When Blackburn was a good night out Ciren, terrible place now, run down and not a decent pub in the town centre
-
I was only talking about Eanam Wharf today, was a terrible hole the last time I went in about 5yrs ago We visited the Calypso Carribean when it was at the Woodlands and enjoyed it.

Agree fully, food is great and consistently so. Best place I’ve eaten of late is The Mulberry Tree in Wrightington, great menu and very reasonably priced. Mulberry Tree I've also rediscovered Cafe Rouge, not really my sort of place, but had 2 great meals there recently.

Really saddened by this news, only saw him in the summer having a meal at a pub on the outskirts of burnley. One club man, captain of England, absolute legend. RIP Ronnie.

Here here, not enough Characters in the game these days. RIP

Went to see Proud Mary on Friday night, a band thats been around since 2000 with different members, but always kept the lead singer. A cross between Bob Dylan and The Band/The verve, a winning combination if I ever saw one. Quality gig at sound control in Manchester, about 100 people there, very intimate and really enjoyable. Saw an unsigned band also, Richard Dutton and the So So’s, good tunes and hope they do well, have a listen on myspace. -

Not as good as the Pet Shops boys on the other stage, what a performance and visually the stage show was fantastic. Never thought I’d say it, but I’d pay to watch them live. Tris – sort the tickets pal Agree with Oz also - Mumford and sons are a breath of fresh air, hoping to catch them live soon also. -

Can't get over the fact his dads in the band also Love the Mumford and Sons album, not usually my taste but its great. -
I heard that also, wonder if its an urban myth or it actually happened? I know my dad and 50 of his mates walked to Blackpool one Friday night after the pubs shut, some time late 60’s or early 70’s. Not sure if it was the game Rovers fans got banned from travelling away due to violence and an ammonia attack on the bpool fans? Or is that a myth also?

FFS every thread...... Anyway, I guess it takes all sorts? I was knocked sideways yesterday when I read the write up on the pack horse Belthorn, 8 and 9’s all the way down. I went several months ago now and have to say it was the worst Italian food I had ever tasted, mate of mine found a piece of metal in his pasta on another occasion , than they did about the menu. Truly awful, but the Telegraph reporter doesn’t think so….

Went to see The Courteeners last Saturday night and I have to say its probably the best gig i've been to at King Georges Hall, they had the place bouncing. The Doves have just been announced playing, lets hope the place can become a regular venue again like it was back in the 80's when everyone played there. The music is @#/?, but the all day sounds good -
The Stella isn't bad, not eaten there for years though.

Back on topic I was told recently, that its gone significantly downhill, and the prices remain high. I went about 6 months ago and decided not to eat in the end, as the place was swarming with kids running around the place. Be interested to know what you think should you go, because it’s a great setting, pity if the food is poor. I went to The Toby in Edgeworth last night. We had to wait for a table, which I don’t mind, but once served I wasn’t overly impressed with the food. It was ok but I’d not go out of my way to visit again. Garlic bread Fish soup Mushrooms with spinach and parmesan cheese Chicken and mushroom risotto Greek style Pizza Glass of wine Peroni £52

New UK Live Date - Blackburn King George's Hall Breaking news - The Courteeners have just added a new date to their forthcoming spring tour. Saturday 13th March - Blackburn King George's Hall Tickets to the show go on sale Friday 12 February at 9am from all usual ticket outlets. -
We often have a pint in The Royal Oak after work, great old fashioned pub, but I've never been struck on the food, always thought the menu was poor. We went to Anon, French Cafe & Bistro, Poulton-le-Fylde a few weeks ago, and despite the owners best efforts to put us off our food, it was in fact excellent. The owner is a little ‘quirky’ to say the least, took the bank card at the end and said: “You’re not getting this back” and kept pulling the card away when you grabbed for it, not exactly everyone’s cup of tea, and he was full on throughout the meal, very strange….. but the venue and food are excellent. Oh yes, he played Leonard Cohen throughout the meal which could send some people over the edge also

Just been told the guy is in hospital, lets hope he pulls through.

Not the correct thread I know, but can't help but think Eiders best days are behind him, hardly setting the French league on fire. Also the weight of expectation on his shoulders, should he come here, almost sets the lad up to fail. Not sure what alternatives we have, but Eider isn't the man for Ewood for me. Just one of the reasons fans are switching off to top flight football. Same goes for that waste of space Robiniho, who the **** does he think he is? I know its City but still.....
-
As most people are aware Allardyce isn’t top of my Christmas card list but you can’t blame him for big macs antics. Benni has always had this in his make-up, didn’t he do the same to get a move to Ewood in the first place? He’s done the same at international level also, and whilst I think he still has something to offer, he should be fined 2wks wages for not turning up to training, and shipped out if the price is right sooner rather than later. Modern day footballers, don’t you just love em!

Constant Section 60 and the filming at every football match you attend, is surely an infringement of your human rights. Just needs someone with the desire and finance to challenge such behaviour by the police, and I’m sure with the correct council the outcome would be positive. They’re again banning people with little more evidence than association and that’s not right either. Not that I’m saying all bans are unwarranted, but plenty all over the country are being stitched up and that’s not right. I challenged the police at Sunderland a few seasons ago who spent the first 45 minutes seemingly filming me. They told me to sit down and shut up or I’ll be arrested? Where else do you pay £30 to be entertained, end up being threatened with arrest for asking a question, and still return week after week for more! You have no rights as a football supporter, the police can do what they wish and you can't do anything about it, becuase you're guilty before being proven so.

Shame he got all 'Billy big time' when Kenny joined the club, tried to hold them to ransom over a new deal and lost.

What about the Bee hole end and the scene from Zulu trs

Taken from another thread: I recall being told a story about a lad that used to drink in the Clifton arms and later worked in the Jubilee that jumped the fence in the corner of the riverside late 70’s, he ran alone into the 5000 burnley fans in the darwen end, they backed off, must have thought he was carrying a grenade! Then he was saved by the police, fined and they had a whip round in the pub to pay his fine.

So are you buying the tickets or me?
