  1. It seems a bit harsh to me to talk of sacking Mowbray at this stage, although I did get very frustrated at the bit of the match I saw on TV yesterday and I do understand that it must be hard to watch it go wrong at the ground. However, do you trust even the marginal improved version of venkys we have now to improve on Mowbray if they do decide to get rid? I voted review in summer but I read the interview in the LT where he said about needing staff in the summer so perhaps that'll be the help he needs
  2. I've got a bit of all sorts too as my husbands a southerner so I've used some of his phrases and he used some of mine. I just tried to think back to what I used to say when I was a kid but for me the telling words were nithered and mafted. Never heard them anywhere but Teesside and me when I say them still
  3. It covered the north east from Northumberland to Hull for me and nearly as far across as the border with lances. Covering all bases when one word should have told it exactly or almost exactly where I was from
  4. Broads catch worth watching!
  5. First half was fun. Bit more of a fight in the second.
  6. Guendouzi had just broken into Lorients team in ligue 2 when arsenal bought him. Bigger step up I'd say. Not saying this would be a good signing were it true as I haven't a clue about the player but don't write it off just because of where he is now
  7. This was how England should have been playing for ages but we've always seemed too nervy to do so. We've always had the talent but a lot of our players were very inexperienced at this level. Now they've matured a bit and can play to their strengths. Good to see Tom Curry of Sale put in a good performance despite his sending off
  8. We have 2 new stewards do we?
  9. I suspect the applause was at best polite and largely relief that he was going
  10. Do people actually report posts? ? I can't believe it unless they contain offensive material. An odd harsh remark or a dig at someone should be water off a ducks back
  11. I know it didn't but you set yourself up for it. Feel free to delete mods if you wish.
  12. Sorry? I meant will Tyrone be upset if Chaddy doesn't reply.
  13. Do you think he'll be upset?
  14. There's the quote from PB, saying he has doubts over whether Brereton will make it at this level. Report post Posted 1 hour ago I have the same doubts but it’s not time to say “he’s garbage” or “a waste of money”. I also don’t recall PB saying he doesn’t think he will make the grade either. I also watched the same game. You couldn’t single him out as someone not showing effort or desire from what I saw. He doesn’t look confident or exactly sure his role, but that’s a bit different to the lazy/attitude problem you just suggested. Im not sure why you’d pick that to disagree with either? Am I to assume that you think we should’ve completely blown the wage budget and the fact we aren’t spending any more is “unambitious?” I don't think I said Brereton was garbage or a waste of money. In fact I never once referred to the fee paid, and I didn't mention the words lazy attitude. I simply stated that he looked short of desire to make an impression in the one game I watched him in, and as it was a cup tie, I do feel he should have been busting a gut, chasing lost causes and hoping he could be an instant hero. I also clearly said I wouldn't write him off on the basis of that one game as it was all I'd seen. For your information I don't think I've expressed any opinion whatsoever on how much we should have spent this window on either fees or wages. I never do. I've never mentioned ambition in any post on our club in many years. I do feel that we could perhaps have found a striker we could bring in who could play immediately and give us better options than we seem to have atm, but we didn't and I'll not be crying about it. Every club should be as ambitious as they can afford to be without compromising their future, but I neither know anything about the budget we were operating on nor do I know who was potentially available within that budget or what they might have brought to the team, so I wouldn't be castigating the manager for the lack of a new striker.
  15. I honestly don't know. Perhaps, like a lot on here, they hoped he'd come good if they kept playing him. Perhaps they were short of strikers and he has to play. Perhaps he's one of those who looks good as a young teen only to fail to progress. That happens to lots of youngsters. Could be any number of reasons
  16. Parson watches a lot of our academy matches and has a very positive attitude to our young players. He has doubts about Brereton. If he, who is encouraging of our youth, thinks Brereton probably won't cut the mustard, then I suspect he won't. I saw Brereton myself at St James Park and wasn't impressed with the look of him but I wouldn't judge him on that alone. However, I do have to say that I felt he didn't even show desire let alone ability that day.
  17. No, it's not just you. If they do a job for us I don't care if they were born and bred in Burnley, went on to score loads of goals for them, got them promoted or whatever. It's not about what you've done for other clubs. It's what you do for us
  18. Then you should qualify it as your opinion instead of simply dismissing it out of hand as though you knew
  19. I haven't said I think it will, but you were very definite it wouldn't.
  20. Can I ask what you're prepared to do if it does happen?
  21. I wouldn't either but my daughter works in sport and is married to a Burnley fan so she did
  22. My daughter and her friend, who lived in Waddington got invited for a drink and a biscuit by LeSaux when they were playing in the stream by his house. Roy Hodgson used to live in the same road as daughters friend behind the lower buck. And henning Berg lived in a flat just up from Clitheroe library while Damien Johnson lived in chatburn. Nowadays they do live further afield though
  23. Hale, Boden etc ain't that far from Blackburn. Saw a couple of Burnley players and Jordan Pickford in Altrincham Market Hall recently
  24. They didn't exist when I was a kid there. They're a fairly recent invention
