Maybe they'll add a second date on the 22nd at Manchester? It's a free date at the moment before Brum on the 23rd. -

[Archived] Benni Mccarthy - Gone

"My problems at the club started when Paul Ince walked in." Yes, that's right Benni. Benni's problems actually began when Paul Ince kept ringing him in the summer of 2007. Ince does a mean Jose Mourinho impression and kept hinting of a possible move to Chelsea. This messed with poor Benni's head. So much that his form was erratic at best last season (and that's being kind). Benni was still fooled by Ince come the end of last season when he admitted that his head had been turned by "Joses" advances and it affected his form. Then the kicker, pre-season training. Most of the squad did some running about and what have you in order to get fit. What does Ince do? Sit's Benni in a room with nothing for company bar pies and cakes. He forces Benni to eat them and gets Ray Mathias to egg him on by clapping his hands and shouting "Go on big lad!!" every 2 minutes. Ince out. -

Well if it's anything like this little rascal The Day That Never Comes I for one will be delighted. And that boys and girls is all that matters!! Until then Motorhead's latest gem should be with me on Monday. "Rock out - with your cock out". Good work Lem. -

That hasn't done Frank Skinner any harm though has it? -
"...John Lowey and Windy Miller" - Windy Miller, Windy Miller la la la la la la!! etc What a great photo. Of course the likes of Jim Mk II and theno will be keen to point out that these guys were second rate players, only at Ewood because they weren't good enough for Division 1. Well screw them (theno is that big a fan of BRFC he'd shut the club down to form another at a drop of a hat.) These guys are legends each and every one of 'em. If it wasn't for them we may well have spent most of the 80's in the 3rd or 4th division. And people on here think we're skint now!

Where Are They Now?

I don't know him but that was Neil Arthur. As for Warhurst - still injured probably. -

Good grief. What are you on about now? Do you think Downes decides who gets taken as a Pro?!? Downes goes out and picks the best he possibly can from throughout the whole of Europe and occasionally as far as Great Harwood. If those guys don't get picked after a couple of years, to go into the first team squad then they get released, it's not his fault. It's the First Team Manager who makes that decision. If they go on to hit the heights later in their career at the likes of FC Oula and AZ Alkmaar rather than Everton or Arsenal then it's hardly Downes' fault is it? (SORRY! Off topic.) -
I genuinely find it incredible how much they dislike us. It's very flattering really isn't it? It's been commented on here recently, do they not have a full blown derby game anymore? Traditionally it was Bury wasn't it and they did used to sing "We Only Hate Man United". It would appear from that article that it's us that they save most of their venom for (either that or they've got too much time on their hands, then again it is the same jokes they were peddling 12 months ago so you'd hope it wouldn't take too long to put together). It's a shame for them that we, generally speaking, don't give a toss about them.

A proper Rovers man. I'd be far more confident with things if he was on the Board these days. Keep it coming Ozz - great stuff this. (There you go - there's at least two of us reading this!!)

Quality! Saw that earlier this week. That gardener has no chance! Cheers A.S.

Saw them on Saturday night in Lincoln. They were very very good. Disagree with you on the new stuff though Tris, best they've done for years - IMO of course! -

Just so you know, the new Charlatans album is available to download as of Monday Cockmeister. Here: http://www.xfm.co.uk/. The single Oh Vanity is also on there - You can hear it now it's just three of clicks of your mouse away. Presty - I have never heard of any of that lot on that poster thing. I'd just like to take this opportunity to officially declare myself "old" and out of touch. -

