No. On the promoional thing: My son, who is in Australia, got an ST pack sent through as he has been an ST holder, until last season, for 14 years. This did stimulate me to work out that it would be cheaper to buy him a Young Adult ST even though he'll only be back for half the season. So that's one extra. I know I got slaughtered for this view in another thread but there were nearly 26000 at Ewood on Saturday. The only people around me who knew the first thing about footie were BBE ST holders. The rest knew very little about the game but they all had a REALLY GOOD TIME. I seem to remember the first time I went to a professional game I didn't have a clue either - still don't in some eyes!! It may be that to fill Ewood the club has to look at attracting these fans. It may mean a change of culture, the crowd may sound like a kindergarten at times but I know one thing....our crowd is growing older and there are not enough younger fans coming through. Eventually we'll all be so old games will be played on pension day. The market is there but the club may well be focusing on the wrong people. With hindsight there should have been 26000 discounted ST packs handed out on Saturday. How about on June 19th? Put an ST pack on every seat with a £50 off voucher for those at the Women's Euro Final. To answer Glenn's question. I'd find it easier to fund the STs in March so it would be better for me. June/July is a very difficult time as we have car and house insurance, holiday and other stuff to pay. As regards the releagtion thing it would make no difference at all. The only issue that influences buying a ticket is the disillusion I feel about the game in general. -
Is this the way to Amarillo? bopped the Blackburn End tonight at half time. It isn't the way to Amarillo but it might be the way to fill Ewood Park. Not a whiff of testosterone, no stench of beer and fags in the concourse, 3 blokes in the male toilet and an huge queue for the ladies. Met a couple of young women going into the gents as they were fed up with queing for the ladies. Thousands and thousands of women and children in Ewood having a great time and not the slightest hint of tension....and the noise!!!!!!!!!!! 90 minutes of nonstop cheering put our efforst on the BBE to shame. 30 or so Swedes stood behind us cheering their team on; to be met with no more than "Sit down, shut up!" Now if that had been a PL game? I learnt tonight why we can't fill the ground, why you see very few women and children at PL games (proportionately) and so few ethnic people. It's simple, we, the fans, are too agressive. 26954 this game, a crowd Rovers would kill for. If we want more people in Ewood it's in our own hands....change the atmosphere, remove the tension and the maleness, make it a party. It isn't life or death, the fans just think it is. We watched some pure sport tonight, a good game, enthusiasm, sporting behaviour, committment. It was brilliant entertainment.

Go to the garage or B&Q and get a pot of paint and a brush. Paint your wall and watch it, then when its dry come back and we'll see who's had the better time!!! 322917[/snapback] We did!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Down at Ewood this morning and quite a few people buying 5-6 tickets at a time. Looks as though this will be a very good gate - 20,000 at least. I wanted JW upper and could only get the back row so we settled for the JW side of the BBE were we could only get seats 5 and 6. Only singles available in the CIS and when I asked if the FS was open the girl replied "not yet". It's a lovely day, get to Ewood and support the ladies.

Reading that last post of philip's I'm struck by just one thought - it's silly, just plain good old fashioned silly! Not philip's post but Liverpool's schedule. If ever there was an arguement for the way the game is being destroyed by clubs chasing more and more money, TV schedules etc, that is it. 15 games in 47 days through July/August, they really must be having a laugh. What's wrong with the PL and straight-forward knockout European competition. No wonder people are bored with football.

