Said it on the other thread and on previous occasions. Agathe is not a right back, especially not a Prem League one. He has pace and lots of it and that it probably his main asset.

any ideas on pubs in London which would have DSF tv channel? F3K do but just phoned them and they are closed for refurbishments!!

I think Roberts will surprise a few people. If you look at his career he has got better as he has got older. A lot of Prem clubs were in for him and according to press reports he was O'Leary's number one summer target for Villa but they can't seem to get any funds together at the moment.

I would go for fat Rooney. But I would take first touch Kuqi instead of both.

Apart from his goals, he is only young and there is no way he will get better... Goals alone he deserves his place in the side. He is still young and I think he puts in a good work for the team attacking and defending. -
I like the way we always try to get a lot of crosses in with our midget strikeforce.

You can't be too upset losing to Liverpool but it was such a stale game. The 'goal' did indeed change the direction of the match. Liverpool have got a lot of clean sheets this season so no shame in not scoring against them. However, the creativity in our team comes from our wide players and we are not getting enough from them at present. Not sure if MGP is tired but he has played poor for a number of games now. It must be tempting to drop/rest him but his set pieces alone merit his place in the side. I do not think Bentley does enough to deserve his place on the right wing. He does show some nice touches but he is very much struggling to get into the game. He very rarely beats the opposition full back and we see him drifiting into the centre to try and influence the game. Even then he does not really get involved. I know Emerton gets stick on here and deservedly so but I would have him in ahead of Bentley on the right. As some have mentioned, we are missing Tugay badly (especially in home games) and the news is not encouraging - he pulled a muscle in training and may miss the rest of the season (not fact). I really hope we finish 6th now for the following reasons. It will mean we will have a better chance of keeping our best players - Nelsen, MGP and Bellamy. Additionally, it will ensure Hughes stays on to continue and build on the fine work he has started. I am surprised no one has made more of the possible approach by Newcastle. The Sunday papers can talk nonsense but I think it is becoming more obvious barring Martin O Neil he is the hottest managerial prospect available and I would think an approach for his services will be inevitable.

After seeing a couple of Bolton games recently I am more worried about West Ham catching us. I know they have a semi final coming up but they are the real threat to us.
-
Would hope for a draw in the arsenal match now - looking at their fixtures this should be one of their more difficult ones. Whatever happens, we need to win our games in the first place!!
-
Ok - we needed them to win but have to say my disgust for Brum is back again after just listening to David Gold on Sky. Talking about their run in, he says what gives him hope is the run-in they have as they play none of the top teams.
-
Always easy looking back..... but anyway I was very surprised Bentley started - I think he has a lot of ability but at this moment in time it is about getting our best players on the pitch. We were at home and Tugay should have started - ok, there were some challenges flying about but he is our best play-maker and Reid is still learning his trade as a centre midfielder. We would get the best out of Bellamy and probably Sinama with Tugay pulling the strings. I actually think Reid has one of the best crosses in the league - the whip he sometimes gets on his crosses remind me of Beckham, Gerrard. Also, last night Reid seemed to have a permanent grin on during the match as if he has made it already as a top class player - well, you have not yet.
-
Go on Brum!! putting any hatred aside for tonight as more important Bolton dont pick up anything.
-
Hope I am wrong but I think we are in for one hell of a game tonight. Jewell will get his players fired up and remind them of us beating them on New Years Eve. I am just in my pessimistic pre-match mode but tonight is massive and 3 points would be too good to be true. I just feel we give other teams chances these days and a clinical striker force could see us conceding a few.
-
I think Savage is back for this game. It will be interesting to see what he does in midfield - obvious option is to drop Emerton and put Reid on the right. However, Reid has looked good from the centre of late...

They are a complete shambles at the back.

[Archived] Mark Hughes - Good Choice ?
John replied to Ste B's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Old article on Newcastle betting odds I was wondering if Newcastle did come in for Hughes in the summer would he go? He always talks about doing the best he can as a manager. If you think about it, how much higher could be take us if we finish anywhere between 4th-6th this season. -

talk was that the axe wanted a loan move in Jan but Hughes blocked it - I agree he will want to move at the end of the season if not playing -
all this pointless deabte folks Tugay is real class - if you want to win matches you play him, then again he does give the ball away in dangerous areas which leads to goals but that is his style of play. Overall, we need him because he is usually the difference between opening up defences and as I said he wins us matches. The day he leaves will be the day we lose a truly world class player.
-
why not if Sparky thinks it does not disrupt pre-season preperations. I am sure he would know a lot better than us - nothing to lose IMO anyway, lets try and concentrate on this season not falling apart.
-
Jansen did play well for Bolton - looks like he is going to get a run of games. You would think he will only get better as well. I know he wanted to leave but the timing of it was when we ran into a striker crisis and he would have surely had chance.... anyway, no point looking back.

Thought Neil was excellent yesterday.
