He would be a risk but it looks like whoever we appoint will be a risk. I hope this weekend sheds some light over who the appointment may be because this is starting to do my head in!! I dont know much about the Wales situtation but Hughes seemed to have got the country going again- I see he has got good players at his disposal but he must be doing something right.
-
I not talking about playing history with Dowie- I am just pointing out his pathetic attempts over the summer to recruit players. I know he had a small budget but it looks from the outside that he has mucked it up. I am stating that I would like Mark Hughes or Strachan. Both ambitous, both passionate and both have a very good footballing brain. I state these in my preference to Dowie.
-
Hall is the best of a very bad bunch. How can the players even look at Dowie on the training ground- I just hope this is just a rumour, I really do.
-
Well Martin O Neil surely cannot make as many bad buys as Dowie did this summer. Julian Speroni, Mark Hudson, Emmerson Boyce, Fitz Hall (defender playing in central midfield) The list goes on....
-
I trust John Williams and he says the interest in the job has provided candidates with high qualities so I hope you are correct that Premiership managers have been applying for the role. Bit weird of Dowie to jump ship early on, Simon Jordan said while he was there they would fight the Premiership together. They will have to do more than fight with signings like the mighty Emerson Boyce and others which make me laugh.
-
How can they have interviews with Dowie or Hughes when no official approach has been made??? Looks like the three are out of work managers- if so expect Gordon Strachan to be our manager next week. If board are not being economical with the truth, it could be a smoke screen but I doubt it. For those Dowie lovers, look at the rejects he brought in for Palace this summer- he had a tight budget but so have a lot of other managers- he really has brought in a load of sh*t.

He is in Spain on holiday according to radio 5 live SSN say he will be in the stands! -
well put Martin. Dowie has done well where he has been but he doesnt do it for me.
-
Respect for Dowie- have you seen his face. I could imagine players taking the pi** out of him. He speaks like a pri** as well.
-
I have missed the talk all day today. Why do we think Dowie is now on the short list for sure?? People are talking like he is first choice, have I missed something?
-
dont kid yourself guys, Dowie becoming manager smacks of desperation. High quality candidates?? Well I would of thought Dowie would not be our next manager- who knows though. Henry Winter summed up last night why we should go for Mark Hughes for our next manager

Jan- come on admit it, Souness made us respectable again. Put the pride back into our club. He did it his way and I thank him. Why dont you take your Celtic glasses off once in while. Just because Celtic have been knocked back by every player they have gone for this summer no need to dig Souey. Oh and by the way, its easy to slate Emerton but I am sure most of us were over the moon about signing him before he came. Football is like that, he may still come good. At least rover6 and Jim have a bit of logic behind their points, you have pure hate for Souness the man. Pity you dont really know much about him to make a proper comment. -
I think we have a sensible board. Unless someone has applied out of the blue they have a decision to make on 2 individuals. Hughes- No club management experience, may be reminded of Kidd. Strachan- Out of work, has worked with a tight budget before. Maybe Moyes if available but I reckon its down to these two with the later likely to be appointed over the weekend. The board actually met today. I will be more interested now in paper gossip tomorrow and over the weekend.
-
I have just got a feeling that Gordon Strachan will be named manager soon.
-
With you on that rovermatt. dont like the way he is so high up on the list
-
Similar to Souness but Reid talks a lot more sh*t.
-
He is good friends with Coar isnt he?
-
Just come back from the toliet from being sick. Cant be Reid. Wont believe it....
-
Maybe I was reading too deep into it but he seemed to stutter when asked and think. His answer hardly suggests he is denying any link. If there was nothing in it he would come out and say so.

Interesting to see where Matteo figures, hopefully centre-back or not playing at all. -
Hughes very coy in his post-match interview. I reckon if an approach is made he will come.
-
Mark Hughes is the big name. I also agree with Jim that he would need a good back-room staff which I think he would get. He got Eric Harrison in to help with Wales 4 years ago afterall, Hughes reasoning was that he needed an old head around him at the start. Hughes would have good pulling power and would have a good set-up.
-
Dowie- no way, need a manager who can attract a high calibre player and I doubt he can. Good coach and did well last season but I cant see him as our next manager. You can still get good players without having £10 million in your pocket. If we are competing for a Bosman, who our manager is could matter a lot.

I was thinking of Egerton-Vernon. He is not actually on the footballing board. He controls the trust fund.
