Rovers v Leeds, Ewood, 12.00 KO, 20th October
Gav replied to darrenrover's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
I've seen Leeds a few times this season and they're a good side, full of running with a bit of quality thrown in for good measure, but they've only won 2 of the last 7. I'd put Leeds in the same catagory as Derby and Sheff Utd, so I'd take a draw now, 1-1. -
Your favourite manager and mine used to adopt that approach week in week out and failed away from home almost every match we played. You loved that approach then 47er? It was a very good 3 points at a ground where we don't usually come away with anything, just enjoy the win and bragging rights.
-
Thats a great result, especially after the mauling we took in mid week. A 1-0 win at Bolton is better than I expected and credit to Mowbray for picking that side from the off and then sealing off the win. I hope all the Rovers fans in Leyland, Wheelton, Adlo and Chorley enjoy that tonight. The Bolton game for them is bigger than burnley, enjoy it ?

I'm sure I'm missing the context here, because you have much more sense than to be advocating a change of manager TS. To even suggest such a thing should encourage howls of derision, closely followed by men in white coats dragging you away for electric shock treatment! But to last nights game, a bit like Derby away, both opposition teams are just better than us, it's as simple as that. Sheff Utd looked a top 6 side for long periods, great movement and most players 1 step ahead our lot. They're the benchmark for me so far this season, the place we need to be, but we're on the right track.
-
Plenty have moved on, you should think about doing the same. It doesn't make you less of a fan, we all agree he's a 'c u next Tuesday' If he ever comes back to Ewood in any capacity I for one will be waiting for an 'autograph', but for now it's all about the present.

We probably wouldn't have won the league cup no, nor the FA Cup, but anyone who thinks resting players for a promotion push is living in cloud cuckoo land in my opinion. So what's left Davey? What reason have we rested key players? So they can run around Marbella until 4am on the next International break? Doesn't make any sense to me, you play your best players at our level, no excuses.
-
Sorry Parson but it's an absolute blight on modern day football that hurts the paying public. The worse cases such as Cardiff away in the cup under **** will live long in the memory. You play your best team, With a full strength side we'd have won last night, like Derby did at Utd. We won this competition in 2002, one of the many highlights supporting the club...but we won't be winning it this year because the manager doesn't think it's important. Take nothing away from the players on show by the way, good performer by all accounts.

First time in a long time I feel the need to critisize the manager. Why on earth are we dropping players so early in the season? And worse of all the reason given: 'We won't get back till 4am'!! They'll be tired!! What about the fans Mowbray? The 200 or so loyal fans that are making that 12hr round trip? They deserved better last night and were let down by the manager. Not good enough.

I didn't follow the game yesterday but taking this result in isolation I have to agree with an earlier poster, this was probably the best result we've had under Mowbray. I'd even go as far as to say it's the best result since Venkys started the destriction of the club. A side recently promoted from league 1 beating a recently relegated Premiership club with the likes of Ince, Berahinio, Allen and Adobe in its ranks is a superb achievement, and we should all be very proud of the players and manager. We are by no means the finished article, I believe we are some way off challenging the top 6, but progress under Mowbray has been nothing short of remarkable under the circumstances, and long may it continue. Onwards and upwards.
-
We definitely didn't beat them in the Premiership winning season, I along with 4000 fellow Rovers can vouch for that. Tremendous following that day, loud and proud, but they did us a favour in the final game. But yes West Ham is certainly a bogey ground, as is Old Trafford. Never seen us win at either.....

I don't live in Lancashire myself but I made a special effort to visit here last time I was in the area: http://www.thecartfordinn.co.uk/ superb place to eat, a bit out of the way but worth it.

It's absolutely disgusting, vile and I hope he gets locked up if they can pin the drugs on the scumbag. What makes you cruise round a red light area looking for vulnerable women to abuse? Scum

Ah yes, can't argue with that pal, spot on. Have you Seen the Billy Joe Saunders story from earlier today? I was warming to Fury after his last fight, but he's guilty by association, they don't give a toss, and whilst I hesitate in saying this I do believe it's cultural, b0llox to the rules, they don't apply to us, sad really.

Can't see that happening Bigs.

Just goes to show how good Mayweather is, despite him being a complete arse. He had little or no problems beating Alvarez, just technically far superior. Strong rumours of Pacman v Mayweather 2, the first fight was 3/4yrs too late, this one only makes sense for the bank balances, i'd probably not watch it.
-
I've had time to watch the fight again and it was much closer than I originally thought. I think you're right tomphil, a draw was certainly the best result this time around but that would have been a bridge to far for many, especially the promotion team. 2 very good fights, let's do it again in the New Year.

Its in every town and city across the country, but Blackburn has had very few reports of this kind in the local press from what I've seen. Manchester has been the subject of many reports over the past 12 months, a documentary or 2 also, but it's across the whole country because it's so cheap and not heroin. I feel sorry for the police, under funded, under resourced and having to respond to spice cases like the one in video when they should be doing real police work. This country is fecked.

Most Famous Blackburn Lad Ever?
Gav replied to Exiled in Toronto's topic in I Can't Believe It's Not Football
I can't understand why you're trying to fight this battle on 2 forums Vinjay? Xenophobia, racism and downright irrational hatred of certain groups isn't recognisable to many who frequent this site, so no wonder posters are not that interested. You'd be better served fighting the battle on - http://roversfans.com/ surely? -
Golovkin = Robbed - Again. Much better fight than the last one, 2 warriors that left nothing in the ring, but GGG won that on everyone's card other than the judges at ringside. Oh well, I'm sure we'll do it all again very soon.

As usual some right bobbins being talked on here.... That was a very good performance from a side that lost at home to AFC Wimbledon this time last year. Its disappointing to lose a late goal, was it even a free kick? But what a tremendous strike. Mowbray has worked wonders since his arrival, brought in a bunch of players that actually give a sh1 t and I, like most fans, couldn't be happier with progress so far. Onwards and upwards. -
Just reading through the whole thread it's striking how the level of debate on the site in general has deteriorated since 2014, but hey that's progress. Bolton won't go out of business, clubs like ours always survive. But if they go into admin and subsequently get relegated its party time for them in league 1 Lucky swines!
