He was a 17yr old kid and was chased down the street by a burnley fan and clobbered over the head and killed. Regardless if he was looking for trouble or not he was KILLED and by a burnley fan despite your feeble attempts to persuade us otherwise. If i remember correctly some Blackburn fan smashed him over the head with a brick. Burnley is no more safe/dangerous for visiting fans than most other football towns. I really couldn't care less whether burnley sell all their tickets or not but i couldn't help but laugh when reading on their site the reason for not selling out is the possibility or gaining banning orders and the current banning orders in effect They should just be happy with 5000 day trippers after their poor gates so far this season.

Its interesting that 25-30yrs on you get a banning order for doing relatively nothing apart from hanging around in a group who may or may not cause trouble if the situation arose. I'm in no way glorifying this incident and the driver got jailed but what about the lad from Accy who saw a burnley fan walking down the road and decided to run him down, his crime? wearing a burnley shirt. Could have been the same escort to burnley barracks after the game walking down past the college and the pub on the corner was full of knuckle draggers goading the Blackburn escort walking past. Police moved the escort on as a minor altercation took place after someone in the pub tried to throw a bucket of 'beer' out of the top window, at least i think it was beer At the back of the escort where i was stood, the inside of the bin, which may still stand outside the very pub was despatched through the window much to the horror on the landlord who was remonstrating to the police and it was pointed out it was his own fault for allowing the bucket of p**s to be thrown from his top window. The train had a rather bad odour on the way home but the first carriage was surprisingly empty apart from a selected few CLB, I wonder if the same slapper had returned to t'turf in 88 as a local 'lady' was hoisted aloft on the longside only to be arrested for offending the away support with her tattooed breasts! A few minutes later a lad was hoisted aloft with no shirt on and balaclava to avoid detection as he aimed a piece of concrete into the rovers section. Wonder why the lad that returned it never went to the same extremes. Happy days.

Thought i'd put this on a separate thread. I must say that the story by Toronto Exciled (s**t in the plastic cup lobbed over the fence) is a peach and maybe i'm sick but i break out in fits of laughter every time i read it. The last game at burnley had a few funny moments: The half hearted pitch invasion led by a dwarf in a fake burberry cap The lad in the corner of the Bob Lord stand who was baiting the Rovers fans and riot police for most of the match finally got his comeuppance when he was hit full on in the head by a coin thrown from the Rovers section, even the police started to laugh. Not that i condone this sort of behaviour but he wasn't even watching the match but stood on the fence shouting and swearing in our general direction. A poster on this site who got on the coach rather gingerly and we thought he'd been attacked. It emerged he'd decided to take a souvenir home, a seat from the ground to commemorate the win. It was destined for his living room wall along with his match tickets.

Second biggest cheer of that day apart from Garners winner was when the the Bumley dead head decended through the roof onto his own ilk......did he really think he could fly!!!! To think they actually celebrate maiming their own fans with pieces of the darwen end roof. 5 panels were removed if memory serves me correctly and women and kids that were stood at the front of the darwen end were in the local rag having been hit by flying debris. God they showed us and went down

So have i Bought before the trip t'turf in about 1988 pre-season. Also in the aqueduct that night before we set off tee-shirts we on sale to commemorate the fly over and upon arrival in burnley the police would not allow anyone in the ground who had them on? so obviously the lads took them off then put them back on again when in the ground Great policing!

At the famous 3-2 Boxing Day Derby in 1977 there were around 12,000 Rovers fans at the game. Away section of Longside, gates locked at 2pm with 8,000 in. Beehole End another 2,000+ with others in stands. During the latter part of that season we averaged 10,000+ ie we took more than our home average. Just goes to show what we can do when we try and more importantly when the Dingles are there for the taking. That day was the best ever for atmosphere. Goose bumps down my back and i wasn't even there

You not going with the usual suspects? they've got a pub sorted in burnley and travel arrangements have been finalised. They're going to the same boozer they went in last time we played.

If you've been away this season twice and held a season ticket you'd have got one, simple as that. This is an away fixture why should home FA Cup ties count? Spot on by the club even if i didn't get one

To be honest having spoken the better half watching it in a packed pub isn't so bad i can loosen the noose I think the blues bar will be rocking on the day in question so if we've no chance of a ticket in the away end i'm sure we'll cheer them on from 12 miles down the road. Just wonder how many tickets we could have sold for this one had the dingles had a half decent ground capacity

Sorry wasn't thinking. Ticketing policy absolutely spot on and i've no problems with the way its been handled. You'll not please all the people all the time If all else fails i can get tickets in the home areas but don't know if i can be arsed sat on my hands and keeping my mouth shut. GUTTED
