You seriously expect Rovers to come up with an end of season ticketing strategy between 5.00pm Saturday and 9.00am Monday? Do you really think the commercial people are not busy on the phones trying to sell pacakges to local business? What of all those who have already purchased tickets for Villa? What of the implications for the away ticket prices for Villa and Boro? If you care so much about the frigging football club you'll buy the tickets and give them to this person. It might inconvenience you a bit but if you're as concerned as you previously state that should be a minor consideration. Afterall you only have to log on to the website and order them and guess what there's no booking fee for online sales. Why? Because the club are trying to encourage online ticketing!!!!!!!!!!!! When do you ever have anything positive to say about any subject? We're 5th and all people can do is moan. There must be a fair few people working at Ewood who wonder if there is any point in making an effort.

Match bundling Pairing high demand and low demand games Sliding scale STs I could give you the club's position on each of those right now as BRISA has asked the questions. The only reason I'm not prepared to post the answers here is because BRISA are very keen to put all the detail we have gained out to its members in a Newsletter. This should happen over the weekend - no pressure there for the Newsletter Editor!! We want to tell the members first because we feel that is the right approach. Consider one thing though. 12-13000 people signed up for STs in July. I can't be bothered to look back over the whole season but consider the remaining games. Both Liverpool and Wigan have been re-scheduled. The reverse of the arguements being put forward here is ST holders who cannot attend these re-arranged fixtures should be given a refund. I'm not an apologist for the club but I've asked the questions, received the answers and feel what BRISA has been told is reasonable. I've also sat across the table from JW and TF and told them I feel Rovers don't sell tickets but fans buy them. So we aren't pulling our punches. The club needs to balance promotion, affordability and value. Afforability is pretty good, the value of an ST has been disastrously eroded over recent years, by Sky not Rovers, and suggesting selling an ST for 6 games would only contribute to that erosion. The club management have to consider both the long and short-term implications of ticketing policy - you don't do that on a Sunday morning based on a 1-0 victory over Arsenal.

Plenty of good ideas kicking about on here, all of which BRISA has already discussed with the club. We are expecting to publish the detail next Monday. As for the club not being able to suddenly magic ticket packages out of the air? Well consider this, if we'd been tonked 4-0 by Arsenal we would be 9th - cash still burning a hole in your pocket at that point theno? I very, very much doubt it. What you were actually asking for was a match ticket bundle, if the club introduces these you can kiss goodbye to ST sales over night. But that wouldn't matter beacuse I'm sure Lancashire United would offer such packages.

Would everyone please remember there is a rule about insults on this site, especially so when it's a felllow Rover and one who isn't here to defend himself. cheers

The other major difficulty with promotions for the big games is the away support. I fully appreciate the point regarding enticing a new fan to ewood to watch Utd being easier than Sunderland. I'm sure PL rules require equal pricing for home and away support, now if we can sell 8000 tickets to Utd at £30 what is the point in having to offer some of those at say £1?

If that's all it takes I'll take it for £5 and donate it to the club. -
The problem with that arguement is it doesn't attract crowds. I would be very surprised if the savings on departing players where not ploughed straight back into the squad.
-
There's a lot happening which is not fully appreciated. BRISA will be publishing information on this after next weekend, but I'll just chuck a few points out for consideration, for example: * the average revenue per seat, per game at Ewood is £13 - get that £13 * there is little or no room for further discounting * everything the club does must consider the impact on season ticket value Not trying to pick on your post Rev, it was just the best one to use. Moving on from this there is the major issue of substitution; promotions must be targetted at additional fans and not simply as a method of selling cheap tickets to those who would attend anyway. The club have to strike a delicate balance between enticing new support and keeping the existing ST base happy.

It's a good day when the only arguement concerning Rovers is how to pronounce his name! I'm in the PAYTER camp. -

Certainly wouldn't underestimate his contribution, he came from nowhere as at least 3 and perhaps 4 Arsenal defenders stood around waiting to see what would happen. Saying that I think over a match MGP has a tendency to disappear for periods, Peter didn't do that yesterday, how he will perform in the future remains to be seen. -

I think Peter's performances in the PL will improve significantly as he gains experience. He showed with QPR what he is capable of against lower league sides. He's only just made the squad and I'm happy to give him more time to get the experience he needs, only exceptional players can make the step up immeadiately. I'm not sure MGP would have contributed anything extra to the game. Ask yourself what would have happened to every ball Pongo received if Kugi had been playing in his place? The majority would have pinged off Kugi whereas Pongo is able to control and use the ball. There may or may not be more to come from him but in terms of helping to relieve pressure by keeping the ball he's streets ahead of Kugi. I wonder what Sergio thought of the BBE's rendition of 633 squadron? -

