How long we will have to wait though to get things 'right'...... At the end of the day we are dropping points - does not matter if it is the start, middle or end of the season. -

Can't say I was very impressed with Saturday's performance. It sums up our transfer activity so far... lethargic. We seemed to have an obsession with playing long balls to our front men all afternoon. Pompey have two solid centre halves but it did concern me how easily Robers/Benni got dominated in the air and on the ground. From a creativity point of view we created nothing despite having a lot of the ball for the away side. Few points of note: Bentley in the centre just does not seem to work. I watched him having a great game for England Under 21s in that position so it might be that we persist with him. He does come deep for the ball but all too often he loses concentration. That brings me on to Tugay or should I say the way play without him. Too often we have produced sub-standard performances when he has been out of the side. Was Reid fit? He did not seem his energetic self and at times it was if we were trying to carry him. Injuries, suspensions and no Tugay could make this a bad start to the season. -
Excellent news - Emerton knows he will have to perform to get in the team after being dropped for a while last season. He is a useful player to have as we are going to be playing a lot of games over the season. Other side of it is that there will always be clubs interested in buying Emerton so it is a win-win situation for us!

Do they serve beer in the concourse at Pompey?? -
Our back up in midfield and full back positions seems particularly awful. A couple of injuries and we really have some mediocre players who will come in. If the dutch guy comes in as a full back then I would be surprised as he is not very quick.

Really can't be bothered stating the countless reasons why but we must ensure Nelsen stays. Top 6 teams don't sell their best players.
-
Pretty vague interview with regards to his future. In that I mean that Nelsen appears quite excited about the Pompey prospect. It seems that we (BRFC) have not spoken to him about his future. Presenter could not stop going on about the Portsmouth move as if it would be a dream come true. Interesting at the end, a decision will be made next week, hopefully not when we confirm the signing of our defender giving the green light for Nelsen to leave.

For those who are out and about this evening will there be texts updates from the club on the match (goal updates and full time score?)

Overall, I just dont rate Agathe. He had a good spell as a wing back under O Neil at Celtic and in flashes in a game you think he is a really good player. However, he is very inconsistent and the lack of accuracy on his crosses can be very frustrating. It seems like Hughes is after a wide player who can beat a man, has pace and who can add penetration to our play - I can see why he has taken Agathe on trial.
-
Said it on the other thread and on previous occasions. Agathe is not a right back, especially not a Prem League one. He has pace and lots of it and that it probably his main asset.

any ideas on pubs in London which would have DSF tv channel? F3K do but just phoned them and they are closed for refurbishments!!

I think Roberts will surprise a few people. If you look at his career he has got better as he has got older. A lot of Prem clubs were in for him and according to press reports he was O'Leary's number one summer target for Villa but they can't seem to get any funds together at the moment.

I would go for fat Rooney. But I would take first touch Kuqi instead of both.

Apart from his goals, he is only young and there is no way he will get better... Goals alone he deserves his place in the side. He is still young and I think he puts in a good work for the team attacking and defending. -
I like the way we always try to get a lot of crosses in with our midget strikeforce.

You can't be too upset losing to Liverpool but it was such a stale game. The 'goal' did indeed change the direction of the match. Liverpool have got a lot of clean sheets this season so no shame in not scoring against them. However, the creativity in our team comes from our wide players and we are not getting enough from them at present. Not sure if MGP is tired but he has played poor for a number of games now. It must be tempting to drop/rest him but his set pieces alone merit his place in the side. I do not think Bentley does enough to deserve his place on the right wing. He does show some nice touches but he is very much struggling to get into the game. He very rarely beats the opposition full back and we see him drifiting into the centre to try and influence the game. Even then he does not really get involved. I know Emerton gets stick on here and deservedly so but I would have him in ahead of Bentley on the right. As some have mentioned, we are missing Tugay badly (especially in home games) and the news is not encouraging - he pulled a muscle in training and may miss the rest of the season (not fact). I really hope we finish 6th now for the following reasons. It will mean we will have a better chance of keeping our best players - Nelsen, MGP and Bellamy. Additionally, it will ensure Hughes stays on to continue and build on the fine work he has started. I am surprised no one has made more of the possible approach by Newcastle. The Sunday papers can talk nonsense but I think it is becoming more obvious barring Martin O Neil he is the hottest managerial prospect available and I would think an approach for his services will be inevitable.

After seeing a couple of Bolton games recently I am more worried about West Ham catching us. I know they have a semi final coming up but they are the real threat to us.
-
Would hope for a draw in the arsenal match now - looking at their fixtures this should be one of their more difficult ones. Whatever happens, we need to win our games in the first place!!
-
Ok - we needed them to win but have to say my disgust for Brum is back again after just listening to David Gold on Sky. Talking about their run in, he says what gives him hope is the run-in they have as they play none of the top teams.
