Why are you planning to watch it in the toilet?
-
I know it's better that Belgium go through for all sorts of reasons but the sight of Fellaini celebrating is, in itself, a reason for me to wish Japan had put them out.
-
When a player rolls about like that, you know he's not actually hurt, but reacting to try to get a player carded. If a player is really injured rolling about is the last thing on his mind. Neymars behaviour does not help himself. Fair enough, he may be targeted, he may deserve better treatment than he gets, but if you feign or exaggerate injury and go down like you've been seriously injured every time a fly kicks you, what do you expect?

Is there any way in any kind of parallel universe that both Uruguay and Portugal can go out because if so I'll happily move tbdrd
-
Totally with you again Rev. Changes yes but wholesale no. To start with it disrupts play too much. Sides that don't normally play together have to work much harder. But the main thing is that where does Southgate go if we go out to Colombia. Especially if as expected, the Belgians beat Japan really easily. He's left himself almost no wriggle room especially with pundits and press who were already critic last week. His bosses might not sack him but the press will turn I feel

Clubs always quote bigger prices early in but are often a bit more accommodating when they realise they might miss out on players they need if they don't get a sale sorted. We almost certainly have very little cash and won't want to pay a price now that might be lower when the real activity starts as the world Cup progresses and the start of the season draws nearer
-
It's not often I say this but I'm with you Rev. Didn't see it. Only listened on the radio as travelling to Plymouth but it sounded completely inept. I couldn't believe the number of changes and my daughter phoned on her way home from work almost incandescent with rage

Definitely with you on beards and tattoos. We're getting old

Dunny leaving his role at Rovers

Most people would see that as a no contest -
We all have questions and we don't support every decision made or go into raptures about every signing, or most of us don't. However nor do most of us merely criticise and snipe all the time either. Question what people think a player will bring to the team by all means. I don't know what Rothwell will bring, if anything. But to have a go at fellow fans lack of ambition just because they're trying to see what he might bring and see our first signing, hopefully not our only one, in a positive light is not constructive debate.

So are you saying that if we don't kick up a fuss, man the barricades, protest at every match, we're not true Rovers fans. If people want to watch Rovers, that's their prerogative. I tried protesting and if there was a decent protest movement with a clear agreed focus I still would, but that ship has sailed. So what else is there to do but watch matches if you want to, support the decent manager we now have and the decent players he's brought in. They are not superstars and are probably not what we need in most cases if we want to move up the leagues, but they work hard and give their best, something that can't be said of many players recently. I don't accept that our rightful place is lower championship. It's mid table premiership in my book with the odd decent cup runs, but for now we are where we are and nothing we can do can change that. It's not resignation. It's just deciding to shelve grievances for a while. They're still there. Next time Venkys mess up, they'll come to the fore again, but there is no way our grievances impact on them.

Nobody likes freebies or cheap players or loans. We all know that to really progress we need to spend some real money, but we do understand that the cash isn't there for well documented reasons, and we have to tailor our expectations to the real world. But you know that don't you?

Dunny leaving his role at Rovers

I don't love him but nor do i understand the vitriol aimed at him by some others. Yes, he put his foot in it over the Kean era but how many others stood up and said what a total waste of space, to put it politely, he was? He's made a decision to leave. He doesn't have to share his reasons with us, just as i don't have to share my reasons for retiring when I did with anyone else, although i did to those who really wanted to know. It's his life and he's entitled to live it as he wants provided he doesn't deliberately hurt others or do anything illegal. -
Could have taken his cap off, put on a decent jacket and shirt. I think Mowbray has seen an attitude problem in there somewhere and the lack of suitable dress sense, an idea of what's appropriate to the occasion, is just the obvious outward sign of it

I don't get why there are so many theories about this. Seems to me he's 40ish and feels he needs a change. If you're not going to get to the top in management or can't see yourself making a career in it at whatever level, why not do something else? He has been in football since he was a kid. How many people nowadays stay in the same line of work for their whole working life? -
No. They've taken their caps off. It might spoil their hairdo
-
Will only be long if he doesn't get sacked
-
Still doesn't excuse own goals if they were as blatant as those who saw them say they were. I don't object to his wanting to move if he felt unwanted but I do object to that behaviour if it happened as fans tell.
-
It's the hope that kills you. I keep coming here to see if there's a hint of a rumour that might be true but nothing. I know full well that if I stop looking we'll sign 3 players and sell someone

Not much of the income is derived from ST sales at most clubs though. It's getting people into the ground which helps to promote merchandise sales food sales etc. It's not up to us to decide what we want anyway because we have no influence on decision making as has been proved many a time since Venkys arrived. We could have massive ST sales and still not see any signings if Venkys decided not to authorise purchases but paid off some debt with it not a reason not to buy, but a sad fact of life -

It's chicken and egg though isn't it? You can't make signings without ST sales. ST purchases for some people rely on an element of excitement that new signings bring. The problem is that if a decent signing were announced today, the ST prices have already gone up from the early bird price so the club wouldn't be able to cash in on that either, unless they announced the offer was extended for a week then you'd have 2 feel good moments together that might tempt a few waverers -

Nor did he. He merely pointed out that for some people making signings or other things might well be a deciding factor. You stated it shouldn't be. For you its not and we understand that, but not everyone is the same. We're not talking here about the committed. We're talking about others who might show a greater level of commitment if other circumstances persuaded them. -

What the club failed to realise or act upon is that football is in competition for the leisure pound as I think it's called. It can no longer rely on Chaddys type of loyalty. There is a whole raft of other things to do out there, many of which are cheaper, better value for money, better marketed. Once again the club has, without consultation, closed a stand to a group of its fans. It might make sense but they could have at least talked about it first with those affected to discuss the reasons and show some understanding of supporters feelings. None of the things they've done, the price rise, the closing of the DE to home fans, the failure to get STs out before the last match of the season (poor marketingstrategy. Many would have bought in th euphoria of the day) is that bad in itself, but taken together they make a catalogue of mistakes that may well be reflected in ST sales