The guy behind me thought the same thing but in fact from the corner, a Rover - Pongolle? - had jumped behind an Arsenal defender and pushed him. Rennie gave a clear free kick for that which Lehmann wanted to take quickly. Reid got in his way and Lehmann pushed flat on his face, other refs might have sent the keeper off. Had an Arsenal fan sat next to me today, had a Utd fan for that game, I'm going to call the TO and ask them for Liverpool and Chelsea next. I thought the whole team was absolutely fantastic today, the sort of game when you worry for the last 30 minutes but just know Arsenal could play all night and we would hold firm. There's not much to say, just very, very proud of our team and manager. What a fantastic job Hughes is doing. Thought Bellamy had his best game to date for us and contrary to others Tugay was superb, only saw one misplaced pass from him today. The next six games are crucial: Tottenham (A) - 1 Villa (H) - 3 Boro (H) - 3 Sunderland (A) - 3 Wigan (H) - 3 Portsmouth (A) - 1 14 points from the next 18 is possible if the team are as serious about 4th spot as they showed today. Wonderful result, cracking game of football; get yourself down to Ewood! -
Probably but the really bad news for GAV is the game is now on Monday night Sky. I doubt if it will be more than 23000, when the Saturday game would have been nearer 26 or 27000.

This season's home Premier League fixture between Blackburn Rovers and Liverpool falls on the anniversary of the Hillsborough tragedy. Liverpool have thanked Rovers for agreeing to move the kick off to 5.15pm on Saturday 15th April

True, there is nothing wrong with the Riverside. For me I've got used to the facilites in the FS and would prefer to still have those facilities available. I don't think they are available in the Riverside. One of my kids has graduated to the BBE, another will in a couple of seasons. They almost see it as a rite of passage. Which maybe suggests there is still a desire for a terrace culture, there is certainly a desire for a "better atmosphere" which is how the kids perceive the BBE.
-
There is a connection but I don't believe it's the obvious one - which I think most people would define as all-seater stadia. We live in a dramatically changing culture, people's expectations have changed, to an extent there is an attitude of "OK I've paid my money, now entertain me." I don't pretend to know the answer, though I do think a lot about it, but I'm sure it is more than shooting the drummer. I feel the atmosphere question is very complex and IF the club can solve it this will be a major step forward. All-seater stadia or not I believe the terrace culture would have disappered over time, the Taylor Report merely hastened its demise.
-
Understand what you are trying to say, but you're wrong in the assumption. Plus where are you going to put the FS? Riverside - no thanks. Darwen End - nope that doesn't work either. Jack Walker - over my dead body, and the others - the utter lack of atmosphere in the JW would kill the kids enthusiasm. Unfortunately, in some eyes, this is a culture which is dead or dieing. Why? The Taylor Report, all seater stadia, the clubs actively promoting to familes, etc. The challenge for Rovers, and other clubs, is how to create a matchday atmosphere. It used not to be a problem but it is now. Banning the drummer and instantly reviving the days of old is wishful thinking, IMV, trying to recreate the atmosphere of old is looking at the past and we should be looking at the future.

Cheers. so if you buy a TST7 and don't make it past the group stage, what happens to your ticket? Do you lose what you paid for or are you paying more with every stage?

Beaney, I know it's just your second post but please don't use txt spk and try to limit the smilies. cheers Paul -
It's the same with virtually all organisations were you book by phone. I think there are charges made by the credit card company for authorisation, card not present, if your card is absent the CC company have to be called, issue an authorisation code etc. plus there is the cost of envelopes, postage, staff to prepare envelopes, organise post etc. Go to the ground and you just sign, I suspect the arguement should be with Mastercard or Visa. It was £1 per ticket until 2-3 years ago, now it's £1 per ticket to a maximum of £2.
-
Agreed we played very well against those sides and as far as I can recall lost on nearly every occassion. I went to Celtic and left the ground very, very proud of the team but we lost.....twice. Of those you mention I think we beat Arsenal once in the league, 2-1 at Highbury? Anybody? and 4-1 in the Worthy Cup, but that was their reserves. This season we've beaten Utd twice, drawn one, lost one. Which would you rather have? The major reason for dropping crowds, and you can dress it up anyway you want with every other reason under the sun, is two seasons of "disappointing" results under Souness. Whatever else GS did for us in the last two seasons we won five games each at home and that had a massive impact on the club and attendances. Hughesy is doing great things but it will take a lot, lot more to win back those who have stopped coming. Beating Utd was two steps forward, losing at Everton and WBA was two steps back.

If you read what I posted and you quoted above it would make sense. The club have a policy for Liverpool and Manchester United home games tickets will only be sold to supporters who have a history of buying from Blackburn Rovers. In other words for the Liverpool game you will need to have purchased at least once before to get a ticket regardless of if we sell out or not. I asked JW about this directly earlier in the week. For Liverpool and Manchester games supporters need a history, for all other games they do not.