That's an evil little post philip I especially like the Celtic/Everton and Man U/rangers idea

I'd suggest four points for an away win will do nothing more than increase the gap between the top three and the rest so this is no solution at all. It's good to see the PL is at least discussing several of the issues that concern fans. For me the root of the problem lays in several areas: Over exposure on TV Over exposure in the writtem media Very average, over-paid players Totally uncompetive league with around 14 teams just looking to survive Inconvenient KO times Footie is no longer special, when I was lad the only information was the sports pages, Charles Buchan's football monthly (fantastic mag) and MOTM. We are now deluged with trite, inconsequential and crap media which is designed to sell product. Personally I no longer even bother to read the general PL match reports. The game is massively over-exposed resulting a declining audience because the product is freely available to all. It happens in every industry, make a product to easy to access and it loses it's appeal. -

Can't afford the JW upper preston, not at £540 x 3 - will have to wait till I'm a senior citizen not long to go. One of the kids has moved to a Young Aduilt for next season and we fancy a move out of the FS so I've been doing the sums around the ground. The STs are incredible value, WHEREVER you chose to sit, for a family. We will be one adult, one young adult, one junior - (assumming the big ugly one carries on travelling the world and can't get to games ) first figure is the total for 3 STs, the second the average per seat, per game: FS - £650 - £11.40 BBE - £705 - £12.37 JW Wing - £500 - £8.77 JW Outer - £645 - £11.49 JW Lower (WO6) - £720 - £12.63 JW Lower centre - £790 - £13.86 RS - Darwen End - £500 - £8.77 RS - BBE - £655 - £11.49 RS - centre - £705 - £12.37 I think one has to look at the average per seat, per game over the season. If we renew in the FS our average cost is £11.40 per seat per game - a total of £34.20 per match. To buy the same seats on a per match basis would cost £79, £72 or £55 depending on the match category. The one criticism I do have on the STs is the overly complicated pricing depending on the area. It took me a good 45 minutes to work out where each area was and the costs etc. So to go back to the original queston in this thread - what can be done about ST sales? On the figures above, any fan taking children between the ages of 0 - 21 should be buying STs. While the total takes some finding, the value is tremendous over the season. What else can the club do? Nothing - PL football for £8.77 per seat, per game. Might as well be free. It's down to the players, always has been and in this day and age will increasingly be so. The team performs people will turn up, another crap season and things will just get worse. -

Very important. This is a bit off topic but it will help my decision. Seriously thinking about moving out of the Family stand into the JW or BBE. I fancy the JW for the better view, the lads want the BBE for the better atmosphere. Now I was going for the BBE until the Tony Parkes game, when an incident occured which put me off. We had the pleasure of sitting in row 2 behind a young man called SHOTTI (that was on his shirt) and half a dozen of his mates. When Shearer scored Shotti rushed to the barrier, swung himself over the top and held on to barrier, so he was literally, hanging upside down on the pitch side. A young steward tried to help him up and ensure he got back on the seating side. Shotti then grabbed the steward by the throat and made three attempts to punch him. An older steward seperated the pair. We then had to listen to Shotti and his mates abuse the stewards for the rest of the match, which they didn't watch at all. Spoilt my evening to be honest, and I don't understand why Shotti wasn't ejected at the least. I get very wound up at Rovers, especially if things go badly, and had this been a PL game and I was in a bad mood, I might well have pointed out to Shotti what a complete pillock he is. No doubt this would have caused a problem. I haven't watched regularly from the BBE for more than 20 years. I'm not prepared to put up with this behaviour - am I going to find similar things are a frequent event? I know it's a minority and 99% of the fans are superb but if I happen to buy the seats behind a "Shotti" I'd probably end up in trouble. I've purposefully delayed posting this to avoid it being a reaction to my feelings at the time.....and hopefully Shotti will learn how unacceptable his behaviour is to other Rovers fans. We wonder why attendances are dropping? -

