  1. I've been in the corporate boxes at OT and endured abuse from the home boxes on either side every time Utd scored. The behaviour of the people in those boxes was quite appalling.
  2. I know, I know......just leaves me feeling very low
  3. Members clearly feel strongly over incidents in the crowd yesterday. Some of these thoughts were being lost in the Boro post match review, others were in the "Stewarding" thread. I have tried to bring all the relevant posts together in one spot. This is an important subject for fans - can we please try to keep on topic. Discuss the game in the review topic and the crowd situation in here. Thanks Paul
  4. Last season after nine games we had nine points, this year we have six. By Christmas we had 22 points (after Newcastle away). There is no reason why we cannot play our way out of the current position, just three points worse off than last year. The lessons from last season - we all know it, let's hope the players and management know it - we must beat the other rubbish teams in the Premier League. Palace, WBA, Norwich, Southampton, Portsmouth, Birmingham, Fulham must be beaten when they come to Ewood. I know it's being unbelievably optimistic but to win at home and draw away in those games is far more important than a result against a top six side. Get those results and we are bound to pick up a few more on the way and things will probably work out OK. The club is in a downward spiral and to look at Boro yesterday demonstrates how far we have fallen. I've never had any thought for Boro before but yesterday they turned up with a side packed full of house-hold names and real talent. Frankly outside of Lancashire you'd be hard pressed to know who most of our team are.
  5. I'd forgotten that den, do you have to stick with the 4-4-2? How about looking at the players selected and then picking the team? Just to give our greatest manager one last headache
  6. Me too. My recollections of our right wingers are pretty much in line with bob's. from what I've been told if Douglas doesn't win this it would be on par with Shearer not getting in the team
  7. I was 6. Not sure I knew about any football teams until around 1965. thought we were a similar age den?
  8. To me it looks like this thread is a straight choice between those players most of us have seen and Bryan Douglas. Difficult to say the least.
  9. Louis Bimpson.........?????? Don't recall him at all.
  10. Admin mode off, personal mode ON: It's very difficult to decide who to vote for in many of these polls. For me Mike England was our finest centre half but how can I not also vote for OOOOH Colin Hendry.....it's just impossible. Then again Keeley, Faz, Berg even Tony Gale have a real place in Rovers history but weren't such great footballers. If you've only got one to vote for how are you going to chose between Garner and Shearer? One the finest servant I've seen in blue and white, the other probably the finest player I shall ever see at Ewood. Who sums up Blackburn Rovers in one word - Shearer or Garner? I don't see a problem with the way den is running this excellent thread but clearly some of the polls will be decided very quickly. Byeeeeeeeeeeee - back to Admin.
  11. If they do could you fill the rest of us in too? This thread has been baffling me all morning. A member posted a remark about the booing during the one minute silence for Ken Bigley prior to the game. The remarks are best discribed as crass and insensitive. Personally I can understand why some may wish to question holding the minute's silence; however there are ways to do this and ways that are just plain offensive to people. The post that has been removed fell into the "downright stupid and insensitve " category. A number of members have expressed their views on the MB and privatley about the individual concerned After some debate we, admins and mods, felt it best to remove the post. Apologies to those who are confused by what follows in the rest of thread, we had hoped to avoid opening a very big can of worms. If people want to discuss the rights and wrongs of the Ken Bigley silence and the behaviour of some fans - no problem. Just keep it clean please. Think that sums up what the admins/mods feel about the matter
  12. It's also why I don't give two hoots about England's success or lack of it. Speaking generally it's probably better if we don't qualify for Germany as we will all be tarred with the same brush as these so called football fans. The whole country will be wringing it's collective hands for months as we endure yet more English hooligan sensationalaism.
  13. Shouldn't that be the TSB's cash?
  14. Wasn't that the game where the police held us all outside the ground in the area bewteen the stands and a set of gates?
  15. You may get a few responses to that With all respect , this doesn't equate entirely with your last response on this issue , Paul , re. libel and slander etc . I don't see why JW should be beyond criticism ; personally I've always felt that some of the sycophancy toward him on this forum has been quite nauseating. Phil, I don't have any problem with criticism of JW, the club or the trust but I can't repeat the allegation that was made about one member of the trust - that is what I deleted. mattyboy6000 made very serious allegations about an individual that would have to be substantiated if that person chose to challenge the allegation. I doubt the alleagtions could be substantiated by us. It was on a par with me stating "blue phil has been convicted of such and such a crime" - something I'm sure is not true and a statement I could not substantiate.
  16. mattyboy6000, We don't usually go in for public warnings on this messageboard, however I think your actions deserve it. If you repeat in any form the libellous allegations you posted on this message board earlier today you will be immediatley banned and reported to your ISP. You should be aware the Admin on this board have the ability to track and identify every user at anytime. If you think I'm joking, try it. now lets all play nicely as I want to watch TV at 9.00 thank you Paul
  17. I think, but I'm not 100%, Whelan bought the shares back at around £2.20 and they are currently values at £2.60/£2.80. There may have been a media story around that he was looking to sell again.
  18. Compared to my mortgage at 4.75% no!! I suspect the trust has to charge something that is reasonably competitive. Don't forget the trust also hands Rovers +/- £3m per annum to make up the shortfall in gate receipts.
  19. You may get a few responses to that Regarding the Duff/Dunn money, a proportion was made available to Souness with the balance being used to reduce debt of £15m. The ntention behind the debt reduction being to reduce the £750,000 Rovers pay in interest according to the last published accounts.
  20. There's always Chorley Alan, only £9 to get in Like you I'd have problems following a team that wasn't in blue and white though I can follow the arguements from both sides. I have to say I don't think there's anyone around with enough balls to drive such a merge through.
  21. ........and I get home quicker
  22. Plus, and I think these are important: a generation raised on Sky that either watches on the box or supports MU an increasingly mobile population that may support Rovers but not live in the area. I've raised 3 Rovers but will they be in the area in 20 years to raise 3 more each? - I very much doubt it. better things to do than watch easily accessible football
