[Archived] Cardiff Replay Ticket Prices - ?24 !
Paul replied to laughatthedingles's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
That would suggest it's OK to extract as much money as possible from the hard-core when surely those fans, amongst which I count myself, are the ones Rovers should look after. Until the new announcement on prices the issue for me was money. Five tickets = £91. It's a lot of money to find in January. If it was Man Utd I would not question the price, it's about value for money and pricing a game according to its perceived value - this is how products are sold. If the price is set above the perceived value customers will react. -
The winners of the third round replay between Blackburn Rovers and Cardiff City have been drawn at home to Colchester United in the 4th Round. If Rovers are successful in overcoming Cardiff in the replay this will mean an early return for Neil Danns who is currently starring in the Colchester side. The tie will be played on 29th or 30th January Read the fans reaction here

[Archived] Cardiff Replay Ticket Prices - ?24 !

I imagine it's because away support must pay the same as home support in an equivalent area. We can't put Cardiff fans anywhere other than the Darwen End so I guess this is why there is only a £5 discount in the BBE. Personally I quite fancy a seat in the JW for a change....and it will probably be like the grave in the BBE upper anyway. -

I have the sneaking feeling someone has moved very fast this morning to sort that out. Looks like the JW for us next week. -

I feel we are all aware of those facts and I would argue very strongly no one is turning against the club. However that doesn't mean that we are happy with the ticket prices. It is important fans voice their feelings on this issue, both for Rovers and football in general. I think we will go to the game but I am deeply unhappy about the price for my seat. I have to buy five for the family, this makes a difference. -

If that is true then surely you should be prepared to pay the same for the games? People wonder why the magic is gone out of the Fa Cup. It isn't solely the fault of Rupert Murdoch or Manchester Utd, the fans value an FA Cup game, unless it's the final, less than a league game. I thought we turned up to watch Rovers not the opposition? Of course 24 pounds for any football game is ridiculous but that's another matter. It is true I was shocked, however that doesn't relate to ticket prices Rich. Against Bournemouth we were asked to pay, I think, £10 and £5 respectively for adult and junior. The opposition is comparable and the competition, in terms of Rovers chance of success, pretty much equal. So my point is why should it be almost three times the price to take the same number of fans? I'm completely taken a back by the pricing for this match. We will probably end up going but remain unhappy at the price. Football is pricing itself out of the market and this is the first time I have found myself seriously disappointed by the clubs pricing for a home match. -
A Cardiff City fan, Pugger, has posted an excellent review of yesterday's game from the Bluebird perspective. Here our his views on Cardiff City v Blackburn Rovers: "Well first thing it was nice to meet a lot of you the Lansdowne before the match, I hope we made you feel welcome and changed a few minds regarding the way many of us are portrayed. Most Blackburn supporters were confident of a win and to be honest I couldn't see a an upset even though we'd improved over the Xmas period. The game started quite predictably with us forcing the game with some neat moves and half decent crossed but Friedel had nothing to save, then on the first Blackburn attack the ball was punted down the middle by freidel the ball was won in the middle I think and dropped to Dickov who played a fantastic ball through for Pederson who finished in style. After that Blackburn were in total control of the game for about 10 minutes when you could off wrapped it up. Dickov had a great chance but unlike Pederson neat and well though finish he just blasted it from 8 yrds Straight at Warner our keeper. When we finally figured out that playing the offside trap 2 yrds out side your own box didn't work we slowly started to get back into the game. We had a great spell of pressure for about 25 minutes in which time you picked up 3 booking, 2 were sure fire jobs but mateos was a comedy job. I must say we our Winger Job did go past your full back i was surprised on how blatant player were prepared to hack them down. I think it shows the bite Hughes has placed on the team and should stand you in good stead for the rest of the season. Any in this period we has a good chance when Jerome really should have done better with a header from 6 yrds but it was a sign of what was to come, from a throw in the ball was laid back to Graham Kavagnagh (probably our man of the match) who hit a first time cross to Alan Lee who's header hit the cross bar at the angle and bounce off Friedels hand into the net. You couldn't really blame Friedel for it he had to go for it and was slighly unfortunate. We probably deserved the goal on the amount of pressure we had managed to excert. Just after the Goal we were given a free kick just outside the box (another yellow card) and Kav again put in a quality cross which Gabs should have really scored, but the ball did go through a load of bodies. The 2nd half the game died a bit, we still created a few half chances but nothing you could call clear cut. Blackburn finished the stronger and Dickov saw a shot well saved by Warner. You also hit the bar direct from a corner but to honest it was never going to go in. The only debating point in the game was the disallowed Dickov goal which came when Warner drop a cross under a challenge. To be honest from where I was sitting I thought we got lucky, I was sure that in div 1 or 2 game the goal would have been allowed. However watching the extensive highlights on BBC wales last night (30 minutes) it was a foul on the keeper. Overall I think I can see the MH influence on your team. He has made you difficult to beat and thats half the battle and I think you can just see the first signs that he's moving on from that because for small periods in the game the speed and acuracy of your attacks was way above stuff we've seen in this Div you just need to play like that for longer periods. Anyway I'm sure you will win the replay and to be honest I wouldn't minded if Dickov's goal hadn't been ruled out because our priority hast to be to get away from the bottom of this div and a relay was probably the worst result . Hope the fans that travel down enjoyed the match and maybe will form a different opinion of most of us genuine city supporters. " Many thanks Pugger, good to have a balanced view from the opposition. Sorry yes we do turn up against Bournemouth - 7226 in fact. I paid out approximatley £35 for that game. For Cardiff the same number of tickets (5) is going to cost me £91. If we are comparing the matches then we have to compare the prices. I can't see the justification, in terms of potential cup success the Bournemouth game was every bit as important as the Cardiff match will be. -

