Good post as usual, and with a few winnable games coming up let’s see what happens. Some of the dross directed at Mowbray is crazy, he’s been very good to the club and I hope he can turn it round. If he can’t come January, well lets have a change, I still think we have some very decent players but the main problem is finding a settled side and focus on our strengths instead of keep changing the side to counter different teams. Love the manager at Shef Unt who plays the same home and away, 3 at the back and play with no fear, and with no real stars, just high tempo stuff, So for me, give TM till after the Xmas games and see where we are.
-
I can assure you they aren’t a made up company, had a box for years but didn’t renew for this season, guy who owns company rarely made an appearance, rather go to the races, but let his friends in every week, who, btw have taken on the box this season, as already said probably got a bit of free advertising this season until signs removed from stand.
-
Yeah on his own admission he picks the side depending on the other teams quality’s, but I would like him to try and keep to the same team more than he does. Sometimes it can work, changing the formation from a back 4 to a back 3, think it was the Millwall manager, as was,who said he surprised him when we played them and started with 3 at the back. Coyle could only play 442 and was very predictable which probably contributed to our downfall, but do think TM changes too many personnel/ positions but compared with Coyle, much better tactical.
-
You probably thought it would have been a good idea to get Nathan Jones who did wonders with Luton, good upcoming manager, like I said he’s blown it at Stoke, Mowbray has a few faults as we all know but to say you wouldnt trust him with a Tesco voucher is, in my view a little harsh. Think he’s signed a few decent players and also some not so decent, but he is a proper football manager who sometimes overthinks his tactics, but compared with some of the dross we’ve had he’s not too bad. I personally think we have some very good players, and I would like him to get his best formation, stick with the same side, injures permitting, and see where it takes us.
-
Re Mowbray think it’s pretty certain no decision will be taken this side of Christmas, which I think is right, see where we are and hopefully back him with a few quid in January. Just going to watch Stoke, bottom of the league, but remember in the close season one or two on here saying they were a proper club, signing half a dozen in a week, while we were dithering, some good signings as well, but as we all know funny game this football.
-
Haha, think you want him out a little quicker than me, but ‘Boro are struggling at the moment with a young manager, and with TMs ties with them it could happen.
-
I can see a Graham Souness scenario happening here, with Middlesbrough coming in for TM either to replace Woodgate or help him in a football director situation, still personally give him till Christmas if that doesn’t happen.
-
Wasn’t comparing anything, just a fact, 6 games ago we weren’t doing that badly, just been hit with a lot of injuries, just saying not to be hasty, we’ve been down that route before, like I’ve said let’s give it to Xmas, and see where we are, entitled to an opinion aren’t I. It’s not 1995, we have to progress slowly, if TM can’t push us on any further, no problem change the manager, but need to wait till New Year,IMO.
-
Too early yet for any change, regardless of what most on here say, Mowbray and Waggot have stabilised the club, the whole infrastructure of the club is better than a few years ago, the problem with just sacking him is who to bring in, most of the names mentioned on here wouldn’t come nowhere near here, unfortunately we have some very unusual owners who don’t attend matches and expect managers to go to Pune twice a year. At least with TM they seem to trust him and leave it to him and Waggot to run operations over here. Obviously last 6 games the results are not good enough and I’d wait until Xmas before any rash decision is made, not much improvement, bring someone in, but talk about Hughes, Hughton, big Sam,no chance, folk mentioned Holloway and he’d come in a flash but he’s a nutter. Think I’d probably go for up and coming manager like Gareth Ainsworth, with Damien Johnson as no 2, but wait till the new year. BTW for all them who remember, don’t think many were clambering for Dalglish to go when he lost 6 on the bounce before squeezing into the play offs, and we all know what happened after that......

Huddersfield - Saturday Lunch for Sky
unsall replied to Uddersfelt Blue's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Think it’s pretty certain he won’t meet you, hides behind the keyboard, He asked Waggot to ring him re him buying a season ticket which he did, but never went to meet him, just an attention seeking person, who’s come out with saying the Bell comments are racist, which is disgusting. -
Wouldn’t know if he has or not, I’m too busy watching the match.
-
Pretty obvious to me that Venus has taken on a different role, with Damian Johnson being more of TMs assistant/ coach, which isn’t a bad thing, rated very highly.
