  1. Love Earps' reaction to saving that. Wasn't a good penalty, you rarely see them caught.
  2. I really wouldn't. Point blank range, no time to react, natural movement of the arm. One of the worst penalty calls I've seen this year.
  3. Never a penalty. Has to swing her arm out to change momentum.
  4. If the Saudis think football can be worth the investments they're making, I'd say they're being foolish. The money in football all swirls one way - into the pockets of agents and players. World Cups are expensive, and the tourism boons are short-lived and outweighed by the costs. You also have a country where people don't drink - one of the big economic benefits of World Cups etc over here. They absolutely do need to diversify their economy from oil, and tourism can be a contributor, but I think they need to box a lot smarter than relying on football and sport. Neom isn't sounding like it's going to deliver on its initial promise either, could prove to be one of the most expensive follies of all time.
  5. Pure speculation, from a poster who is usually highly averse to speculation.
  6. He didn't need to, because his statement was still unequivocally true.
  7. I've started a petition to have you banned from attending games.
  8. The simple answer is: he plays for Man U. Always been the way.
  9. Hopefully it's just that it's the standard corners procedure (I disagree with it, but then again we have a fairly short team right now and someone said one of our goals resulted from it, though the highlights don't show that part) and they defaulted to it. An oversight from the coaching team maybe...I would hope it will be analysed in training and they'll make it clear that any late late corners should be sent straight into the box.
  10. I was pondering this too. But I think it's a bit of a risk to lift the ball from the angle his body was to it at that time, and it made sense to focus on making sure it hit the target instead. Easy to skew it wide or over if you try to lift it from there. I think if he'd been aware the defender was there he may have taken a touch to steady his position and get a little closer first, that's why I assumed he hadn't seen him before he confirmed it.
  11. Ya know, Szmodics kinda has the look of someone who would have the wrong attitude (to unfairly judge a book by its cover here), but he keeps showing he doesn't. Hard worker, has the humility to accept his first half wasn't good enough but has the strength of spirit not to have let it affect him - in fact, for it to drive him on to a much better second half. He's growing on me all the time. I also happen to think he's the most clinical finisher currently at the club. I think it's harsh to judge the penalty miss too much tbh. He hit the inside of the post, and if Dolan (who I like) had reacted better we'd have scored anyway. If that penalty had been about an inch to the left, it would be as precise as penalties get and we'd be praising it. The pass for Rotherham's first was utterly abysmal. A much more sensible pass was on. He did seem to lose balance as he hit it, which makes me wonder if he was aiming further over to the right flank, but whatever the case it was a car crash pass. His first goal had an element of fortune for sure, I don't think the shot was going in without the deflection (hard to say without another angle). But he controlled it and set it up for himself nicely. Second goal he took very well, although the Rotherham player did nearly get it. I'd already thought what he said in the interview, that he hadn't seen the player, which makes sense given the angle of his run and how he'd be mostly focussing on his technique.
  12. I love when one of us (has happened to me too) says something like this and the player promptly scores.
  13. Unable to watch, due to work, but sounds like some of our fans underestimated how anathema to our style Rotherham are. Again.
  14. Since he hasn't played a minute of football yet and hasn't exactly set the world on fire so far for us, I'd say there's absolutely no way he should start in a team that have just won two in a row without him. He should be on the bench and very likely will be.
  15. I agree, thought it was a bizarre thing to post. Imagine being annoyed a player scored for us. Buckley has been guilty in the past of shooting when he should pass, and passing when he should shoot. And he's missed some sitters too. But he got that one exactly right and notched it into the bargain. What's to criticise? Just the one poster though.
  16. Your mate had one of the most confused moral compasses I've ever heard of then. Sick of fake fans, so deserts his club for another....riiiiight.... Sounds like a prick tbh, and a hypocrite.
  17. Apparently Gally is back for this one. Presumably he'll only be on the bench though.
  18. They also pummeled us 4-0 in this fixture last year whilst finishing 19th. That might be a bit to do with it.
  19. I think his decision making is bound to be flawed due to his lack of senior game time. It would have been really helpful if his loan hadn't been a bust
  20. It has terracing? Thought that wasn't allowed in the pro leagues. If we were at home I'd agree it's a terrific draw. But away, with the young team we will likely put out...I can see us coming unstuck here, which would also of course be a bit embarrassing. I think psychologically it's very different for the youngsters to turn out in front of a hostile crowd at a cruddy little ground, probably a bog of a pitch, than playing in front of a supportive crowd at a proper stadium on a newly stitched pitch. Harrogate have started the season well too. At the very least I expect it'll be a test for them. Could be character building. And I get that people want to go to a new ground. But personally, my consideration of whether it's a good draw is always down to if I think we'll progress, and I have a bit of a bad feeling about this one. Hopefully it'll turn out to be nothing to worry about, but I don't think we'll thump them.
  21. I must have missed the part where I said something was wrong with it. In fact my original post makes the very same point about it being helpful for potential youth recruits.
