  1. The way we fought back agaist Fulham, Birmingham and Blackpool suggests differently. The problem is that we always seem to have to fight our way back into games. We need to score the first goal. I feel for Kean in many ways but agree mostly with the argument that he is the wrong man for this relegation scrap. The issue I have is that some fans seem to have to view things in an entirely negative or positive light. Kean's team selections have been, generally speaking, ok. In fact, as i previously elduded to, I think he's choosing a better team then many that Allardyce picked. In terms of fighting spirit and leadership, the fightbacks against Brum and Blackpool in particular would suggest that the dressing room is pushing in the same direction and has the desire to fight for the manager. My problem with Kean is that he's trying to change the way we play at the wrong time of the season. He should have kept us going down the 'Allardyce football' route until safety and then begun to experiment with a more fluid, attacking style of play. Sacking Sam wasn't the problem per se, it was that it was done at Christmas. Kean trying to get us to suddenly play in different systems with new players is again, not a problem, its just that he's trying to do it at the wrong time. Other teams are far more settled then we are and know what they're doing. We're still finding our best 11.
  2. Kean is basically playing that team. For all the criticism he gets I cannot believe that many people genuinely question his selections. Allardyce's picks were far more frustrating. RSC over Kalinic is the only call which you could contest. Kean is getting the best out of Hoilett and has found J.Jones/Rochina who both look to have improved the side. Kean has many faults but I personally wouldnt question the team he starts with.
  3. I think he still has to get used to the pace of the league but with his techinical ability that should just be a matter of time. Against a less settled side at home I think he'd flourish. The bolton game at home could be the first time when we can really expect something from the kid. Such a shame that we're uncovering the likes of Hoilett and Rochina now. Its a massive ask to expect them to turn our season around but at least they seem to have the ability.
  4. Decent pace. Great touch and vision. Passing was sometimes slightly off but that could be put down to the speed of the game. People writing him off based on that performance are having a laugh. If we stay up then Rochina and Hoilett could become massive players for us.
  5. Shay Given. Lets not go overboard on this Barton kid. We have no idea where he is going to end up in a few years. If he makes it as a decent premiership player then fine, but lets not start crying that we let one through the net.
  6. That is surely that. A home world cup year and he couldnt get in shape. He's finished.
  7. I dont think anyone here as any problems with Benni leaving, its how he conducted himself in order to leave which is the issue. Benni's lack of effort when it came to getting himself fit over the course of the past 6/7 months and then his refusal to train so that he gave Sam absolutely no option but to get rid of him for any price, is the reason for why I, and many other Rovers fans find it hard to look back on Benni's time here with much fondness without it being tainted by his pathetic actions during January. I dont want to hear boo's when/if he ever comes back to Ewood, but equally I dont want people to blame Allardyce or the club for selling him. He was a child to behave in the way he did and nobody can pretend that his attitude woudlnt have had a detrimental effect on the dressing room in the long run. Should Sam have played him more? possibly. Should Benni have gotten himself fit in the first place? probably. Should Benni have refused to train in order to engineer a move to another football club? No. That is unforgiveable.
  8. Sad way for it to end. He had the footballing talent and intelligence which could compare to some of the Ewood greats', yet his off the field attitude has always left a lot to be desired. The childish way in which he has behaved over the past week shows that he is not right for this club. He will do well for West Ham, as he did well for us when we first signed him. But in a years' time i doubt the name of Benni McCarthy will be ringing around Upton Park too often. Up until the New Year, Benni was always a player who I considered to have the footballing ability to overshadow some of his flaws off the pitch, however, now I think its clear that despite how talented he clearly is, his commitment and desire was always lacking. When he was interested, he was almost unplayable but too often you got the feeling that he'd rather be somewhere else. The way in which he has conducted himself recently will leave a sour taste in the mouth and forever taint the memories of his time here.
  9. Benni had a choice. If he had gotten fit then I dont think Sam would have had any excuses not to play Benni, as it is, we can clearly see that Benni is nowhere near the fitness that he was at when he first arrived. The fact that neither Hughes/Ince or Allardyce have managed to get Benni into decent shape clearly shows that the guy just doesnt have a great deal of motivation off the pitch. Regardless of how you view Allardyce, you cannot defend Benni for the way he has behaved over the past week. Its not good enough by anyone's standards. Its petty, childish and selfish, especially when you consider how much we, as supporters have lauded him over the psat 3/4 years. We knew he wanted to leave but to have left in this way is pathetic. Who is more at fault? Allardyce for demanding Benni to get fit and then not playing him or Benni for not getting fit enough in the first place, and then refusing to train in order to engineer a move away. Im not saying that Allardyce hasnt done anything wrong but Benni is by no means an innocent party here. He is no victim.
  10. Some guy in Uruguay made this short film for £150. Just been given a £30m film contract.
  11. Recent films: Men who stare at goats - worth a watch. Nothing particularly special but its entertaining. Kevin Spacey probaby the pick of a high profile cast. Ewan McGregor's accent was shocking. Wanted to like it a lot more, but it wasnt too bad. Zombieland - Reasonable, but just had the feeling that id seen it all before. Not a touch on Shaun of the dead. Amusing in places without really being hilarious Recently watched on DVD: Public Enemies - Really enjoyed it. Not for everyone but thought it kept the interest for the whole film. 21 - Rubbish In the Loop - Great film. Still funny 3/4th time viewing. No country for old men - Watched again for the first time since release and it was much better the second time of watching. Fully recommended.
  12. Wolves are poor opposition - but the formation worked Burnley was about attitude - plus the formation allowed us to win Played well in parts against Villa - well again, the formation didnt hinder us West Ham - could have been our 'attitude' and not the formation. Away form - Man Utd/Chelsea/Arsenal away from home in one month. Also explains the goal ratio. 451 can work. My objections to it are that it relies to heavily on Dunn playing a blinder. 442 will allow us to play poorly and win. that is its huge advantage. We know Benni can work very well with Roberts up front and id like to see Sam start with that next time out.
  13. id be embaressed as a Rovers fan if anyone booed McCarthy. Im guessing it was more for the decision to take Roberts off and not for simply McCarthy. thats what i hope. He is a very skillfull player and i would still easily class him above Roberts in almost every department except when it comes to workrate. Roberts will never score 20 in a season. McCarthy has. That is all i really care about to be honest. Although this season Roberts really has upped his game to be fair. Deserves to be starting. i wouldnt sell McCarthy for anything less than £10m atm. Proven prem goalscorers do not grow on trees. Our strikeforce is arguably the most potent outside the top 4 if not including Arsenal. Each striker brings something different. McCarthy, on form is a matchwinner.
  14. at old trafford Bellamy did play. Bellamy was a good player and he would have scored many more had he not been injured so much...however the potential disruption he could potentially cause in the dressing room was a risk which hughes took and is now occuring at Anfield. Benni is a different player. he's more skillfull and more clinical. Bellers would only have to touch the ball and the opposition were immediately petrified, but he doesnt have that flamboyance which benni posseses. if we had kept bellers and bought McCarthy then in my eyes we would have had the best strike partnership in the prem.
