Being a striker myself for a couple of decades (not professional level, but a fairly decent local standard) I always try to to pay close attention to our forward players and especially our new recruits in that area so far this season. Having watched Big Mak for a few games now I think his hold up play is actually very good if the ball is into his feet or chest, he also doesn't mind a battle in the air. When he takes the ball in and lays it off or plays someone in on goal, he looks very handy. He also looks to make some intelligent runs in behind the defence, but either isn't being seen or played in by his team mates, hoping Cantwell may be able to remedy this with a few more games together. The problem definitely comes when he tries to over play, against Watford I'm not sure what he saw a couple of times, playing 30-40 yard passes out of play. I think maybe he was trying to do too much after his early successes this season, not sure. Then you have the issue that his finishing looks miles off it at the moment, he seems to lack composure and snatches at his opportunities, dragging and scuffing shots wide or straight at the keeper. Maybe bagging a goal or two will help him settle, but his technique does look suspect, so who knows if that can be rectified! As previous posters have said, he does look like he should be strong in the air but we are yet to see him really dominate and win headers in the opposition box to get efforts on goal. Obviously we can caveat this with the fact that we don't really seem to get many crosses in during open play, but the ball rarely finds him from set pieces either. Overall, IMO, I think he could turn out to be a useful championship striker, not one that's going to get you 20 goals a season but if he can keep it simple, occupy centre halves and bring others into play, he could yet still be an important cog in the system. I guess we can all just hope that he turns out to be more Rudy than Samir! I'm also not sure what we can really expect for a bag of crisps and some Venky's Express vouchers, until the owners sell up we are forever going to be shopping in the bargain basement hoping to unearth a gem, or praying that the academy produces again...but I digress.

Same issue with the match centre streaming button not even appearing. Pay to watch the game and don't even have access, shocking! -

I've been jetting across the world, using different browsers, incognito mode, cleared caches (I'm a web developer by trade so know all the tricks), nothing works! -

Anyone else had issues getting to buy the match pass from *ahem* Spain or one of the other countries that the news article said it would be available to purchase from on Rovers TV? -
Just for reference, at roughly the same age as Hirst had his spell at Rotherham, Harry Kane scored 2 in 13 apps for Leicester in the Championship, they also got promoted that year I think so had a decent team. Obviously not saying that Hirst is the next Harry Kane, but what it does tell you is that loan spells for young players don't always indicate what level they may reach in the future. I have no idea if Hirst will be any good or not by the way, just thought that was an interesting comparison.

One thing I did take from watching the game last night, and the previous league games, in my opinion, Dack needs to be playing in any game where we are likely to have more of the ball. He might not be able to get about and chase down as much as Sammie but so far, Dack still looks like a far superior footballer. His speed of thought and ability to play one or two touch, as well as hold onto the ball when needed, puts him ahead of the pack in our attacking options. I do worry that maybe the others, bar Hedges, aren't quite on the same wavelength as him when it comes to reading the game in an attacking sense. Last night he sometimes looked to be a step ahead of the others and they didn't read his intentions which made some of his passes look wasteful. He also makes some fantastic runs that seem to go unnoticed and he isn't found. Just an opinion as I said, but so far Sammie has done little to prove that he offers more than Dack does, long season ahead and I'm sure Sammie will prove his worth, but for me, for now, Dack should be starting and running his knackers off until he is spent and then Sammie brought on to replace him. -

I have to say I thought he was woeful the first 20-30 minutes at the weekend. Our worst player in the opening period by my reckoning. After that he settled into it and had a half decent game. He obviously has an eye for a pass and some natural ability but at this moment in time I still think we will only see it in flashes. Totally agree with others who have suggested he needs to be more physical both in attitude and body. Fingers crossed he develops further and we have a quality player on our hands, overall I'm yet to be convinced but hoping to be proven wrong! -

My Leeds supporting mate reckons we have just signed the best left back in the Championship. High praise indeed, but then he does support Leeds so hard to trust his judgement! -

Living in Norwich I can safely say that a lot of Norwich fans rate Trybull and from what I have seen of him myself he looks like a good signing at this level. As an aside, him and his wife are both pretty active on instagram, or at least used to be, for those that are social media inclined. -

Regarding Ruddy, apparently (so my Norwich supporting friends tell me) he still lives in the Norwich area and commutes to Wolverhampton as he didn't want to leave the area when he left Norwich. I can't imagine a commute up to Blackburn every day is plausible so if the above is true it might be a sticking point in any deal. Would be a good signing IMO if we could get it done though! -
Holiday Camp Mentality

I live in Norwich and work with season ticket holders here. One of the first things one guy said this morning when talking about football was that pretty much all of the Norwich players are off to Dubai or Tenerife this week. I think it's pretty common place for players at all teams to head away over the international break at this time of year, regardless of form or league standing. No opinion on whether it's right or wrong, Just hope it does the trick for our lot and they come back to put a shift in for the remaining games of the season! -
A work colleague has just returned from a holiday in Portugal and told me he met a rovers fan out there who knows Joe Garner and said that he's very unsettled at Ipswich and would love to return to the North West, preferably back to Rovers. As always with these things take it with a large pinch of salt, no indication that we are even interested, personally not sure it would be the answer to our striker wishes either but just thought I'd pass it on for potential debate!