There are still a few reasons to buy an ST but I admit they are pretty thin these days: Convenience - I couldn't do with having to ring up every week Keeping your seat Slightly cheaper and saves on charges for phone purchase Cup tickets That's it, not much of a list really. Sums up the problem for me. Without STs I suspect we'd end up skipping matches. Instead of arranging our time around football, we would arrange to go when it was convenient to do so. Which is one fundamental problem, the PL and Sky have srewed up big style on the whole issue of kick-off times etc. Said it before, I'll say it again - Sky has killed the game. The clubs took the devil's gold and are now reaping the reward. I used to look forward to the arrival of my ST pack. Not anymore, it's just another bill. -
Another thought occurs to me regarding Glazer. From the little we know of this man, and the image that comes through from the media, I feel his ultimate purchase of Utd may be little more than vanity. Having been rebuffed by Utd at every stage, pilloried in the press, I feel he simply became determined to have his own way. To put it simply, you're going to try and stop me? Just watch, if I want something I get it.
-
philip, A couple of questions for you. It is widely reported Glazer has borrowed £812m to fund his Utd purchase. Roughly speaking £270m to purchase his initial shares (do we know if this money was borrowed?), £265m to buy out the Irish and £275m in Preference Shares. The first two sources of funds are obviously interest bearing but why do Preference Shares count as debt? Does the company have to pay interest on Preference Shares - surely these simply earn dividend? While I agree Glazer will damage Utd enormously, I don't understand why you think the PL could expel Utd. What would be the point? Utd cannot make their own TV deal without 14 turkeys voting for Christmas. If Utd were expelled the commercial value of the collective TV deal would reduce - Sky are paying for Arsenal, Chelsea, Utd plus the rest. A deal which excluded Utd is hardly going to sell on the back of Wigan v PNE (potentially).

On the members numbering thing I think I can solve that. I'm talking purely from memory here. There are several members, self included, whose joining date is incorrect. This goes back to an upgrade in 2001 when I think we had to set everybodys joining date to the date when the MB was upgraded.
-
The warn thingy has always been there, you would previously have found it in My Controls. Yours will be visible to you and no one else, it's the same for everyone, The % will be zero for all members as no one is on a warning, currently!! Eddie quoting: I haven't had much time to play but had similar problems with quoting. At the bottom of each post is a button marked - "Reply - this quotes in the same way as the previous version. It replaces the Quote button on the previous MB. I haven't got the hang of the multi-quote thing yet. At the bottom of the page are the Fast Reply and Add Reply buttons which work in the usual way

Tris and Revidge both make good, clear points which I agree with and I suspect you are actually singing from the same hymn sheet. Summer signings? There is not a player Rovers can afford that is going to have any impact on ST sales, unless we ship out a considerable number to fund his salary and then the club still have to fund the transfer fee. If we are talking Craig "Thug" Bellamy or similar out of favour players, thanks but this does nothing for me, O'leary is welcome to him. In recent months I have been impressed by the attitude displayed by Nelsen, Mokoena and Todd - 12-18 months ago I couldn't imagine being pleased to have won Todd's shirt in the MOTM poll. The first two seem to appreciate their good fortune, the third has taken his opportunity and matured by taking the responsibility associated with being a pro footballer. Contrast this with a player like Emerton, who clearly is interested in nothing but his wage slip, and you have part of the answer. Fill the team with Nelsens and ship out the Emertons - and I'm talking purely attitude here, one type appreciates his position, the other has no place at Ewood. -

The truth hurts and is often harsh, What you say is true of the current squad SINCE Hughes took over. Prior to that these players gave us nothing. The Fulham game was a prime example that the team is still capable of the "couldn't care less" attitude. Betaing Fulham was vital for the feel-good factor. What did we get? Another abject defeat from a team that did not compete plus a player sent off after running 30 yards to deliberatley foul an opponent. We are being asked to support this rabble, it is unprofessional - they are asked to work for two hours a week for £1m plus a year, I expect total and utter dedication for the 90 minutes I'm watching, nothing less is acceptable. After the Fulham game I said I wouldn't renew my STs. I still do not WANT to renew, I WILL renew but I have no interest, excitment or desire to do so at the moment. I have two reasons for renewing - the kids want to go and without an ST I doubt I'd bother at all. I know literally tens of ex ST holders who feel exactly the same. I have a Man Utd friend, an ST holder at OT, who is so disgusted by Rio Ferdinand's wage demand he is not going back next year. The league is riddled with over-paid, under-achieving, average footballers who do not deserve the money they are paid. At Blackburn we have a lot of fans who are no longer prepared to put up with it. The answer is simple: force the players to perform, week in, week out. Make them realise they are responsible for the club's position. Hit them in the pocket when they don't perform. It's a team game, I'm not criticisng any individual, they must take collective resposibility. I don't mind losing, I don't mind the fact we are unlikley to win anything, I'll put up with inconvenient KO times, I'll ignore the over-blown hype that is the PL, I'll ignore all the rubbish that is associated with our game provide the players attitude is right. Currently it stinks. Until the players perform at Ewood Park the club can do nothing to increase support. -

