Then I noticed Liverpool v Arsenal in the Super League had a gate of 500 the other week. I imagine the powers that be are concerned that yes, odd games can bring in big crowds, those initiatives with free tickets in Spain and Italy, growing sponsorship etc, but our pro top league just doesn’t seem to be growing with paying customers.

Exactly right Don. Make it £15 a ticket anywhere in the ground. Us and Bolton would sell substantially more. A season ticket pack (ha!) with every purchase . But nah, make it £27- £34 in the hope Bolton fetch 3,000 or so to rip off. I hope Bolton do come ‘in a taxi’, it will be a fitting finish to a season of largely poor away followings to Ewood and blows a hole in that nonsense Waggott was coming out with in the summer about moving home fans from the DE due to all those upcoming massive followings.

The common denominator since this lot arrived has been a succession of has-beens, never-beens and rookie appointments. Bowyer was learning his trade on our time with a squad of good players he just couldn’t get a proper tune out of, the rest of them were just a shower. Nothing will ever change with this lot at the helm.

I suppose we get spooked because we somehow ended up going down on an unheard of 51 points. That was a unique set of circumstances with some decent teams like Forest and Birmingham down there. This season isn’t like that.

Lowe is now out for the season, so another boost for them.

We are going to ‘finish 18th’ with the old guard playing anyway - 4 points from 30 tells us that. So what’s to lose playing Rothwell et al? It’ll give the fans a bit of pleasure in the arse end of a petered out season, if nowt else.
