At least two Rovers fans at the back on the right as you face the pitch were removed by the police. Saw two city fans removed from the group on our left. 2 - 2 then
-
I have it on very good authority at least one manager attempted to remove Tony some years ago. Perhaps others did too? Who knows? The most interesting question is what has changed to mean the board where prepared to let him go? I can only imagine Hughes has put forward a very strong case for change

This was intended to be heavily laced with sarcasm and to point out how WELL our club is run. I get the feeling not everyone got my point.

You are joking Flopsy? Just got back from COMS and great to report Rovers played very well today and should have buried City. This game highlighted our three main problems: Less than a minute to go a cross whipped in by SWP was met at speed by Sibierski who, as they say, swept the ball in from 5-6 yards. Prior to that City didn't look dangerous at all. I was just settling back to enjoying a 0-0 HT score at this point. I'm not sure that we had relaxed, we just seemed to be caugt by the speed of the attack. The other two points the match really rammed home are the lack of a quality midfielder to deliver a telling through pass and the lack of a true goal scorer. Rovers were by far the better side, playing nice football on the ground and all of us should be greatly encouraged by the team work, fitness and work rate of the side. I can see a real difference today. We didn't win because we lacked quality balls into the box and someone to get on the end of them. To be honest we didn't create any real chances. Yes Stead had a great chance and Thomo banged a really good 20 yarder but that was about it. Dickov was brought down by Mills on the edge of the box; a clear foul but I was surprised Mills got a red. In summary a good game of football, Rovers dominated for long, long periods in fact the whole of the second half, lots to be positive about but despite this we are going to struggle to score till we make a couple of signings. -
In Administration: Barnsley - League One - £3m debt, Ridsdale in charge Bradford - League One - £13m debt Crystal Place - PL - £22m debt in administration 1999. Lost £10m last season, going down Derby - League One - £30m debt Ipswich - League One - £31m debt Leicester - League One - £50m debt Oldham - League Two? - sold for £1 YES £1 QPR - League One - £11m debt Swindon - League One - twice in administration Wimbledon - League One? - moved the bloody club to MK Struggling Nottingham Forest - current debt £15m Sheffield Utd - League One - broke Norwich - PL - £7m debt rescued by Delia, going down Manchester City - PL - £60m debt. Relegation will destroy them Bolton - PL £38m debt - doing better than us Sunderland - League One - £30m debt. 80 redundant Sheffield Wed - League One - £27m debt. Ken Bates wants to buy them! Watford - League One - sold entire squad Coventry - League One - £59m debt now £25m West Ham - League One - £24m debt Leeds Utd - £100m debt, sold ground today - £25m debt still Financially Sound Charlton - doing better than us Middlesborough - doing better than us West Brom - going down? Wolves - League One BLACKBURN ROVERS in the Premier league, financially OK Of the 26 clubs relegated from the PL in the last ten years only 5 are FINANCIALLY SOUND and in the PL. Only 3 are doing better than Rovers. John Williams and the entire board should be sacked. They are clearly all bloody useless and have no idea whatsoever how to run a football club. As for appointing Mark Hughes as manager, well only 85% of this MB thought it was a good idea so there's another fine mess they've made of it. Yes Tony Parkes has been treated badly. Yes mistakes were made but the club goes on. When will we ever stop moaning? The only thing available for criticism is the bloody board/stewards/police so lets all have a go at them. If Hughes had been here a year you could have a go at him We are in the sh!t because the players are a bunch of idle ###### who don't deserve to be at Ewood. Pure simple fact. Don't blame the board for anything other than backing Souness with the cash to buy them. Think I'll take my STs back tomorrow as I just can't take anymore. Anyone want three tickets for City?
-
I shall expect a decent pay-off if they don't want me to come anymore! I feel this is both a good and bad day. It's very sad to see Tony Parkes leaving, but then he's still a young man and i doubt he'll have to work again. Once he has recovered from the shock he will look forward to a long and well-earned retirement. Thanks for everything Tony, there will always be a place for you at Ewood. On the other hand I've long wondered when we are going to see the real benefits of the Acadaemy which is costing the club £2m per annum. If Hughes feels this is the way to ensure a good progression from youth to first team then we as the fans should be backing the move. While it's very unfortunate Tony found out via The Rag this is modern football. We have to watch and read everything in this way. It's sickening but that's how it is and it won't change.

