Wigan V ROVERS 28/11/18
Mattyblue replied to blueboy3333's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
It’s been brewing for a while. QPR was an appalling performance, we then scabbed a draw against Rotherham. If you want to progress you’ve got to be ruthless. A lot of those players may have ‘plenty of credit in the bank’, but are they Championship quality? If not, it doesn’t matter one iota what warriors they were in that tin pot League last season, get them out the side. Upgrade or you go backwards, we know that as a club all too well. -

I’m just relieved we got out of that god forsaken division at the first attempt... -

Just a shame one of our only 3 local aways is the midweek immediately after another. Was always going to hit numbers for this one. -
3pm
-
They always show one game at 3pm on Bank Holidays. Ours against Newcastle at Ewood in relegation season (Mulgrew free kick) was shown. I hope that it is still the case this season.
-
Always was. Potential biggest gate of the season for many clubs on Boxing Day down the toilet. Crazy, crazy deal.
-
I know they were, but that doesn’t change the fact they are being released in this way could very well be to help half ST sales... which is fine for them to do, by the way!
-
Of course. I’d love to hear that his dulcet tones were being piped down the phone of every fan on the database. But it won’t make much difference when sitting in mid table.
-
I suppose half ST sales were on a bit of a knife edge. Better results against Rotherham and Preston would have led to a lovely looking top 6 position just in time for many folks’ payday... alas in true Rovers style results turned instead - ergo wheel Mogga out.
-
Good chance you are right JH, but how many half season tickets are they expecting to fly out at £16-£23 a game for mid table second tier football? Normally no more than a few hundred half STs are sold. Perhaps that 10,500 target is a real red line for those further up the tree...

Behave chaddy. He ends up being our manager at some point and you’ll be all ‘TRUST COOKY!’ -

I did see a load of police and horses charge past the Guild Hall at one point. I was hoping it was something and nothing as it will be any excuse to make this fixture 12pm or a bubble... -

I thought the BBEnd/JWalker corner was the emergency vehicle entrance? -
What the manager is saying in public I hope is different to his actual thoughts on what this team can go on to achieve. Walking from the ground we were generally in agreement that they are a hard working bunch of players, but mid table is the limit of our ambition with them. And that’s fine as a promoted team. Mowbray has talked about this being a project that will take a few windows and it was the owners that needed reining back in the summer. Let’s hope they are still on board as we need to accept that around half the team needs upgrading if we want to progress.

I do imagine plenty of non Ewood attendees will be there today. But it’s a good point. I rang up for an extra ticket when they were on open sale and they didn’t ask who it was for, could have been for a season ticket holder for all they know... -

Half the time, half the questions, an agenda with more questions for the Execs would have been collated with more time, obviously. End of the day, I’m not particularly arsed as the meetings are just box ticking, another Fans Forum session with some different people in the room. Waggott doesn’t seem interested in listening to the ideas of fans, so bugger it, give the whole meeting to Mowbray and drop the pretence that the fans are being ‘consulted’ on anything. -

No he shouldn’t, because it takes away attention from off field matters that get less chance of an airing than signings, tactics etc and gets the execs off the hook for half the meeting as the reps hang on Mowbray’s every word. I could listen to Mogga all day, love the bloke. But there should be separate Q&As with managers and players, indeed I went to one a few years back with Allardyce in the Premier Suite. -

They’re not coaches, just part of the fabric of the club. -

Funny you say that SG, just watching a piece on Sky with Lambert at Ipswich training. Terry Butcher, John Wark and George Burley were all at the session. I may be wrong, but I assume you don’t have Rovers legends trapping at Brockhall? -

I always remember something brewing around 98/99, then we got relegated and it wasn’t brought up again -

In the 90s we had a few games in which thousands of kids were brought from schools. The day of the Le Tiss wonder goal was one. Club was going for the title and we still did it. Now obviously much easier to get kids to come to watch that then Rovers V Brentford, plus are teachers as willing to give up their Saturday, all the risk assessing etc... However, you look over to Stanley and much more certainly needs to be done here.
