  1. The Basle drummer was very bad as well the other night . Not as bad as ours , of course , but bad nonetheless ...
  2. I'm pretty sure Roma only had around the 10,000 mark the other night for a champs league game . I wonder how their prices compare .
  3. There was one interview a couple of years ago with a fellow Rovers player when Tugay could be heard in the background doing farmyard impressions . May be best to leave him be ...
  4. ...or queueing up at the ticket office for the Krakow home game . (sorry Gordon ) Hordens eh ? Great news . Couldn't happen to a bigger to$$er . I'll have a drink to celebrate tonight
  5. You could send the club a cheque for a nice few quid if you think they're worth such a lot more ..
  6. Don't be daft , Gordon . If prices are raised to anything above or even approaching £20 adult and £10 concessions for the Nancy game ...and you'll find out what an embarrassing attendance really looks like . You carry on campaigning to "maximising revenue" .....but don't whinge when you sit down with 8,000 or less supporters . PS - You mention the Asians in our town . You shouldn't even waste your time . They are never going to come in any numbers whatsoever - they don't give a toss about the town nor its team . It's time to come to grips with the fact that we are a town with a fan base of about 80,000 .
  7. Bentley wandered about all over the place far too much , particular in the first half . Still , I suppose it's better than hiding from the play . Mokoena and Gray appear to me not to be quick enough at this level - and that's probably more the speed of thought than movement I'm afraid . Contrast that with Tugay who has as good a football brain as anyone who has set foot on the sacred turf and skill to match . Nonda has still everything to prove to me , both in application , movement and skill . Not half the player of his fellow forward , McCarthy . At the risk of incurring The Drog's wrath I must say that I would have liked to see Gallagher introduced 15 or 20 mins earlier yesterday to play up front with Benni . Besides that it was a very enjoyable game ..but it could have been different but for bad finishing from Basle and excellent keeping from Brad .
  8. Well you asked the question , Den , and considering that it's the government which determines taxation , how one earth could I not mention the morons ?
  9. A tax on the number of miles an air passenger travels or the number of flights he/she does in a year . It's not rocket science . I think in the 21st century it could be feasible to do this - even by this cretinous government that you so admire .
  10. Read again , Den . I was talking about taxing the number of miles a person does...
  11. Instead of putting a blanket tax on all cheap flights (which incidentally would leave many isolated areas without the benefits of tourism and trade) maybe our Government in its wisdom could tax according to the miles a person does in any given year . For example those rich ba$tardos who travel on holiday every other week and have multiple homes would pay through the nose on an ever increasing scale the more they travelled . Any chance of the Gov't taking an option other than that which would hit the poorest hardest and the well off the least ? I somehow doubt it .
  12. I've evn heard scientists warn against milk .....and you can't get more natural than that
  13. Absolute garbage . What do you suggest then , Jan ? Carry on charging unrealistic and unacceptable prices (to most people other than yourself of course) and watch gates go down by 2000 every bloody year !!!? You're suggesting that the way to "maximise revenue" is to decrease it - along with attendances - year on year . Absolutely crazy . The club are (belatedly) doing their best to create interest and help generate new fans in the only way possible ..ie - getting punters through the turnstiles via sensible prices . For some illogical reason that's not good enough for you .
  14. You've let me down , FLB . I felt sure it would be AESF responsible for restarting a thread after two years
  15. Good news for Gallagher then to prove his worth . I'd have him higher up the pegging order than Roberts and Jeffers anyway .
  16. Just as well you're referring to the French and not any other nation.... This was the game we should have played away from home . France is lovely . Let's hope the Cross of Lorraine isn't too heavy a burden for us as it was for Churchill
  17. Burnley have the same problem as us , economically , demographically etc etc . Keep ticket prices high ......and lose punters through the gate at a rate of a couple of thousand a season . Sooner or later the fan base is gone . Rovers , belatedly , have seen the light and realised that good attendances in the long run take precedence over (very) short term financial "gain" . It is easy to say that those two sentences don't belong together . In fact they do . Clubs such as ours have to think firstly and lastly of the long term future - otherwise there won't be a medium term future . In a way I feel sorry for the Dingles - they don't even have a trust fund to play with . we do - and we must use it to get crowds through the turnstile . Forget about J Walker's words about being financially solvent ; that's not going to happen in the prem league by having artificially high prices .
  18. Close - just over 5 zlotys to the pound You'll probably enjoy that new film "Borat"
  19. You're lucky I don't charge you for the words or wisdom , Yank ....
  20. I was lucky enough to come from a stable background and go to a decent skool As for national service it would be a good idea for everyone - all classes , all backgrounds . That's how it used to be I think . Even girls should have their own version ...and by the conduct and appearance of a lot of them these days they need it more than the lads !! Criminals need to be punished according to their crime ....but I'd guess that crime and imprisonment levels would sink like a stone after a few years or so of Nat Service .