I'm not sure why people say there is no financial incentive use the Family Stand - it's saved me literally hundreds of £££s over the years. Am I missing something? Anyway we are going in the BBE next year. As for ST sales and crowds. There is only one answer and the following all know what it is: John Williams and all the admin team at EP Everyone on here Everyone who attends Ewood Everyone who does NOT attend matches Mark Hughes and the coaching staff The 11 people who don't know the answer are the lazy gits wearing blue and white every Saturday. The players and ONLY the players are responsible for our shrinking support. The playing staff are a bunch of over-paid, idle, couldn't care less, living in the comfort zone pimps. Put them all on a basic £250,000 a year with a £750,000 bonus each if the average gate reaches, for example 24,000. Simple. If they aren't prepared to work they can bugger off to Norwich, Southampton or Palace. No one is at fault except the players. They have let the club and the support down on countless occassions. If I was a casual fan I'd go to PNE or Wigan. -
Couple of games a season!!!! My kids have had season tickets since the afternoon before the night we went out, came home and got a bit carried away with things. Straight down to Ewood after the first ante-natal clinic to book the new ST^. Don't talk to me about couple a games a season. I've done my time in Nuttal Street you know. *&&*%&$&*^(*^*Y part-timers
-
Yeah well if you don't put in the effort you don't get a ticket. I was there all night from around 6.00pm and my wife brought the lad down, 8 years old, to join me in the queue at 7.00am as it was one person, one ticket. If you want tickets you just have to try harder PS - it's all true. I was there all night and Maria really did bring James down at 7.00am in case I couldn't buy two.

The Rovers are safe, our third game in seven days, including a semi, the sun was shining so we set off to Ewood fully expecting the sort of crazy game Rovers v Citeh usually serves up.....................jeeez it was very poor. Nothing of note happened in the entire game. This is the revitalised City under Psycho? we are no better, no worse. Neither side had a particuarly talented player on the day and the whole game just drifted away. City created nothing, Rovers made 3 or 4 reasonable chances. Still who's complaining? I'm not.....3 or 4 months ago we'd have celebrated taking a point and a clean sheet. The general disappointment I sense about this result shows how far we have come since January.

Andy Todd is clearly quite a large........judging by his shirt..............or I'm unusually small Good job it didn't go to GAV -
"The majority of tickets are priced at £65" So let's be generous and suggest that could be 20,000 tickets. I can't help but wonder if we had beaten Arsenal would the good folk of Blackburn have been able to find £65 a ticket plus travel? Somehow I doubt it. We can assume the majority of the tickets in the stadium will be £65, say 60,000 at that price is £3.9m revenue for the FA plus a further 12000 tickets at anything from £25 to £90 - say £50 = £600k. So the ticket sales alone raise £4.5m in revenue. No doubt grass roots footie can look forward to a real bonanza this summer?

£50 for it ? On the same theme Paul, might be a nice item to auction off the next time the site needs a bit of cash. Wouldn't blame you for wanting to keep hold of it though!!! Bugger me I've never, ever won anything wothrwhile before in my entire life and you lot have it sold already. On top of that I've never before had a replica shirt - well I don't count the yellow third strip from 10 years back someone gave me on my 40th - so NO I'm not selling it Sorry Brownie but I want to keep this one
