Me too, kit looks late 70’s early 80’s under Kendal, where is that pic taken?

I couldn't agree more, its just that moment in time, very special indeed. You don't need an account to look at this facebook page, hope you've got a spare 2/3hrs! https://www.facebook.com/groups/blackburnnowandthen/

Great contrast Colt. I pulled the photo from 'Blackburn now and then' - taken from Mill Hill flats, Easter fair 1972. I couldn't possible ask Riversider28 for royalties, or could I 😀

My dad said that in 1990 when I told him we'd tried to sign Gary Lineker - 😃 But yes DeeCee, its hypothetical.....

Yes

Leeds spent much more than that, you are cherry picking again. But.... If Mowbray sold Armstrong for £30m and reinvested that £30m in players, would you argue he’d spent net zero? Had nothing to spend? Or sack him he’s wasted a fortune?
-
His record thus far doesn’t support your faith in Hughton, but time will tell marton, you could be right. Again you’re cherry picking, Mowbray has been with us 4+ seasons - Leeds have spent well over £40m in that time, we’re not even close EA.
-
Like I said, Leeds spent over £40m getting out of the championship, Mowbray has spent peanuts in comparison. You can cherry pick all you like, but the facts remain the same.
-
Did I read recently that Hughton had only won 4 out of 17 games? He could well be sacked shorty? Why do think they'll be ahead of us with a record like that?
-
Leeds have spent over £40m on players in the championship since Mowbray has been in charge of us, massive amounts, which puts our mediocre outlay into some perspective. West Brom had pots of cash from the Premiership and Udders and Cardiff are below us in the table, championship sides. The grass isn't always greener sadly...
-
Go and look at how much Villa spent, how much Leeds spent, Wolves had the super agent and world class players to pick from, West Brom had millions, Cardiff had Warnock and are a championship side, Huddersfield are also a championship side. I can give you 17 teams that don’t fit your sunny uplands narrative year on year, of which we are one.

Or inherit someone else's, who'd be a chairman eh? Notts Forest twisted, Sheff Weds twisted, Middleborough twisted several times, Bolton twisted, Stoke twisted, Sunderland twisted, all failed, some very badly. Be careful what you wish for, another Owen Coyle could be just around the corner.
-
I think the losses column is more telling than GA column to be honest Sparks. I understand why some want Mowbray sacked, if you can't beat Sheff Weds at home on the back of the season they've had you're going to struggle, we were extremely lucky against Rotherham also, it doesn't look good for our chances of a play off spot. I said he needs time in this league, his players need time to adapt to this league and he's now had that time and despite gradual improvements he's not going to take this side to the next level. All that said, we can't compete with the likes of Watford, Swansea, Norwich, Brentford or Bournemouth, all clubs enjoying the trappings of recent flirts with the Premiership, in Brentford's case massive transfer fees, big wages, refreshing the squad year on year, so that leaves 1 spot on that basis. Reading this thread the alternatives to Mowbray are either pie in the sky or perennial failures, for now I think I'd stick and hope for the best.

Haven't we improved our league position/point total every season we've been in the Championship?
-
Just watched the first 2 episodes on your recommendation den, funny.
-
Day of the Hillsborough disaster if memory serves me correctly.
-
India look like beating Aussies after the debacle in 1st test, should set things up nicely. No Virat either.
-
Finished The Yorkshire Ripper last night, very good den. The thing that strikes me every time I watch anything on Ripper is how the police demonised/categorised those poor women, more or less saying they deserved it. Different times I know, but shocking to see these days.

Was that Whisper Death ‘Michael Holding’ pummelling Close and Edrich? Close with no helmet and very little protection, just brutal, no wonder Botham looked up to Close. Tough tough men.
-
The first thing that strikes me is the massive following on a Friday night, we have always had great support when doing well. That draw was a turning point for me, I was distraught after the Leicester game, Palace was fresh in the mind, but it was full steam ahead and we never looked back. Great memories.

We all argue like cat and dog, but we all have one thing in common and that is we support the biggest and best club from a small town in Lancashire. Football goes in cycles, we'll come again one day, I just hope I'm around to see it. All the best to everyone who makes this site worth visiting and I want to make a special mention to the mods who do a fantastic job often in difficult circumstances. The beers are on me, see you in the Blues Bar on Boxing day, put your tipple on my tab 👍 9 points from the next 3 games would be tremendous, but I'd take 7 now. Happy Christmas one and all. Don't forget - The Futures Bright, the future will always be blue and white.

Kevin 'Rooster' Russell - Another one I can still see vividly after all these years. Mimms was always prone to a mistake or 3...
-
My son mentioned this a few days ago, I’ll certainly be taking a look.

Hughes spent £10m on Savage and Bellamy alone, £30m in todays market, but yes he recouped plenty from sales. Since he left Ewood he's been seen more of a chequebook manager - £140m at Stoke I read recently, what was he thinking....
-
I loved Mark Hughes time at Ewood, almost brought back the Kenny years, I couldn't wait for the next game to come, superb. As for him coming back, not a chance, he needs money to build a side and wouldn't work with the 3 stooges in Pune, its a pipe dream sadly. We have 3 very winnable games coming up, if Mowbray can get 7 points from 3 I'd be more than happy with the current injury crisis, sets us up nicely for the NY. He's going nowhere, best to get behind him I say.
