  1. Thought old Tone got it right tonight, Rothwell was superb, I really hope this is a start of regular games for him. Evans and Travis dominated that midfield, thought they played well together. Only negative being that Bennett will obviously come back in on Saturday.
  2. What a strange article. “There’s one or two after the weekend who are having tests, but I’m not going to tell you which ones and give the plans away," he revealed to iFollow Rovers ahead of the game. In other words, I haven't decided whos turn it is to play on Wednesday yet... “We’ll see if they can get through training today and we’ll pick a team that we think can be really competitive and try to get another three points. He says this every week, why is it so tough for our players to "get through training" ? “[Joe] Rothwell’s one of those players and there’s one or two others to be honest. We’ll see. Ah yes, of course he is. As predicted right at the start of the thread, Rothwell's next start is currently pencilled in for New Years Day. Another one - “I don’t want to build Brentford up because I really believe that we can beat them" Then goes on to say... “But they’ve won five of the last six, scoring three at Wigan, three at QPR, three somewhere else as well. “They’re a decent football team who have some very good individual threats, particularly with [Said] Benrahma and [Ollie] Watkins, who can hurt you," he added. “They have a lot of foreign players who a lot of people wouldn’t have heard of, but they’re very technical, very talented and move the ball around well. “They’re organised and can pick you off. It’s a test for us and a good challenge for us. At home we can beat anyone on our day, so let’s hope Wednesday is our day." Tony Mowbray is such an oddball manager, I just can't understand him at all.
  3. The first one against Preston was an own goal. Just because Mowbray said he's giving it to him doesn't make it his.
  4. I think it was a 2 and a half year deal he signed, so his contract will be up at the end of next season.
  5. Whilst I agree I certainly wouldn't be going after Ainsworth, but if its out of him and Johnson, why on earth would you go for the latter? At least Ainsworth has worked in the football league and has experience of the day to day management lifestyle, Johnson would be an absolute disaster I feel.
  6. I think Mowbray is pretty lucky that the fans are only really starting to question him now, and its pretty poor form from him to go in at the fans like that at the first signs of any unrest. We have been dreadful for 12 months now, that good will from the third division season was only going to last so long. Anywhere else he would have had much more "abuse" by now than he has had here.
  7. One guarantee- Rothwell doesn't start.
  8. What on earth have you seen to make you even think this was a remote possibility? He isn't getting a gig as good as this again, he's never walking away. Especially after a win.
  9. I reckon he might go for a left back, but that's it.
  10. Apart from the Dack header where he scored the rebound, and that audacious Rothwell effort that was going wide anyway, I cant think of a save there keeper made? This game took me back to that period when we first got relegated under k**n where we picked up a few wins despite being utterly atrocious.
  11. Didnt the fans forum present the idea to the club to market the post 12pm price as the actual match day ticket price, with the carrot of "save £3 on the match day ticket price if you buy before 12pm"? So still rip the fans off, but be nice about it.
  12. Everything has already been said in this thread I think. I'll enjoy the 3 points, and fair play to the lads on the pitch for keeping there heads up to go in front twice more after twice being pegged back, could have easily shrugged there shoulders after the first equaliser and gone onto lose 2-1, afterall we have seen Mowbrays sides do that many times before. As for the rest of the game, good grief.
  13. Its also starting to grate on me that he has to tell us that he's "honest and hardworking" in every interview, and that he's from a "working class background" like we are. Give it a rest.
  14. It also states in the article that some players need to find consistency. Mowbray doesn't give them the chance too, Rothwell - 3 starts, all away from home, followed by numerous 20 minute cameos off the bench. Baffling.
  15. On paper yes our squad is better than that one obviously, but our league position isn't showing much improvement at all from back then.
  16. Probably a 10 minute cameo as a wide forward is my guess.
  17. Unfortunately I imagine it will probably be miles off, no takeover is happening here, certainly not in the near future if ever.
  18. If it was any sort of serious injury, i honestly think Mowbray would just shut up shop and tell venkys we can't continue as a club anymore.
  19. It's strange. His record over the past 45 games since Preston away last year is pretty poor. 52 points from 45 games, so just enough to keep us out of that bottom three, with over 70 goals conceded in that time, two transfer windows and not a hint of a permanent deal for a defender. I just can't imagine he survives that anywhere else, are we all really still clinging onto that third division season?
  20. This is my favourite quote from the article, of course you will move things around, you do it every bloody week, mostly for no reason at all!
  21. Well, we finished 2 points off the play offs in 2014, thanks to a 12 or so game unbeaten run to end the season. Even in that run we do what we always do and bottled it when we got close, 3-1 up at Sheffield Wed to draw 3-3 in the last minute, then Brighton scored a last minute equaliser to draw 3-3 at Ewood. Then the year after, the best side we have had since relegation in my opinion, we finished 11 points off the play offs, so I have to agree that a "real manager" and not somebody learning there trade would have certainly gotten us into that top six that season. Now though, the squad is far too unbalanced to be near the play offs, it would take two really good transfer windows from a really good manager to get this side challenging next season. There's no way Mowbray would do it, and I can't see Venkys employing anyone good enough to do it either. We are truly screwed as long as they remain here, which they will do for a long time yet.
  22. Better than that, it was Arsenals third string in the FA Cup.
  23. It'll be interesting to see if Stoke make a move for Corry seeing as the manager knows him well and always picks him for international duty. I'm going to hazard a guess that they won't.
  24. At a guess, Chapman has realised he's dropped a bollock by coming here, and is probably trying to get shipped out in Jan.
  25. Two posts in a row from Parson Blue criticising the club just shows you where we are at the minute.
