  1. It says 'several', not 'seven' million. Several million Euros would also be extreme (not sure what number that would be considered to be, but definitely more than the 2 million previously quoted, and it makes me think 4 upwards). But it could be lost in translation. Even 2 mill is quite a lot for a keeper, especially when you look at what we paid for Kaminski. It really needs to prove a good signing if we are spending in that region. Though, it does anyway, as the other option is Pears...
  2. He just asked why you used the tactic of saying that Eustace wants it, and why you keep using it, and pointed out he's giving his own opinion, not discussing Eustace's. Why have you then replied by going on about Eustace's desires again? It doesn't add anything to the discussion Chaddy. We all know what Eustace has said in public, it's publicly available.
  3. But the rest of the time he plays like his hands are in his pockets.
  4. Hang on though, BB was crap. BBD was superb.
  5. I noticed that too. I also thought the vast majority were pretty average saves. Although he does seem to be good at closing players down, and that triple save was top top drawer. With a keeper it's all about consistency, and the bits you get wrong as much as the bits you get right, so it's probably even harder to judge from a highlight reel than other positions. I bet you could even make a reel of Pears where he looks top class. The Greek lad (Stergiakis?) looked like an absolute find from his clips. Did he even play a first team game?
  6. Where did I say that you said that? I was quite clear I was talking about the post you quoted for that part.
  7. I don't think we know enough about JE yet. It was said when he managed Kidderminster he had them playing like a non league Barcelona! I expect more pragmatism until we are safe though (if we get there) and then think he will try to evolve the style. Easier said than done.
  8. It's far lazier though to just say, as the post you quoted did, 'the goals will come from somewhere I'm sure'. Imagine if that was our recruitment stance. That streak of not signing proven goalscorers since Graham can't continue indefinitely. We've been very, very lucky that players have kept popping up and having top 3 scorer in the league returns. Only 3 teams a season can do that, and we have done it what, 3 of the last 4 seasons? There isn't something written in the stars that Blackburn Rovers must always have a prolific scorer. However, I don't think these are bad gambits, we have actually signed three proven scorers. None prolific, except Weimann about 3 seasons back, but the other two have steady returns in reasonable leagues that just aren't this one but are probably of roughly comparable standard. J-League maybe a mix of Championship and League One. Hopefully between them we can replace a chunk of Sammi's goals, though it's hard to see how we replace them all unless one of these lads really hits the ground running.
  9. Way above what I can rummage together even from all my life savings. Might not be a bad shout. I know a lot less about the economics of them though, and none showed in my search at my price point...but since I selected range 250+ miles, I guess they wouldn't! May have to do some research there. Also reconsidering the Zoe...upon reflection, the times I'd need more than 100 miles in winter would be few enough, and never on one continuous journey, so although it charges slowly I could probably plan around it. Minor hassle on a tiny percentage of my journeys. And looking at the newer small cars (I need small really due to where I park), their stated ranges all seem limited to about 250, more or less same as the Zoe, so god knows how long before anything significantly better in that size becomes affordable on the used market for me. Back to thinking the main problem is potentially less life on the motor and battery than newer models, and those are expensive fixes if I get unlucky in the next few years.
  10. It's very odd that they're so crap at posting results. Especially on a game they posted the lineup for. Why hype it up then not say how it ended? Maybe it was an embarrassing result lol
  11. We didn't attack as much. It's easier to defend backs to the wall than defend against counter attacks, especially when your defence lacks pace. But yes we conceded less after the change.
  12. I've noticed that's two interviews now where Eustace has said Sammie is 'in talks with Ipswich'. Not we are in talks with Ipswich. Sammie is. That rhetoric makes it sound like we have already accepted a bid. We shouldn't be allowing the player to have talks with Ipswich if they haven't had a bid accepted, as again it just unsettles the player further, and weakens our hand by showing Ipswich they're nearly there. If we have accepted a bid, dropping him from the last 3 friendlies makes a bit more sense. The first time Eustace said this, he said SS and SG were in talks with other clubs. It was only a couple of days later I think that Gally signed for Stoke. Sounds to me like his agent might be struggling to get Ipswich to meet his terms.
  13. I don't think it's 0 games, but he hasn't played the last 3 I believe. I agree, doesn't make sense. 'He could get injured'. Right, well he could get injured training. He could get injured stepping out the shower or playing his xbox! He probably won't get injured in any of those ways, including a light hearted friendly, as he was pretty sturdy last season. Taking him out of the team for friendlies means he doesn't get match sharpness in him. That's no good for us if he stays, and it's no good for Ipswich if he goes there. It also sends the signal to Ipswich that they're unsettling the player, which gives them cause to keep the bids low. Foolish all round IMO.
  14. Confidence can be built. And if you have ability, it should be easier to do so.
  15. If 9/10 million is right, setting an 8 mill release clause is fucking stupid and detrimental to Rovers. If we want to sell him at 8 mill we will sell him for 8 mill. Nor would an 8 mill release clause stop clubs trying to lowball us. It won't. In Spain, players move for less than their release clauses all the time. Some people talk like minimum fee release clauses mean you can't accept a lower offer or something.
  16. That's not true. The season before, BBD scored 7 goals from the flank, and looked far more useful than his previous seasons. Szmodics had been in great form in the final third of the season before. Who was showing momentum last season? If the new boys don't fire, I don't see anybody doing an AA/BBD/SS, even using them as the model for it.
  17. I didn't say they were good leagues, or that they're good signings, I said they're stronger leagues than the Scottish second tier, which you said they weren't.
  18. Became pretty much both-footed. Like MGP.
  19. But we do have Travis. So why is it like that? Are you referring to another position?
  20. The Japanese top league and top Belgian league are both superior to the Scottish second tier, which is virtually pub football
  21. For the sake of accuracy, they weren't told no because he was too old, they were told no because they wouldn't sign off on a two year deal. So what we've done instead is taken on just the second year of that deal, when the player has degraded further and stands more chance of suddenly becoming a liability. Genius. He had better be on much smaller terms than he was offered last year or it's just madness.
  22. I shouldn't think so. Described on Wiki as a forward/attacking midfielder. Think he plays more in the latter role. Probably he and Ohashi are seen as replacing Szmodics. Which, obviously you'd expect neither of them truly will. Weimann's best season though was in 2021/22 when he scored 22 goals in the Championship for Bristol C. Scored 6 the next, and 4 this season. Dunno if that's because his role changed or age kicked in. Please don't let Fleck be seen as a Garrett replacement. Garrett is usually available, which makes him a good squad player to have. Fleck is the opposite.
  23. Scratch that actually, I've since seen that in winter the range can potentially drop to about 115 miles (probably less since the battery isn't new), and that's not going to cut it for me due to the inability of this older model to charge quickly. This is one of the problems with the older battery chemistries, they're nowhere near as resistant to cold as the newer ones (some of which are barely affected by it at all), and they don't charge at speeds of 250 kW like a Model 3 can...this one is limited to 46 kW, so charges at less than a fifth of the speed on a public charger. Shame, I was nearly ready to take the plunge, but with my current driving needs I'd say I have to be able to get at least 150 miles reliably in all conditions to avoid a faffy amount of pre-planning journeys. Guess it's back to trundling along for another couple of years or so til the prices of better EVs come down and my finances hopefully improve!
