https://www.facebook.com/watch?v=975131944624594 Pretty much admitting he's heard about the criticism from fans and it hasn't helped. Sounds like he feels confident at the moment though so hopefully we see the best of him in the run-in.

I can't seem to find it now, but I found an article the other day about Sergeant signing a deal. I'm pretty sure it was from last May and described him as 17. So he's either nearly 18 or already 18, unless my memory is playing tricks and it said he was 16. Higgins I'm not sure. But yes they both do absolutely have time on their side, I was only observing what's there right now. It's a required growth area but they have time to grow. Physically as well, which is a scary thought in Higgins' case, he's a unit already.

Given that what Dolan mostly gets criticised for is decision-making, and he has the right attitude to the game, I'd argue he could still improve through more experience. It may just click one day, how to read situations differently.
-
His general play looks good, exciting looking player. He needs to work on his finishing though. Not the only one, Higgins could have had more there.
-
The most unfairly maligned player at the club. By some distance.
-
Our u18s have done the double on Liverpool now, who are actually second-bottom in the 13 team league. We're 5th, with 1 or 2 games in hand of all the teams above us (although 6th have a game in hand over us).

Yeh you've got to backspace instead. You know, the button or whatever it is on your browser that takes you back to your previous page.
-
The ones on the mobile version can be a real pain. They take you to a whole other page rather than being a popup with an option to close, and you have to backspace to get back to where you were. You then aren't taken to the point you were already at, but instead taken to the top of the thread. Those ones are really irritating. I can live with the desktop versions.

Sure, although 'if he keeps playing like the best game he has had all season' is a big, big ask. I'd happily settle for how he's been playing the last month and a bit.
-
I assumed he meant league goals. Which he has 5 of, so needs to double his tally for the season. Be nice if he pulls that off.
-
Would this have been your opinion if we had lost last night?

I already have an account, and it looks like that does indeed work, thanks! I'm pretty busy until Monday but if my spirit hasn't been crushed by the Plymouth result by then, I'll give it a watch. Thanks, that'll be a useful resource since I have to miss a lot of Saturdays in particular. Not as exciting when you already know the score, but when I miss a good 'un it'll still be worth it.

The only time Big Mak doesn't smile is when you don't let him take a penalty. And tbh, it's been understandable he didn't get to take the last two, his goals had all come from headers really, and his shooting with his feet had often been poor. After those last two finishes, with the form he's in, if we get one in the next game I'd let him take it.

Whilst Mani did always say he was only getting that opinion from a member of staff at the club, and has subsequently admitted he doesn't think the lad is as good as all that, he made it clear he was wholesale buying into the validity of that opinion* and went to lengths to mock those who thought it was a right load of old bollocks. If Buckley finally finds form for an extended period and realises his initial potential, I'm sure he will be along with some more 'I told you so' fun. *(comments like, IIRC, I don't see it myself but they know more than us, and essentially shouting down the contrary opinions due to our supposed lack of knowledge...we were right, these experts were wrong)

v Plymouth Argyle (h) - 15/2/2025

Aye I agree, mostly by dallying too long whilst the squad imminently needed reinforcements. We're about to have most of our players back anyway, which will set the squad up strongly for the final run, but the longer we went without bringing players in, the more points we lost, the better quality those players needed to be to save our season. My gut feeling is we didn't bring in enough ready-to-go quality up front to achieve that. Plus the fannying around lost us our manager, and I'm not fool enough to think one good result since means we don't have to worry on that front. The same thing happened last season when we got a one-game bounce from Eustace coming in, and we didn't really have great form after that game, it took a while for things to click. -
I think quite a lot of people know this, but, when microwaving leftovers from the day before, sprinkle a little water over it first. Stops it drying out and keeps it tasting pretty fresh. This is especially essential on pizzas, stops the crust getting nasty. (Anyone wondering how much, I usually just put my hand under the kitchen tap on full blast, then flick whatever's on it, and usually do this two or three times depending what I'm nuking...some stuff requires a bit more, some a bit less, and if it's been in the fridge it needs less than if it's been left out...if it's got a watery sauce covering it all, it probably doesn't need it at all)

