This is a bit like your argument on "maximising" revenue by upping the prices for match tickets . It's an easy opt out decision with potentially disastrous long term implications of alienating the very supporters it depends on. Surely if the club was not making much money or none at all they would have been better addressing the issue head on - not simply pass the buck . -

Nice one ... Hope it's not too close to the truth .... -
Rhetorical question . If Kuqi had been partnering McCarthy up front this season ....would he have done better and scored more than Nonda ?

Well maybe it's me then Rev and my interest in the game in general is waning , but I thought it was a very ordinary game between one very ordinary team and one godawful team . Excellence and enthusiastic aren't words I'd use to describe anything about the performance . A decent striker would have had a hatful of goals yesterday . Oh ..and the ref's performance didn't help ; it was abysmal . It's no wonder we have players cheating and diving when there's refs around who are so easily conned as this clown . -
By "football as a whole" presumably you mean the club chairmen and chief executives should be working together on the issue of attendances . That might mean working together without the "big" clubs - it should be remembered that they need the rest of the league just as much - if not more- than we need them . Sky should be made aware that that is the case as well ....

I can hardly believe that . if the likes of Man U are rejecting him then his next move should be to a club like Rovers . With all due respect to the American league it's still a big move up in his career to play in the prem with any team . I'd definitely like to see Rovers take an interest with regard to a future signing . I saw him play a couple of years back and he was obviously a massive talent ; perhaps a move and a new environment would suit him well . As for the work permit I'm sure that doesn't present too much of a problem these days . -

A massive over exageration . Don't forget we were playing perhaps the worst prem team I've seen in years (only Man City last year can really compare) . Nonda only scored due to a defender inexplicably standing a couple of yards behind his fellow defenders and playing him onside , and a keeper , also inexplicably , standing near his far post . McCarthy's goal was a fluky deflection . McCarthy is still far better than Nonda but neither have shown IMO anything worthy of serious praise . -

I can't remember every incident he's been in ....my point is that he shouldn't really rate in the worst 50 or so of premiership players when it comes to cheating and diving . Mind you his kissing of the UTD shirt last night moves him up a few places .. -

I'm not in a position to judge the scientific arguments , Den and don't pretend to know enough about the subject . I am , of course , willing to entertain the idea that some scientists may have a vested interest in keeping the idea in the public eye ..... But what will any good changing or "redistribution" of the taxation system do if the oil's running out in a few decades anyway ? It's just plain nonsense by any objective viewpoint . Do you really trust the proven liar Blair to use any money raised to invest in new forms of energy ? If you do you're probably on your own . -

I have the feeling that this "diffident" nature will hold him back at any of the top clubs . Bellamy has a similar problem with his "opposite to diffident" nature . I'm with Den and co that Bellamy is a far better player with greater potential . -
It did cross my mind as a possibility........but then you said "sensible" , so that rules the main suspect jim out

Good luck to Rooney . One of the few honest players left . When he starts diving around like a prima donna on the pitch I may change my mind ....but until then , I'll judge the "chav" comments for what they are ....pure snobbery . -

95% does seem rather a lot , Den ..... Do you think increased taxation will bring that down by ....err...half a per cent ? At best ? Even if all the governments in the world join in ? -

Thank you , Joey .....but that was only my reply to the government's idea of taxation which would hit the poorest hardest and not deter the rich at all . Ideally I would have no such taxes for the simple reason that oil and coal based fuels are going to run out in thirty odd years (or so the scientists who we all know are never wrong keep on saying) . Therefore , taxation or no taxation will do absolutely nothing on the scale of things to help "save the planet" . What difference does it make if we have to wait 30 years , 40 years or 50 years to conjure up alternative forms of energy ? Those who honestly believe Blair's and Brown's proposed taxes will do anything other than fill the treasury cannot see the bigger picture . Useful idiots you might call them ... -
He wouldn't have to plead these days , Theno .....

It used to be safe !! My old gran used to live just up the road from Corpy park ; we used to spend all day there ..and into the evening . I'd be very uneasy at the thought of kids wandering around there after tea time . Anyway , FLB ...you're the historian - you should be giving us the answers -

A fair assessment . A lively lightweight . Is that good enough at prem level ? -
Me also , Theno The main reason I chose Krakow was that I knew it would be less crowded and there'd be more opportunity to get away from the half wits in the stadium . Another reason was that the train journey back to Amsterdam was always going to a nightmare . Away matches have to well planned these days , I'm afraid . You have to avoid the morons on the one side and the smug , smart arse student types on the other
