  1. Like last season it looks as if we are going to be prone to collapses - but at least we had a good start last time.
  2. The 2001 ceremony was a great day from what I remember of it, though it did have the extra boost of it being a promotion to the PL.
  3. Reach for them stars Tony lad! “Where does it stop? It probably stops, hopefully for us, just outside the top six of the Premier League and there’s no reason why with the infrastructure this club can’t get back to the Premier League and not be a team fighting to get out of the bottom three. “At this moment, the top six have money the rest don’t have but I don’t see why Blackburn Rovers can’t get to a stage in the near future where they can compete in the Premier League with 14 clubs to stay there and be competitive.” “There are some success stories around us, and with all due respect if Burnley can achieve the season they are having in the Premier League then I’m very sure Blackburn Rovers, if we can get it right on the grass and create the right environment and culture around the football club then there’s no reason we can’t be competing with them.”
  4. Back to back relegations for Sunderland, that even beats Venky’s for ineptitude...
  5. West Ham bought that Hugill from Preston for £10 million. Hardly prolific in the Championship and hasn’t had a kick down there.
  6. Interesting quote from Mogga: The boss said of Dack: “The last two games he’s been pretty poor and we have had a good chat about it. “His performance level, how he’s got to look after himself, but he’s a great kid. He's obviously well aware that he's been spending a bit too much time in Essex nightspots these past few weeks
  7. Have any of your pals now found an undying love for Stanley, K-HOD?
  8. Really? We do get up, but Mogga loses his marbles and goes to Ipswich, I hope he’s near the top of any list of replacements.
  9. Oh I agree, but you can certainly see WHY managers stick to ‘proven pros’, the stakes are that high for managers these days. If Mowbray had flopped this season, that was probably it for him at a decent level - and the earning power etc that goes with it.
  10. Then on the flip side, the owners may think why keep a Cat 1 Academy going? Though, these days a lot of managers may think; why do long term planning/take a risk, i.e blooding youngsters in a promotion hunting campaign when they’re a run of bad results from the sack?
  11. Though he did have money, he spent well over a million quid on Dack, Samuel etc.! That's the problem when you nick a song from Sheff Wed!
  12. Of course, there is still BAE, Samlesbury site has a BB2 postcode, you know!
  13. As ever, most other clubs have had theirs out for weeks, if not months - even if they are unsure of what league they’ll be in next season. Cynic in me says they are holding off because they have two substantially different prices up their sleeves - i.e a price hike on promotion.
  14. Just for Gav http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/16133225.Comment__Are_Rovers__and_Tony_Mowbray__getting_the_credit_they_deserve_/
  15. Sounds about right, quite a few Hyndburn based folk on my Facebook who I know were Rovers fans have suddenly found an undying love for Accrington Stanley.
  16. Who are these 'lower league fans', Rovers fans? Are you still even a Rovers fan?
  17. It will be a complete disaster at the World Cup. FIFA will state it was ‘just a trial’ and it will never be head of again.
  18. India are sending a lot of their team over here for country cricket, great prep, much better than that pathetic knock about we had for this series. So thay are certainly coming here to win. The England Test team seems to have had a bit of a cosy, jobs for the boys feel to it for sometime now. It needs a shake-up.
  19. It is always a small minority of half- wits. It had seemed to die down in the mid 00s, I went to Germany '06, massive England following, but really well behaved from what I remember. I think Social Media, with live video etc has brought it back, I see evidence from my Facebook etc., of folk I half know from Rovers away days, they have little real interest in the national team, but seem to think singing about '10 German bombers' and so on whilst chucking plastic chairs in canals in the height of hilarity and what you do when going abroad to watch England. Just pathetic really.
  20. England team that were knocked out by Portugal in World Cup ‘06: Robinson, Neville, Terry, Ferdinand, Ashley Cole, Hargreaves, Beckham, Gerrard, Lampard, Joe Cole, Rooney Game of opinions and all that, but that side above didn’t compare to 1996, certainly not when it came to leaders.
  21. Was watching the highlights of England Holland Euro 96 on the Beeb website this morning. Now THAT was a team of leaders, with real quality too. Seaman, Pearce, Adams, Southgate, Neville, Ince, Gascoigne, McMananaman, Platt, Sheringham, Shearer. We've had a real decline this past twenty years.
  22. Disaster of a first day for England. Perhaps a two day knockabout as the only warm up wasn't the best idea...
  23. Read the other day we'd sold around 2/3k for each of our group games. Far cry from the hordes we took to Germany in '06 (though a decade of shite performances since may be another factor!)
  24. Two years left on his contract, would cost a small fortune, you would imagine. Season long loan could be a goer though...