-
Evans, not many fans favourite, but put in a decent shift, he was MOM for Ireland last week, thought Armstrong did better with a decent goal, with the big City lad and Rothwell to come back, think we’ve definitely improved the squad this season, looking hopefully for a couple of home wins, or even a win against Luton and a point against Forest wouldn’t be a disaster.
-
Brereton out for 8 weeks, had an op on his knee, Samuel another couple of games at u/23s, City lad possibly make bench, can’t see Chapman in 18, Davenport probably a couple of weeks away from 1st team.
-
Decent line up, but think TM will start Armstrong instead of Rothwell.
-
So it looks like you got it wrong re Harris, don’t think TM is coming out with drivel, just doesn’t like saying we should be battering teams,or over confident, likes to play it down. Surprised you are saying this, as from your own admission, you’re not the most optimistic person re Rovers even though you attend all the games, you never seem to have a good word re the manager/ management/ marketing etc.
-
Summed up pretty well, think we signed some decent players, everyone screaming all summer that Mulgrew shouldn’t be starting, loan him him out(if it goes through) and same are saying he shouldn’t have gone, can’t win. 5 players (inc goalie) in defence, we’ve replaced 3 with obviously Lenihan not one needed to replace, only R/B not addressed. Still think Nyambe Tosin Lenihan Cunningham looks a better back 4 than the one started against Charlton, still think Alan Hutton has another season in him at R/B (free agent). Williams decent back up at C/B and then it’s probably Grayson/Nyambe as well. Window not as bad as some saying, could have been better, like you say, all depends on Tosin if he can be the dominant c/h we need, with Walton also commanding that area,
-
Cunningham very good signing, Johnson very good signing, Tosin hopefully a decent signing, Walton, let’s hope he can cut the crosses out which Raya struggled with, Downing seems he can still do it and Gallagher a decent pacy target man, you don’t seem to have mentioned any of them.
-
Speeches done. Understand #Rovers tried hard for Harrison Reed and thought they were there until Fulham came in with a deal that blew theirs out the water. Still expecting Cunningham in and Mulgrew out. From Sharp

You want them gone, any names have you? That’s the problem,we know what we would like, but how many names were in the frame last time we were up for sale, you seem to dismiss Bolton/ Bury ( nothing to do do with geographical location) as they are different to us, but Bolton situation could be us, and I personally don’t want to end up like them. I don’t feel that Venkys are uniquely benevolent people, just thankful they keep coming up with the dosh to keep us going, we’ve floated around this division for many seasons, well before they came on the scene, there’s nothing more than I would like than getting back to the Premier, but think it might be more on the Sheffield United model than Boro, Derby etc way.
-
To be fair I don’t think Rovers are moaning, that’s the fans mainly. You give the impression we shouldn’t worry about FFP, just go for it and spend millions, bit of a dangerous game, we’ve already fell foul of the rules and suffered embargo’s etc, and lucky that didn’t involve points reduction as like Birmingham.Think the management are very concerned of FFP and are managing it best they can. They’ve just chucked in another 9 mil to keep us going so who knows where we are up to re keeping to the rules. We all know what Venkys did back in the day, but like it or not we need them more than they need us at this moment. We all want to get back to the Premiership but not at any cost, because we don’t want to end up like our neighbours Bolton. Does look as though Derby are stretching/ bending the rules and good luck to them, personally think the FFP rules need clarification, because it looks like some clubs are certainly very close to breaking the rules. Lets hope we can stretch to a l/b and c/b before Thursday, but feeling only one to come in unless we offload a couple of bodies.
-
Well that’s all 3 relegated teams lost first game, think all 3 will be up there though, at the end of season, takes 6/7 games to see a better picture, albeit took Norwich a bit longer last season. Still expect a couple of additions before close of play on Thursday, certainly not panicking yet, but plenty on here are. Left back is major problem as we all know, hopefully a new l/b in for Sat, with City lad replacing Mulgrew.
-
Why do folk think our fitness has been an issue, think you’ll find Rovers very fit, good fitness coaches.
-
Just goes to prove what a good job the academy is doing, costs 3 mil a year, and to keep their cat 1 status after relegation to league 1 was unbelievable,we all know how unpredictable our owners can be, but fair play to them to keep investing and looks like it’s paying off. Excited to watch these youngsters coming through and hopefully getting game time this season, some real talent amongst them.
