  1. Same for me. We know what Neill is like, generally he's good but has periods when he's either poor or not concentrating. I don;t think this season has been any different to the previous three.
  2. Yep, did the same thing myself. We have enough money, always broke but happy. I was head-hunted for a job paying around 50% more plus bonuses but turned it down. In my current role I have a good work / life balance, nobody questions me and I'm effectively my own boss. While the money was tempting the additional pressure meant the grass was a lot greener at home.
  3. I shall wait and see whether or not this is a good footballing move. From the heart I've always wanted Dunny back and I'm the happiest Rover you could find since I heard the news yesterday. In those dark days in Division One (or whatever) Dunny was a shining light, a promise it could get better. I'll never forget sitting slap bang opposite him as the teams lined up for the England U 21s with Dunn as captain. He looked so proud, I was very proud for him and Blackburn Rovers. David Dunn is a Rover - simple as that.
  4. Are you a messy eater or something?
  5. Just felt my remarks were more appropriate to this thread than the arsenal one as I'm talking about attendance in general. Quite agree Yes along with many other local games when prices were reasonable I know you're getting at somehting else here but not sure what as I don't recall much of it. i preseume we wasted several hours? I was thinking the less talented teams might be more encouraged to play football - you know scoring goals at the opposite end. Of course it could also encourage mass defence having nicked an early goal.
  6. Aggy posted this in the Arsenal thread but I wanted to bring my comments in here Exactly. I'm now down to three games I actually look forward to ~ Liverpool, United and Newcastle (bizare I know). Wonderful isn't it. Three games in a season that make you excited about the idea of going to a football match. THREE! Is it any wonder the game is dead on it's feet? Unless the PL wake up to the simple facts - 15 of the PL clubs are not worth watching - they run the risk of the attendance decline excelerating beyond belief. I can appreciate Arsenal's quality but abhor the time-wasting we saw on Saturday, which I think is the worst I've noticed at Ewood, and will not give them credit as a team when they are so cynical. It's beginning to look as though something like 4 points will be needed for an away win if there's to be any chance of bringing entertainment back into football.
  7. Well this morning we had a new fan from the Ukraine known as BigPussy About 80% of registrations are system generated, random efforts to attack the MB or at least to post porn links, which is why we have to manually approve all new registrations
  8. Lee may or may not be, I'm just saying I'll ask Williams direct next time I see him, which is about three weeks off.
  9. Your the second person to ask that question today. I've checked the notes I made at the time and JW said: The average revenue per seat per match is £13 Next tiome we meet with the club I'll ask if that is based on seats SOLD per game or revenue divided by capacity
  10. You should see some of the other stuff we get trying to register
  11. He tried to rejoin the MB a few weeks back but we sussed him at the registration stage.
  12. I think much of this comes from Rovers strategy over the last ten or more years of looking to attract families and children. Our group of four was for many years one adult, three children, one full price ST and three at anything between £00 and £70 depending on age. Today it's one adult, two young adults, one junior. In total my kids have 41 seasons between them but have yet to pay full price. I've posted in the past this policy has positive and negative sides, the effect on income is clear. Where we really lose out is the young people do become Rovers fans but often stop attending when they leave the area for uni. I feel not enough attention is given to this when considering the current attendance decline. I know several in this situation, one lad I took to every game for 12 seasons, went to uni and then stopped. It's a problem.
  13. JW stated to BRISA the average revenue per seat over a season was £13. As it happens spread over our four STs we pay £12.78. One very bored evening I did a quick calculation based on filling the whole ground with ST holders. For the sake of arguement I took the following as a typical group of four: Adult Junior Senior Young Adult Checked the prices across each stand and assumed the ground was filled with 7500 groups of this type. The income worked out as below: BBE / Darwen End income per stand £1,890,000 JW income £2,283,750 Riverside income £1,162,500 Total income £7,226,250 Per seat / per game £11.88 Now I'm not sure this is 100% accurate but it won't be far off. I don't need anyone to point out that I should get out more.
  14. I'm not sure why one would describe Lee's post as garbage Rev? I've heard JW make the same statement a number of times. I struggle to see how it makes much difference but I think there is an element of truth there. The average revenue per seat is £13 per match, per season. A quick calculation on ST prices proves this and JW has stated it a couple of times. I'd guess the extra 5000 might be walk-ons paying an average of, say, £20 which would give the club an extra £2m. Using your figure or mine this is a reasonable sum to have available for wages. I think this is the area Lee is alluding to. £1.25 - £2m would probably get us 2-4 young squad players, perhaps like Bentley. Giving them a chance to prove themselves before being offered a new deal, as Bentley is reported to be, after proving their worth? I can't recall the wage bill reported in the last club accounts but guess it's £28-£30m. The bulk of this is presumably player wages. Given we have a squad of 30 I'd suggest a number of players are probably earning around £500k, a lot less than many might imagine? So getting perhaps 3 players for £2m, in wages, is not out of the question.
  15. It's simple Fife the government is responsible for everything wrong with Blackburn, including taxation. There is a direct correlation between rising taxes and falling PL attendances. Personally I'm convinced and will vote for the party introducing ethnic cleansing, criminal deportation, lower taxation, speed camera abolition, and mass sterilisation for those who cannot trace their ancestry to King Harold. The consequent demand for tickets at Ewood will force John Williams to triple ST prices, quadruple matchday admission and build a new stadium for the reserves, who will be re-named Lancashire United, playing in front of sellout crowds. The introduction of Lancashire border passport controls ensures those attempting to travel to Manchester/Liverpool on home matchdays will be offered the choice of purchasing an ST or 12 months imprisonment, repeat offences will result in flogging or, in the case of serial offenders, hanging. The ground will be full, everyone is smiling, end of attendance thread.
  16. There was a larger than usual number of ethnic minorities in the FS...............and yes they did have blue and white on
  17. That was it! Some good suggestions there. Thanks, should solve my problem.
  18. I finally got to see Borat last weekend. TBH I was disappointed and I don't really see what all the fuss was about. Yes there were some wonderfully funny moments, I have friends who would be quite disgusted and po faced that I laughed loudly at some of the cringingly funny jokes, but hey that's life. It's in no worse taste than some of the "Ipswich" jokes doing the rounds. Overall the film is not especially funny, I had expected almost a laugh a minute, but does do an excellent job of pointing a finger at many aspects of our society, and not just America. I belong to a film club, we meet monthly, and I won't be making Borat my choice to show people in February as two of the members would be quite appalled. In fact one lady would probably walk out!!!!! I don't mind stimulating conversatioon but I won't insult a close friend. The group meets monthly, each person hosting the evening in turn, we watch the movie have a drink and discuss the film, bit like a book club. The last two films have been The Constant Gardner and a 90 minute Japanese cartoon I've forgotten the name of. Any suggestions out there for something which will be both enjoyable and stimulating ~ we don't need James Bond or the latest shoot 'em up from Hollywood

  22. Reading last nights Manchester Evening News one major bookie was offering odds on which club would have the highest number of empty seats this Saturday. Various odds with 100/1 bar............I was half-way to the bookies when I remembered we're at Arsenal When the bookies know they can make money out of non-attendance the situation is very grim.
  23. If there are overseas fans, or long distance UK fans, who are struggling to get replica kit, or other bits an pieces, we can help through this site. Send me a PM. Can't do it in time for Christmas though
  24. As an observation I was in the Reebok ASDA yesterday. I was impressed to see ASDA stock a good range of Bolton Wanderers shirts etc. I don't mean replicas, polos, T-shirts etc.