On the nail FLB, in our house anyway. The uniform I wore 30+ years ago was very different from today but it was still a uniform. If I speak to my eldest about the issue, be it clothes, trainers or whatever it is ALL about acceptance within the peer group. I feel those who have made statements about being stereotyped are bang on the nail as well. For example if I see kids dressed from top to bottom in sports gear and a baseball cap I know exactly what to expect (these are "townies"? ) - regretably it is all too often true. Equally if I see a male, late 30s, beer belly, shaven head I have a pretty good idea of what to expect and this sterotype is often true. I could go on and on. If you dress in a praticular style most people will categorise you on sight. However the wonderful thing I find is all the young people I meet and talk to on a one-to-one basis prove to be intelligent, interesting, normal individuals. So what is it with the townies or whatever I bump into in Chorley and are more likely to hand out a mouthful of abuse than anything else. Usually they lack one thing - education - and of course any real sense of style

Frankly I'm more than a little fed up with the meaningless twaddle that has been posted over the last few days. Could EVERYONE please think before they hit the key board. Thank you

Really enjoyed that preview, colin. Prediction - not a clue but I shall travel in hope. -
Ah no I haven't forgotten Simon but my post about him said he deserved a mention in the debate to recognise his contribution to Rovers in the dark days. I don't think he's one of our greats but he is fondly remembered by this fan. I didn't vote for him last time and won't this time.
-
You may applaud that fan Paul but will you back him up when he gets involved in an argument or worse ? As you pointed out, a father with three kids gave you a mouthful of abuse for your reasonable request - would you risk the possibility of physical violence by saying the same to a group of youths ? Well in the past I've done the following: Tried to discuss with others the fact it's better to support the team than spend the entire game complaining. On that occassion all I got was a tirade from the moaners. Asked a drunk in the FS to moderate his language and received an apology and hand-shake. Tried to engage the police in a discussion about Rovers fans being asked to sit in the BBE and been threatened with ejection. If my kids enjoyment is being spoilt I'll ask anyone to sit. If I get thumped I'd request the police to prosecute. As I'll be with children I can't say I'd leave them to support another fan. Hopefully there won't be a problem of any sort.

Tris has Rovers interests deep in his heart. He's raised a subject that doesn't really have an impact on him other than his concern for the image of Rovers as a club. The reaction from a couple of posters is exactly that which deters people from travelling. I'm taking the kids on to COMS on Saturday and frankly this thread is beginning to make me dread the occassion. Like it or not modern football needs family support, especially little clubs like ours. This does not mean the "traditional" support should be marginalised - any football crowd has always been made up of families, how else would support for your club be passed through the generations - but it does mean that all fans have to recognise their responsibility to their fellow supporters. At the Liverpool game I received a mouthful of abuse in the FS from a fellow supporter who wanted to leave early with his kids. He and his three children stood on the steps directly in front of us for the last few minutes of the game and then abused me when I asked him to move. Wonderful behaviour and a great example to the fans of tomorrow. I'd applaud any fan who attempts to ensure Rovers fans behave in an exemplary fashion. Fail to do this and any arguements others may have with the club over standing etc are immediately rendered worthless. I lost all interest in England years agoand would never take my children to watch them. Why? I simply don't want to be associated with the stereotype of the boorish, drunken louts that follow the team. It's simply embarrassing and does not represent the vast majority of decent peole who do want to support England. Do people want the same to happen to Rovers?
-
Not at all sure about this one den, I'm torn between Super Atko and Sherwood both great players for Rovers in our recent history. I await the arguements with real interest.
-
50 notes for a baseball cap these people are really stupid.
-
After reading this I'm really looking forward to my first away trip since the SF at OT and my first visit to COMS. If my kids can't see I shall not be happy.
-
cuidado, I think the majority of fans would be happy to see any player in the side who would improve the team. Having seen MGP play it's apparent he has talent but is not ready for the PL. Clearly the manager feels the same about other crowd favourites - Gally, Jansen for example - fans who want to see those players in the team don't find it necessary to insult everything and everyone connected with Blackburn Rovers.
