  1. Thanks for the updates philipl, but how many ways do you want to spell Nsangou's name? 😂
  2. What's sometimes forgotten is that he also scored an own goal in the previous game against Wigan, Google tells me the 63rd minute. His 2 own goals were scored in the first 20 minutes of the Cardiff game. That means he scored 3 own goals in approximately 50 minutes of football. And then got sent off about 70 minutes later (not too long after we had got back into the game with a goal). Got to be some kind of record. And not long after telling us he wanted to leave the club even though our asking price wasn't being met. If it wasn't involvement in some sort of betting ring, it was an attempt to force the club to sell him. My guess is both - wanted to force us to sell, and thought he'd make some money at the same time. But this could just be because I hate the bastard for what he did. I'd quite liked him up until then too.
  3. 100% I'd have him back for the right money. Would need to learn to play a different way to how he was used last time though, but fast and dangerous. He won't be available on the right money now though. Signed a 4 year contract in 2021 when they bought him, won't be out of contract til 2025. Even then, once they're on Prem wages it's hard to get them back on Championship wages, and nearly always some club sniffing who will pay more than us.
  4. You'd think we'll have had people watching this one. Any lads for either side who looked like they may be worth taking on, and play for clubs we should be able to prise them from? Even if only as youth team prospects.
  5. Anyway, the people who insisted it was bizarre to be obsessed with Mowbray have now taken the Adam Armstrong thread thoroughly off topic in defending him, springing from one offhand comment about Mowbray. So shall we get back on topic, if anyone does have anything to say about Adam Armstrong? Otherwise maybe it makes more sense to dig out the Mowbray thread and hash it out in there?
  6. I do disagree with the notion there's not much between him and Kean. I think it's because he's more recent and people have forgotten just how poisonous Kean was. But I can understand the strong dislike due to the contempt he often showed. Different level though to Kean, and he at least brought us some modest success at first. Not worse than Coyle either, but in terms of attitude I'd put him third. I don't think Kidd comes into it, think people are talking in the Venkys era, and Kidd was just inept he wasn't shit in his attitude far as I can recall, so depends what we're comparing.
  7. Nothing bizarre about it, thorough explanations have been given.
  8. He didn't look it in interviews? He did by my standards. Certainly didn't look like it hurt him very often. Nor did he display much passion on the touchline whether winning or losing. Hell he was practically asleep at times. He moaned about being away from his family, downplayed our ambitions and prestige constantly, was obviously homesick for the northwest and never even moved his family here to do the job properly. There's enough evidence to suggest his heart wasn't really in it here without you needing to call that opinion daft. If you have a different opinion fine, but he gave plenty of us a different impression. For me, he 'did his best' in the same way I did my best at my last job. I hated it, gave what I could to satisfy my personal requirements of professionalism and to avoid being fired, but my heart wasn't in it and I never gave what I was truly capable of on a consistent basis as a result. I see it being said that he can't have been giving less than his best if he got us the same points as JDT, well as soon as he was back in his native northeast he got them into the playoffs, a team only just promoted from League One. He never did that here in 5 years.
  9. Personally I think the insistence it's impossible he wasn't doing his best is the true bizarre stuff. I guess everybody in football always gives it their all then.
  10. I'd be very curious to find out precisely what he did. From the LT article it sounds like it could be as minor as telling someone our lineup 10 minutes before it was released. I don't know if something as serious as what Shane Duffy did (always amazed he never got investigated for that) comes under it.
  11. Not strictly just about Rovers youngsters, but I notice Biniek and Nsangou are going to the u19s euros with Poland, who will share a group with Malta, but that Wharton and Phillips won't be there as England missed out on qualifying. Can anybody explain to me how shitty little Malta u19s have qualified whilst England u19s didn't? Are they hosts or something? I tried to find online how they qualified but I can't, they're seemingly too insignificant to list matches for. Even transfermarkt only had friendlies.
  12. That's great to hear, time will tell but hope you're right. Hope Phillips turns into that too (with us of course).
  13. Just checked google and Finneran is described as a defensive midfielder...so that's something different I guess, but it's another position we produce plenty. Although I suppose if Travis leaves and this kid comes along, by the time Tronstad is faded we should have an experienced DM in Garrett and this lad will be coming of age. If they both prove up to it. Our CB production line in the last however many years has been ridiculous though.
  14. https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/23617466.blackburn-rovers-youngsters-given-chance-impress-tomasson/ Rory Finneran, 15, has taken part in the internal games with the senior team. Also 16 year olds Max Davies and Tom Atcheson, both centre halves. Anyone have knowledge of any of them?
  15. Raya's loan was only a 4 month one too. Pike spent more time at Fylde than that overall. I think those loans can be handy for younger players who need a taste of the physicality and stakes of first team football, but agree I'm not sure what it achieved for the likes of Burns and Pike. I think it's just been desperation to get them experience when we've struggled to get a league loan sorted.
  16. @BRFC4EVA you still living down that way?
  17. Absolutely, didn't mean it as any kind of slight on his ability and potential. Just that, as we agree, he's unlikely to be ready for the first team. You never know of course, Dolan was brought in on the same assumption, but at this point in time it can only be believed that JDT and GB (or perhaps more a case of the U21 boss) have brought him in as an U21 player initially. If he performs better than expected early doors, maybe he can break into the fringe. Think there'll be a lot of senior competition by the end of the window though.
  18. Was 4th in line the other day. Think they're just mixing up bench duties.
  19. I gather he only played twice for Spurs U21s (who got relegated and finished 3 places below ours) and also twice for our u21s when he was on trial. So no, I think we can assume he isn't ready for the first team. Likely to spend much or all of next season trying to establish himself in our u21s first.
  20. That sounds like a pointlessly convoluted load of old bollocks.
  21. No longer Rovers Ladies! Now Rovers Women https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2023/june/20/a-new-era-starts-now/
  22. Nope. Old enough to remember when defeat away to Coventry mathematically cost us the title, and a little earlier.
  23. I'll have to take your word for it, I don't remember a single thing about his game! I do notice he played 11 games in his loan and we didn't bother signing him.