Very good point Alan. Every PL game is available at no more than £20 so £24 to watch Cardiff City is plainly ridiculous. I really find myself in two minds about attending this match. I have never missed a game at Ewood that I could attend. I feel the club have got the pricing completely wrong and do object to this. It is also the worst possible month of the year to find the extra cash for a game. The kids are already asking if we are going and I've just realised we only have one junior now, so it's going to be £67 minimum plus another £24 if Mrs Paul wants to come. I've never imagined staying away from Ewood in protest, it's like cutting off your nose to spite your face. I object strongly to the prices and feel guilty for considering not going as both a protest and on financial grounds. What was the price of seat yesterday? I note Cardiff charge £21-27 for a Cat A game - which includes Leeds Utd and Plymouth Argyle!! -
Anyone else noticed that the ladies team in Bend it Like Beckham is Yeading Football Club? Really looking forward to Sunday lunchtime - go Yeading go! Great film as well

Anyone else fed up with the BBC. Sheff Utd v Villa was a live game, they showed highlights of the match before the Plymouth-Everton game and then showed more highlights during MOTD. I stayed up till 12.40am (fell asleep on the sofa) to see the Rovers highlights - missed them. My lad just called "Dad, Rovers are on" - in the time it tokk to walk to the next room (12 feet away) our highlights are over and done with - saw Brad picking the ball out of the net. Yet Sheff Utd -Villa gets live coverage and TWO sets of highlights. Disgraceful coverage. -

Must admit I was looking forward to this and fully expected the tickets to be £10 for adults and £5 for juniors. For those who haven't seen the the Official Site here are the details: Adult non ST holder: £24 Adult ST holder: £19 (purchase before 5.00pm Tuesday 18th) Senior Citizens: £14 Juniors: £5 ST holders have until Tuesday 13th to claim their own seat. I shall be looking at between £53 and £77 depending on who wants to go. This is the first time I have seriously questioned attending a game at Ewood Park. I imagine Cardiff City had an input and have not agreed to a price reduction in the belief there is a pay day to be had. I do NOT believe Rovers would have agreed these prices unless Cardiff had insisted on full price tickets. There were on 14,000 at yesterday's game which is about 3,000 above Cardiff's average. If we get above 10k for the replay I'll be surprised. BIG MISTAKE on ticket prices. Another example of the game getting the prices badly wrong. -

OK - we'll do tea for you -
Ahead of tomorrow's third round tie at Ninian Park, Blackburn Rovers manager, Mark Hughes, has declared his enthusiasm for and desire to do well in the world's premier cup competition. Speaking on the club's official website Hughes said, "The Cup is a great competition. I was successful as a player and I'd like to be successful as a manager. It is a tie we are looking forward to and a competition we will take seriously" On the team selection front a number of players need late checks before Sparky can finalise the squad to face Cardiff City. There is differing news for Rovers two recent signings; Ryan Nelsen will not be involved as his international clearance has not come through in time while Aaron Mokoena may be in line for his first team debut.

Could you pop round and help me with a heated towel rail and rad? Saturday morning before the Bolton game would be OK -
Very interesting post from Mr LB. Completley agree with your thoughts on Dunny and would love to see him back in the blue and white. One of my proudest moments as a Rover was watching Dunn lead out the England U21s at Ewood and having a front row view of the look of immense pride on his face as the teams lined up to face the JW stand.

i think that's entirely plausible. look at the rubbish they've bought off us - it's hard to imagine, should any of them leave brum, that they will be going anywhere but the championship or below. I think i'm right in saying that with the obvious exception of Damien Duff that's pretty much true of any recent departure (last 10 years or so) of Rovers. The grass is always greener...................... Out of interest, are you including Shearer in the camp that did or didnt? Yes I'd include Shearer in the "not done any better camp." It both pleases and saddens me he has not had the success his enormous talent deserved. There's no doubt Rovers had the best four years of Shearer's career, won his only medal, etc. Clearly he has continued to be a great player, but the criteria I was applying was going on to win more trophies. I realise Damien hasn't won anyhting with Chelsea but he very likley will this season.