OK - Old bands new stuff. Anyone heard the new Charlatans stuff? Very good it is too. Take a look on YouTube (Oh Vanity) or just go on their website (last two singles are downloadable from XFM - as is the new album in March). The fact that this time round they sound like New Order is undoubtedly a good thing. After all we'll not be hearing from New Order again it would appear after the boy Hook has thrown his lot in. Talking of the legendary New Order can anyone confirm that once upon a time on the front of the NME the question was posed (something along the lines of) "Why do Blackburn Rovers hooligans have such an affiliation with New Order?" Anyone remember that? -
[Archived] New Deal For Mokoena?
bob fleming replied to den's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
You've done it now. The Sky Sports Teletext thing states that Samba is suspended and "Zurab Khizanishvilli or Aaron Mokoena will fill in at Centre Half". Surely not? Hughesy wouldn't do that to us would he? Not at Christmas an all? -
[Archived] Benni Mccarthy - Gone
bob fleming replied to adam lodge's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Thanks for the reply Eddie. Eloquent as ever. Just a few things then... The penalty was rubbish and I don't actually recall Benni putting it in the opposite corner (but I'm probably wrong) - In all fairness anyone can take a bad 'un but I alonng with the other 16,000 or whatever it was knew he was going to put it there. "Graft" you're right it's a different opinion to mine. "Flicks and Tricks" - on his day it's brilliant. I remember one such day this season. "Benni is the best goalscorer we've had at this club since Shearer" - I don't think so. He's scored 5 league goals this season. FIVE. Hardly setting the world on fire is it? What he did last year has no bearing on what he does this season (unfortunately). Shearer once scored 5 after he was laid up with his knee from his hospital bed - and even when he wasn't scoring from Bed 12 Ward C he made a few assists. I believe the term we're looking for here with Benni is HIGH MAINTENANCE. That's where the "Graft" comes in I suppose. I honestly wouldn't mind if Hughes "cashed in" - so long as we get a replacement in (before anyone mentions the money - Santa Cruz cost £3.5m? I'd take two of those against two Benni McCarthy's anyday of the week). As for the personal stuff - where? I just said you were talking @#/?. Is that personal? Who knows. It wasn't meant to be a personal attack, although looking back it was a little blunt I suppose. I just disagreed strongly with what you said. -

And you do? You talk utter @#/?. That penalty yesterday summed him up - a half arsed attempt, under hit and put in the same place he always puts it. If he doesn't want to be here then get rid - end of. A player not putting in 100% every week, doing fancy flicks at the wrong time and in the wrong area of the pitch, leaving the ground before the final whistle because he's been subbed - it's in the best interests of the club to get shut as far as I'm concerned and cash in. I don't care how much bloody skill he has - it means nothing if he can't be bothered to add a bit of graft to it as well. As for that crap you've written in the Hughes out thread. "He looks like a manager out of ideas" What was the view of the dug out like from Paris? What do you want, a badge? "I said it first, it was me this time not rover6 - Hughes must go". Pathetic. Get rid of those who don't want to be here - let them go elsewhere - I'd suggest in most instances they'll be going to a lesser club but then again I suppose some of them want regular first team football. -

Same old set though? Any new stuff? Are they still playing Rosalie? -
Great stuff Oz. I remember this season well. Just had a look on Soccerbase for the results after the Portsmouth match, four straight wins culminating in a 2-1 win against Leeds on Boxing Day - top of the table and there really was a feeling that we were going to do it. And then, without wanting to steal too much of your thunder Oz, it all went wrong. Culminating in the 3-0 win against Wolves on the final day of the season. We could still have done it that day but results went against us. Still, Rovers did their bit. Ian Millers tears anyone?

[Archived] New Deal For Mokoena?
bob fleming replied to den's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
The actual quote was cut short. "Every player wants to play as much as possible. I've always been patient, but I don't like sitting on the bench. I started more games towards the end of last season, but it has been more frustrating this season once again. The gaffer says that once I learn how to jump and challenge for a header in the box then I might get a regular game but until then I'm going to be in and out of the team and I should keep quiet. It's just not fair. It didn't stop Darren Peacock or Christian Dailly. Why pick on me? -
Hard to say Gav if I remember right we were all stuck down one of the sides of the ground, rather than behind a goal - it was jam packed, if not dangerous. 5k won't be far off I'd imagine but it's a long time ago now. Whittle Blue - legendary stuff fella. Please keep it coming.

The answer is simple. Remove the top tier of the Darwen End, Blackburn End and half the Jack Walker Upper. Therefore reducing the capacity to around 20K. We'll then sell out every single week. The pundits and Sky commentators will then start saying "these are some of the most passionate fans in the Premiership". Well it works for Portsmouth anyway. I wonder if they're having a similar discussion about how their world will cave in if they don't start averaging more than 20K every match? As we know they can't as their stadium isn't big enough, but it doesn't seem to be slowing them down either. Maybe all that Sky / Setanta TV money is pulling them through as well? As for "punching above our weight" - I wouldn't want to say that in front of Mark Hughes. Are you after a place on the board Theno?
