though the very high price is more to do with the luxury element than the battery), but it gives an indication of where the road-ready technology is at. As ever, new technologies take a while to roll out en masse and become affordable to average people, but as ever, it will get there. That's not even the best battery the battery-makers (battery giants CATL, easily the world's biggest battery manufacturer) have created. They have made a 'condensed' battery that can store twice as much energy per kg, at about 500 wh/kg, which is considered high enough to make small commercial electric planes viable, and is currently being tested in planes in China. Claims of super batteries that aren't already out in the world should be treated with some level of scepticism, but this is CATL. They're the kings of the industry, and when they make claims they follow through.

Mostly played as a CF, scored 9 goals in 38 games in League One last season. I don't think I need to say anything else.
