Goalkeeping coach at Arsenal used to be at Brentford.
-
So you think championship is his level.

How do we know how long we’ve discussed a new contract, it’s down to the player and his agent, if they don’t agree to extend yet there’s not much we can do, we’ve done pretty good recently tying down a lot of the young one’s, but trying to extend someone like Dack, probably our best player will take a long time. Whatever we can pay, Dack and his agent know if a decent premier club comes in they could blow us away. Really hope they can extend Dack/ Nyambe contracts and add a permanent c/b and l/b and a couple of loans. We live in hope, COYB.

Think Kenny thought a hand shake was good enough until the Monday, and indeed it probably would at the time, with the majority of players, but not Keane, never liked him since.
-
The main reason is £3.30 a game, money well spent, go for it ⚽️?
-
You seem to slate Sharpe constantly because he doesn’t give anything away before we have a signing in the bag, (ruled by the club) now he’s passing on what he knows early he’s getting stick, seems he can’t win in your eyes, and anything he’s reported will not make a difference to another club coming in, think his agent will have that sorted.
-
Sharpe can only go on what he’s heard, Rovers in pole position and after It went to press, found out WBA are interested so obviously had to give the update.Thats an update, would have been a u- turn if what he said that Rovers were favourites was completely wrong, but was right at the time. Re 2 mil bid apologies realise you meant WBA could have, but even a premier team have to try and get a cut price deal, but looks like Duffy was first choice.
-
How’s it a u-turn of all time, when he reported it we were in prime position, fee and probably wages agreed, and then a premier club comes in with probably double wages, and when Sharp found out he reported that. Thats how it works, think you’re still in the Jack Walker era, when we just smashed everyone out of sight, and saying we should have gone in early with a 2 mil bid, nobody does that unless you’ve plenty of dosh, why didn’t WBA go in early, same reason, wait till they halve the fee.
-
Always said wait until the window shut and then decide if good or bad.
-
What he said they will NOT be paying transfer fees for a goalie and defender as they haven’t before, just saying it looks like this time they are. Not too difficult is it, and why the hell do my posts look like a spokesman for the PR team, folk can agree with the club sometimes and not always slagging the club off whatever they do.
-
Yeah seen Mr Nixon’s comments difficult to compete against if true, anyway all I said is what you’ve always said we don’t invest in defenders with paying a transfer fee regardless of how we find it, just hoping they have finally decided we need to buy permanent defenders.
-
No,TM has said we don’t have to sell Del Boy to fund a c/b but has to get others off the payroll to pay for others. Just think for the first time in a while, and in difficult times, we are actually trying to address the defence, and paying fees, which JH has always said Venkys won’t do.
-
It appears whatever we do you would find things alarming, we are actually trying to sign players in the positions that need filling. For the first time for a long time we are actually paying a fee for a goalie and hopefully centre back, something you said wouldn’t happen. You do realise sometimes you have to release players to help to buy better ones, let’s give them a little credit for trying to address the problems in defence.....

I know Ken Beir, lives in Padiham ?
-
Think Shef We’d fans are concerned whatever the charge was, not sure I’d like to start a season 12 points adrift.
-
I know a lot on here when FFP is mentioned think it’s an excuse not to spend, but believe me we are sailing close to the wind, just hope the financial guys at Rovers are making sure we keep within the guidelines, The last thing we need is a points reduction, think getting rid of quite a few on the payroll will certainly help, and replace with 2/3 quality and also lads from acadamy. See Derby got off with no penalties but their case was completely different from Rovers, their main charge was overpriced their ground where we are most concerned with going over the 39 mil over 3 years. Hopefully see the goalie signed today with a c/b by weekend, and a couple more defenders before the window closes.
-
Still would like to see Wharton get a lot of game time in league 1 instead of being on the bench, if we bring in 2 c/backs he might not make the bench, another season in league 1 and he will hopefully be ready for championship football,
-
Still think Wharton will end up back at Northampton for another season,or even half a season, to get games in. If we can get in a couple of experienced c/backs in and have Carter, Magloire Grayson as back up we should be ok, and get Mulgrew and Williams off the wage bill.
-
Yep,I’ve always advocated that, wait until the window closes and then assess if we’ve had a good window or not, if TM does what he says he wants to, that is two goalies, couple c/backs and a l/b and a possible bonus of a midfielder it could be a decent window. Still think we had to offload Smallwood who didn’t figure last season, even with the injuries we had. Samuel had one decent game followed by some very indifferent games, had to go. Downing a difficult one, think most thought his legs would have gone last season, but certainly surprised me and was one of our better players, but another year older and those legs go all of a sudden, fine balance how much to pay him at that age, could still end up signing for us. Looks like Graham off to Sunderland, probably do a job in that division but probably the right time to depart. Lets hope Brereton, Gallagher, Armstrong, Dack will be enough up front with Vale and Butterworth as back ups.

The last Xmas day fixture was indeed Blackpool/ Rovers in 1965, but it was a different fixture date re the ammonia incident.
-
Remember that, Stood very close to the guy who threw it..
-
Hmm you’ve banged on about sorting goalie and defence out, but now saying it’s not down to personnel but bad coaching, let’s see who he brings in and go from there. Never thought you saying Smallwood/ Samuel going is a gamble, we need to offload the dead wood to bring in more players, bit of wheeling and dealing, thought Mowbray explained the plan pretty good Having a limited budget. Are you still adamant we won’t pay a transfer fee for a keeper and c/b?
-
Yeah very talented lad, but as you say very slight, thought he would have got a few more games in for Rovers, and yes died young middle fifties, btw his nickname was spider, couple of years older than Metcalfe Who had similar talent but probably a bit tougher than him.
-
Sensible post, the academy has done an excellent job, think there are some very decent lads coming through, as there has for a few years now.
-
Couple of years ago,and no not saying who,but he certainly knew what was going on, he actually said the papers are quoting 15 mil but the top bid was 12 mil which was turned down, obviously he could have been lying but he’d no need to. When you say folk are going on about the idea of not selling anyone in last few years except for Raya, it is fact, they haven’t. This season is so different, this pandemic has changed everything, I know you think it’s an excuse but the economy has nosedived worldwide including India, think Venkys have 20 odd buisness s all over the world, and some of them are probably struggling to survive, so it must be so difficult to say well let’s throw 10 mil into Rovers. Id love it if they would, but also realistic that we will have to put up with minimum funding and hope things improve.
