I agree we won’t see 20,000 average crowds in this league again. But are we capable of selling a fair few more than 10,000 season tickets? I think without doubt, we just need more imagination and drive from the club.

However, look at the average crowds of your EFL ‘regulars’, so Birmingham, Bristol City, Sheff Utd, Derby, Forest and so on and their crowds have risen massively since our last promotion in 2001. Our average crowd of 20,000 back then had us 3rd, now it would be 13th in the averages. The common denominator is they are city clubs with vast catchment areas and a dormant floating support has for some reason re-emerged. Unfortunately, clubs like us and Bolton just don’t have that floating support, just a very loyal core that doesn’t really wax or wane by much. I would wager that we are one of the few clubs in England getting lower crowds now than in 2001 (if at the same level).

I was at a wedding when Stoke away was on this season. Our table didn't hear a word of the speeches as we were refreshing Twitter for updates as that mad last 10 minutes was going on.

It’s the competition the media want. A European Super League in all but name for big city clubs. They never wanted us, league champions, in it in the first place.

A new striker ready to play has to be the priority. We don't get one in and Graham breaks his leg after the window shuts, we would be seriously up against it. We got away with it this season, as he was surprisingly robust, but he'll be 34 in August.

Brighton have an enormous and affluent catchment area to themselves. However, theres no reason why northern club’s can’t match Bournemouth or Watford, they have standard crowds of 10,000 and 19,000.

Not the point you are making, but a fine example of how Rovers MUST engage outside the borough of BwD, as more and more of our support now lives outside the town of Blackburn. My own group of mates from school are another example, out of about 10, two still live in Blackburn and one of them is about to move. Surely the club's database must tell them that but they don't seem to have grasped it.

The county palatine of Lancashire is the heartland of the game. North east doesn’t come close.
