  1. And vice versa. Saying it's beyond doubt, or words to that effect, implies nobody can doubt it. Well they do. It would have been more accurate to say 'I have no doubt he's the greatest'
  2. Ok I've read the earlier posts and know who Barrett is now. No prizes for guessing which of these two we end up with...
  3. Who is Jake Barrett? Saw he is in the Austria preseason squad. Never heard of him.
  4. If people, quite a lot of them, are doubting it, it's in doubt.
  5. Well, I've literally seen people doubting it in this thread. So, yeh, in this case I can.
  6. Even though people are absolutely doubting it.
  7. I think you've misread my post. I was asking if someone is actually claiming to have information about a release clause, or if it's a essentially a chinese whisper as I've seen happen on here many times, where someone speculates and next thing you know half the forum are treating it as gospel. We didn't protect our asset if we gave him a new contract that forces us to sell at a certain price, especially if that price is 6 or 8 million. Rather, we hamstrung ourselves, and paid a nice bonus and a wage bump for the privilege. We still had 2 years of protection, presumably at whatever price we deemed fit. It's shit negotiation.
  8. Has anybody actually quoted a rumour, or claimed inside knowledge, that Sammy has a release clause? All I've seen was a post speculating it, and someone saying they'd heard the club and player had agreed a fee he would be able to leave for (which is not necessarily the same as a contracted release clause) and it seems like some other posters have got carried away with it.
  9. We didn't really need him to if we're selling him this summer.
  10. If I remember rightly, his old deal would have been going into its last 12 months...then had a 12 month extension option. His new deal only added one year of security for the club. If we allowed an 8 mill release clause in that deal we're even fucking dumber than I thought.
  11. Which is a shame if true as it should be more like 10m minimum.
  12. I did some betting on that game, and can confirm we were definitely not odds on favourites to go out. In fact the Spain game is the first one we haven't been favourites for.
  13. It gets used in lots of different ways and isn't clearly defined. The initial idea of the term was to signify you're 'awake' to injustice and inequality. Pretty much nobody calls themselves woke, and it was never particularly mainstream until it became used as an insult towards anything or anybody that seeks to achieve social justice and equality. Because clearly we can't be having that... It also seems to get used just to decry basic human empathy at times. If I explain in any more detail or with more accuracy I'd have to go to the We Did Warn You section...
  14. I doubt it very much, and then you'd still have the extra hurdle of Venkys giving a shit about what the fans think, which they don't.
  15. That would be a pathetic price to receive for guaranteed relegation.
  16. Which keeper is this? Depending on their profile they might not be intended to be one of our main two keepers.
  17. Jesus christ, the colour pink is 'Woke' now too? 🤔 Yawn...I don't like pink football shirts but they've been around since what, the 90s? Nothing to do with being woke.
  18. Having an effect on play has nothing to do with the rules. If someone gets punched off the ball for instance, it's a free kick and a red. It not being part of the play has no relevance.
  19. No, we're lucky because we didn't have to play them, or any team stronger than the Netherlands, until the final. You seem to be struggling with this so I'm just gonna leave you be.
  20. What are you talking about? France didn't proceed as expected, so we didn't have to play them. As we weren't in control of that beyond winning our mediocre group, how is that not lucky? I'm not the one getting things confused here. Reality matters, not potential permutations that didn't happen, of which there are a great many. Feels like you're just stubbornly sticking to what you've said rather than accept what is really very basic and obvious logic.
  21. That late overhead kick didn't feel mediocre.
  22. I'm not getting muddled at all. The 'original' draw is irrelevant. We didn't both proceed as expected, got lucky and once knockouts began had no chance of facing them until the finals.
  23. That must have been a shock to all the teams they played on the other side of the draw.
  24. Jesus christ @Brfcrule1, that's the biggest multipost I've ever seen! Glad you didn't do all of those separately!
  25. Who are? Please tell me you're not talking about Waggott or Venkys.
