That makes interesting. At least it's funny to see the Celtic fans riled up like this https://thecelticstar.com/bunch-bs-john-mcginn-three-options-open-hibs/

Match Thread Ipswich away match thread
briansol replied to philipl's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Felt like defeat didn't it? The starting line-up was as expected given the same 11 beat Everton 3-0, plus Davenport was injured and Palmer not match fit. I feared for Williams against Edwards who impressed for PBoro. Our problem on the left side of defence is the lack of pace. Mulgrew doesn't have the pace to cover properly for Williams. Another issue with Williams for me is that far too often drifts in as a third centre back, leaving the right winger with too much space. His positioning for the first goal was wrong as people have mentioned. Did well for the second goal though, picking out Dack there is not as easy as it seems, needs to get the angle and power correct. We didn't create much, but was very effective and Palmer should've buried the game. Still we looked solid only to be undone by a fluke goal. Ipswich overloaded the midfield and it was hard for us to play through the middle and get Dack involved. Needed to utilise the wings and I think Armstrong would've been perfect to threathen the channels. Samuel was back at his worst after a couple of good preseason games. Hurst is trying to build a League One all-star team which seems like smart idea. Edwards is an excellent signing and Harrison is an handful although I don't think he has a lot of goals in him. They looked however very much as a work in progress and we were far better organized. I would've taken the a point before the game. We will not be at full force before getting our signings done, match fit and bedded in. So probably looking at september before you see the Championship version of Rovers. If we can pick up points in the meantime things are looking ok. -
Well that is a strange link. Suddenly we are linked to the second coming of Jesus (according to Hibs fans) and valued at 4 million. Big contrast from being linked to League 2 players at least. Seems totally unrealistic to pull this off, the transfer fee, Celtic being confident of getting him and player wanting to come here. Brighton is also heavily linked.

Derby has been truly awful. Barely been in Reading's half and not had a chance. They have no width, no plan and doesn't look like a team. It's fine to have good players on paper, but in the end is about having a team. Reading on the other hand have a plan and great place on the flanks through Barrow and Alukho. They don't look like scoring though. None of Bodvarsson, Barrow and Alukho are known to be clinical. I fancy our chances to compete given this level of football.

Yes, he proved that last season. We basicly played an advanced winger/forward all season.
-
Not arguing that. Still need a couple of quality additions to the squad.
-
I agree. A younger Graham, a winger, a defender would do. In that order. Not that bothered by bringing in another keeper this window. I think you'll find that most of the squad has indeed Championship experience. It's basicly just Dack, Rothwell and the young ones like Travis who haven't played there before. They might have been relegated but at least they have experienced the level.

If Preston had an interest it might explain if the deal was rushed forward.
-
Genuine pace which we lacks. I really hope it's permanent and I think it is.
-
Think he's a midfielder, not sure if he fits the profile.
-
Thinks so. I reckon one of the forwards needs to be able to hold up the ball to challenge Graham.
-
Well Wickham played his first match after 600 days out injured on Saturday so maybe it wasn't so far fetched

Nope, too many on Twitter like https://twitter.com/McConnellJamie that tries to impersonate ITK.

Seems to be based of this tweet, which doesn't contain any more context

Re: Gallagher A redeeming fact about the MK Dons loan, was that he just had lost his father who he was close to and was mentally wasn't there. At Birmingham he was often deployed on the right wing, and was probably their best player after Christmas according to my Brum friend.
-
Think that is quite accurate, especially that both Gallagher and Armstrong are not hold up players like Graham. Gallagher for me is quite similar to Samuel, probably an upgrade. Armstrong lacks height and power, but is quicker, more dynamic and more of a goalscorer.

Do you have any suggestions? Last season only two players reached double digits, Vydra and Grabban. Grabban just moved to Forest for 6 million and Vydra would cost far more in and is on 30k at Derby. Season before that you had Chris Woods, Dwight Gayle, Tammy Abraham and Glenn Murray with 20+ so you are looking at a very limited group and very expensive group with 20+ credentials. As I mentioned before it have to be punt on an old-timer, a PL loan or a lower league prospect. Could we revive someone like Ross McCormak without disrupting team morale? Would Nchema be the next Tammy Abraham? Seems like most of the lower league prospect like Marriot, Eisa and McNulty has already moved this transfer window.
-
Problem is that very few get 15+ in Championship and players who have done are usually at bigger clubs or PL. So your options either going for another Graham (aging striker who done it before but not delivered recently), a young potential (Gallagher, Nchema etc) or lower leaguer (can they make the step up?=

I doubt he was suprised by the Bamford fee. If anything if was less then expected by the media. Could be Gallagher's linked 7 mill move to Stoke, which suprised most people.

I didn't read it as they being on the D list. Appearantly they where very much in the mix so they could be anywhere from lower on the B list all the way to D. It was clear that he was aiming higher which is interesting as those two are highly rated among the supporters. He does set himself up for a bit of failure if we don't land them or someone better though.
-
Think so, but we could never afford those wages which was the reason he couldn't agree a new contract. Far too good for Championship so I reckon he will have a payday in China or somewhere exotic.
-
That list of signings looks very similar to the Coyle summer list when we went down. Some might turn out ok like Mulgrew. They have a better manager then Coyle, and they will probably have more fight than quality. Magennis is an awkward customer, though never prolific. Otzumer has quality, but I'm not sure how he fits in in Parkinson's tactics. He couldn't get the best out of Armstrong so I have my doubts.

Harrison has signed for Ipswich. Ipswich are also rumoured to be interested in Kayden Jackson of Accrington Stanley who played well against us on Saturday.
