The whole wage structure has changed,no more massive wages, but decent wages, compete with over half of clubs in league but won’t go silly, to be honest they had to do it, with no parachute payments smallish crowds, ffp etc.
-
Gained us a few points this season has Raya, having a good season, hope he’s back soon.
-
You’re right Mowbray gives little away, but others are a little more candid, not been told exact wages, but told roughly what Marriott and a couple of other strikers we were after wanted and it was very big bucks. Problem for Rovers is we can’t compete with wages, with Derby,Boro,WBA,Stoke,Swansea and Villa mainly due to their parachute payments crowds etc, transfer fee not a problem, but we are middle of the league for wages.
-
Excellent player, still a bit of a gamble if he could do it in this league, but looks like he can, but honestly we certainly went for him, if fact after Peterborough played at Ewood, Waggot asked Barry Fry about 3 of their players, Marriott, Edwards and Maddison, that from the horses mouth, Marriots’s wages or what he wanted, ruled us out straight away, think the reason Edwards didn’t come was TM was confident Harry Chapman was coming, similar players, Maddison no idea, pretty certain he was going somewhere but very surprised he stayed at Peterborough.
-
It’s a fact, actually came from Waggot, wages were far above Rovers budget, even though we are paying top dollar for Brereton his wages are nowhere near Marriotts, can’t compete with Derby,Boro West Brom etc with wages, ffp and all that.
-
Think he’s only played 1 league game, but played 3 or 4 FA cup games, think 1 game he fluffed it and gave a goal away, but also saw he was man of the match for Canada in a World Cup qualifier, so bit harsh to criticise him, big lad, probably find out Sat if he goes with him.
-
Decent side, or if doubt with Rodwell stick Williams in at c/h and Bell at full back, but like you say TM loves Bennett, do think he’ll find room for him somewhere.
-
They are saying another scan/ x Ray needed, can’t see him making it, or to be more precise another assessment.
-
Yeah looks like they are both out, hopefully rest of them ok.
-
Both decent sides, think a lot will depend on fitness, with Graham,Mulgrew,Rodwell and Nyambe and obviously Raya, but we know Tony will probably throw a surprise or two, to keep McLaren guessing.
-
Spot on, how many times have we seen it down at Ewood, when we expect to win we blow it, but hopefully we roll them over, also Rotherham a win on paper,, but a very resilient side, but I do think we will have too much for QPR and if we get that early goal, go on to win, close, but just nick a win.
-
Agree, they are in good form but there are better teams out there, tougher than some probably think, but would take 2 1.
-
Think you’re right, probably go his normal Graham up top,Dack behind,be interesting his other selections with Palmer,Rothwell playing ok,think one thing is certain, young Harrison Reed will be central midfield, hopefully, and think he will bring in Evans and give Smallwood a rest, but no doubt T M will have one or two surprises up his sleeve.

Word is it was a back injury, not sure how serious.

Think it’s a shame for me do you how nice of you, just read the post you put on after the Shef Unt game, just about sums you up, probably the one game we got stuffed and you gave Mowbray both barrels, Mowbray is a tactical minnow, complete opposite in my eyes, utter shyte, Mowbray out-thought, players out coached, you basically don’t know what your talking about, wish people wouldn’t keep coming on here and telling me everyone likes Mowbray, because you obviously don’t. We have probably had one game at home where we get done and you’re all over him, think it’s you that’s got the problem, you must be one of those fans who think we have to roll over every team, not going to happen, we are having a decent start so far, but we going to lose some games, get over it. -

Yes my rule, couldn’t care less what you or anybody does, for the umpteenth time just discussing the team ,great we all do it, but since Mowbray came here you can never guess his team, but I don’t criticise before the game because he is usually proved right, gets it wrong and we get hammered get in there. Why keep going about me being the victim, you and your buddies who are on all the time seem to resent anyone coming on with a different view. You give the impression we are invading your space and your always right and we are always wrong,I know more about Rovers than you will ever know, and am very sorry if I think Mowbray has turned the club round after the dross we have had in recent years. -

Very well researched, see you’re located in Ipswich, just out of interest what are the MB/ local rag messages saying about Ipswich’s poor start, personally thought they nabbed a decent gaffer in Hurst, didn’t last long, I know they gave big Mick plenty of stick, sometimes better the devil you know. -

Ok, let’s hope we carry on the good work, couple of decent signings in January, you never know, not the best window though in Jan, to get the best players but who knows, onwards and upwards. -

What you on about, you said you would have took 20th at the start of the season, what’s changed, same players from start of season, just saying as others are that expectations have changed like yours have, like I said, if we can get up this season, brilliant, it’s a bonus, realistically consolidation. Dont think you are taking into consideration of budgets, Rovers cannot compete with many of the teams who can splash the cash on wages, one of the reasons we didn’t get Marriott and others, not the transfer fee but the wages, don’t get me wrong I would love us to go up, but think we might have to wait a year or two. -

Yes I understand that, it’s debated before the game in the pub etc re the team as well as on the MB, I myself discuss it with others, but I don’t condemn the manager for picking the team, until after the game, and like Ive said if we get hammered he’s got it wrong give him stick, but on most occasions he gets it right, so why not wait till after the match. You have to admit some posters do say he’s got it wrong, lost the plot etc, before the game, can’t see the point until game is played. -

Yeah agree with you, when we got promoted most of us including the manager wanted consolidation in this league, don’t think many fans thought we would get promoted. I am not saying we couldn’t go up but I would be happy mid table this season, invest again in the next two windows and have good go at it next season, very similar to Sheffield United, who we seem to be following in their footsteps, promotion, consolidation and promotion, hopefully, but who knows, very difficult division with a lot of clubs with big budgets. -

If and probably that’s directed at me, if you read my post properly I don’t praise or criticise any team selection before the game, I wait until the match has been played and then discuss, if Mowbray was proved right or wrong, pretty simple really. -

Aye I’m still here! You’re right don’t need a bodyguard something we agree on, at the end of the day it’s results that count and we got a good point and in my opinion think we deserved 3. Ive explained why I don’t post every week at 2 05 after the team is announced because I don’t know the reasons why he drops him, bench someone else, etc, but Mowbray and his coaching staff do know why, is that so hard for you to understand, now if he picks a side you don’t agree with and we get hammered, yes give him stick after the game, but as I have said, most times he gets it right. Its the same on here when we go a goal down, sack the manager he’s useless etc, then when we score or go on to win he’s a hero, not my style to do that these days, went a goal down on Sat I was disappointed but knew we were playing good and fully expected to equalise. Like people on here keep saying, end of the day we are all Rovers supporters and keep saying 99% are behind Mowbray, that, I find disturbing because there is quite a lot on here who aren’t keen on him, like when I asked (Mercer) do you think Mowbray is a good manager, well he’s steadied the ship, he’s a steady Eddie but not the man to take us forward. Nobody blinks an eyelid when statements like that, he’s more than steadied the ship he has turned the club round, but anyone who thinks like that, like me, your mate Chaddy, and anyone else just seem to get slaughtered on here. Just glad we aren’t bottom of the league, be like hell on earth on here, take care everyone and let’s hope for 3 points on Saturday ?⚽️