It's a shame there are so many teams underneath us who can just slot into WBA's place as contenders if they slip though. We really have thrown too many points away this last couple of months. Even just a couple of those defeats having been wins would have us 9 points clear of 7th right now and make us very hard to catch. As it is, we're 7 points clear of 12th, and any team from there upwards could catch us if they go on a run and we don't do quite well ourselves. -

I think this is a tougher game than it looks on paper. Plymouth are actually in good form, 2 wins and a draw from their last 3 games. And they did us last time we played. Add those games together and you get 10 points from 4 games - which is more than a third of all their points this season. Absolutely hammered Millwall yesterday, who we've often struggled against. Albeit with an own goal, a penalty, and 5 goals despite only 7 shots on target and 35% possession. They also beat WBA in their previous league game just like ourselves, and beat Liverpool in the cup. I think we're playing them at a bad time. Their tails will absolutely be up. -
Oh don't worry, I knew that. I was talking about the social media buzz. Some very limited minds on there. If anything I thought you were probably criticising the notion.
-
Don't I have to be registered and pay a subscription to do that?
-
Absolutely knew I'd come into this topic right now and see that people would want Lowe to be in charge because he got a single win. It's as stupid and as predictable as people wanting an ex-player to get the managerial reins every time we need a new manager.
-
I sadly had to miss tonight's superb win over WBA, though I caught the last 10 minutes on the radio on my way home. From the way they were talking about him heading everything away at the back, and his heat map from the game, and the two excellent goals I've seen on the highlights...I'd imagine this was his best performance yet?

Just used the search function! (Not to bring us to a political talk at all, but as a one-off sidebar, it'd be nice if people could just do the equivalent for all info - Googling - at his conferences, but he spits out such a range of unexpected fabrications you can't really keep up that way and properly fact check in real time...maybe they should use AI at his conferences!) Not casting shame on anybody who really wasn't rating Gueye back then btw. He looked very handy when he first arrived (which prompted a lot of 'great signing, everything Gally should've been' type comments, which I thought were premature), then looked really crap for a while and criticism was warranted (but again I thought long-term judgements were premature), and has been superb for about a month now, prompting people to think he's top class again (guess what...probably premature!). People have jumped to some strong conclusions based on how he has been playing at the time, but that's just the nature of football fans really (and pundits etc!).

(Apologies to those I'm quoting from ages ago) Whilst these don't explicitly say he is the worst striker to ever play for us, Trinidad asked the question, which is an implication in itself (though he admits his memory isn't too long). The main suggestion was Chris Brown, understandably, who most would use as their go-to example of our worst ever striker, and LR said Brown was a million times better. Again by implication this makes Gueye our worst ever, as even if Brown is only in your top 3 worst, being a million times worse than him makes him our worst. Other comments I didn't quote in the discussion include 'Chris Brown and Fode Koita were better', 'it certainly feels like Chris Brown II', and ruggles1995 saying 'I'd still have Brown down as worse at the moment'...'Brown still tops the list for me atm' (so although he does think Brown is worse for now, it sounded close. Oh and Ward was mentioned by TR, which elicited 'Ward...was crap, but this chap is in a league of his own' (which also implies worst ever if he has a league of his own for crapness) and 'Ward was crap but fucking leagues above this guy'. Point is, it was being discussed whether he was the worst, even if nobody explicitly said he was. I'd say Lancaster Rover was definitely saying he was our worst ever, unless he wants to tell us about another striker who was more than a million times worse than Chris Brown. I also distinctly remember having to quote someone months ago (not in this thread apparently, dunno where) and point out that Brown scored 0 goals in 41 games for us, so Gueye had already outscored him. I don't remember if that was explicitly in response to them saying worst ever, but again they were definitely saying he was worse than Brown.
