  1. Grim. A waste of time for everyone who bothered to make the effort to turn up. Only one side was going to win that. Millwall had nothing about them but if you allow any side to keep throwing balls into the box eventually something will happen.
  2. Not quite sure what the club are asking fans to do, just wear a home shirt? It’s early January and everyone will be wearing coats so hard to show club colours. I saw some mention of a Tifo being designed?
  3. This isn’t to contest the wider point but our averages have often been helped by giving up the whole Darwen End to the bigger clubs. It’s actually interesting to see how often our attendances dipped below 20k between 04-08 despite how well we were doing. Obviously we were getting much bigger crowds than now either way. Looks like we’ve already sold almost half the available tickets in the upper tier so can see them opening the other half soon. This will likely be the first time since Oxford that we’ve had 20k home fans in the ground.
  4. Not long ago? It was nearly 15 years ago! It’s good to see a decent attendance, the team deserve it for the first half of the season if nothing else.
  5. Feels like people are prioritising the Burnley match over the other home games at Christmas. The Hull game would have been perfect for reduced prices. I recall we got a relatively decent crowd for the Bournemouth home game a couple of years ago, when they opened the Darwen End. Must have been around 19/20k home fans. This will almost certainly be the highest attendance for a game without price reductions.
  6. Not defending the prices but if we had more ST holders, we’d get fewer walk ons. Even with reduced ticket prices in recent years, we’ve not come close to filling Ewood. Oxford was the closest since relegation and that was 7 years ago plus included a range of factors beyond price that won’t apply to most games.
  7. Mowbray didn’t get interest because we rarely looked like getting promoted! JDT had a higher profile due to his playing days so was more likely to get linked elsewhere when we were doing well. Look where he went to after he left us. That doesn’t happen to most Championship managers. I think Eustace is still too unproven for a PL side. We’re more vulnerable to ambitious championship teams with parachute cash. Luton might not be attractive enough but if an Ipswich/Leicester come down next season and make a change, I can see Eustace being a strong contender.
  8. I think it’s too soon for a prem job. Saints will want an experienced PL manager. He’s only managed one full season of championship football hasn’t he? If we stay on this trajectory then he’ll be gone within the next year but I think prem clubs will look elsewhere for the time being.
  9. If you’re not getting excited by six wins in a row then what’s the point of following it at all? This doesn’t happen often so I’d enjoy it for what it is.
  10. Is McFadzean now the only summer outfield signing who hasn’t scored in the league this season? With Gueye and ACD now getting into form, the summer window may go down as one of the best in recent memory.
  11. I’d rather they open the BBE Upper than the Darwen End. Get the home end full first.
  12. The home attendances at the other Christmas games look average but the Burnley game is selling well including hospitality. If tickets keep selling at this rate then the BBE upper might get opened. Even acknowledging the ticket prices, if we can’t get a good crowd for the Burnley game with our current form and it being the Christmas period - we never will.
  13. How many postponements have there been recently? I can’t remember many. Any modern drainage system still needs somewhere for the water to go.
  14. Not too much to complain about with the performance. Watford had moments but didn’t deserve to win it. We’d have been screaming for a pen if it was at our end. Gueye is going to have a long season if he doesn’t get going soon. Devoid of confidence and overthinking everything. Some of the blind passes he played were comically bad. Cantwell and Beck looked a level above everyone else. The lack of conviction in the final third is a worry, as is the general lack of pace.
  15. Winning games and being in the play off places is entertaining enough for me.
  16. A striker who didn’t manage to score? Already got several of those. I didn’t particularly notice him to be honest. WBA look a tidy team but no one player particularly stood out apart from their full back who couldn’t throw a ball properly.
  17. Find it odd people are choosing to criticise Eustace for his style of play despite the points tally. Birmingham thought the same last season and that panned out well.. We look well organised and hard to beat. It’s dull and attritional but we’re better at it than what we were trying to do under JDT.
  18. Says a lot about our squad depth that yesterday we were without Sigurdsson, Wharton, Beck, Brittain and Leonard, and it barely made a difference. The most impressive thing for me is that we look damn hard to beat. Haven’t conceded a goal since August. The longer this run goes on, the less it feels like a fluke.
  19. Poor game from any perspective. Similarities to the Burnley game in that the team with 10 men have a more straightforward game plan and can look more effective at both ends of the pitch. Prefer to see Gueye start over Yuki in future. Satisfied with a point. I think we all know that we’re in a bit of a false position in the league and we can’t keep relying on 20 yard screamers to win games, but we’re much harder to beat than under JDT and that alone will give us a chance in most games.
  20. Well, you have managed to forget.. Sukur played for us in 02/03, not 03/04. The ‘04 game was the 3-4.
  21. He sounds like an excitable 14 year old. Shouts down the mic and his pitch gets higher with every word. Full marks for enthusiasm but he’s not cut out for it unfortunately.
  22. None of us have seen Toth play and he’s had no time with the team in training. Playing Pears is a risk but rushing Toth into the starting XI is arguably a bigger one. Pears will keep his place for now but I’m sure Toth will get a chance within the month.
  23. The flag was for Hedges being offside, not Dolan. Both are onside but Hedges is more marginal. FWIW I think Hedges could have been done for fouling their defender (another marginal call) so VAR may not have saved us anyway.
