  1. Correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't the wage bill £35 million in last years accounts?
  2. Yep - got it. The Charlatans "Up At The Lake". It's good. You have to play it a few times though to get the "vibe". Bit different again to their other stuff. I must admit that it's not one of my favourites of theirs though.
  3. It's started Den. And where's Gennoe, Gayle, Windy Miller, Briggs, Waggy, Flowers and Sean Curry?!? I think you have a point FLB about Shearer. I think to be a "cult" as such, you can't necessarily be the best, which Shearer undoubtedly was. I mean there are players in Den's list (none of which I think should be excluded) that would never get in an all time Rovers XI.
  4. Good point well made den. I'll get me coat.
  5. Any chance of a Poll or is it a bit late for that now? I only began watching Rovers in 1981 so wasn't as fortunate as some to have seen some of the older players. Seems to me that Sir Roger Jones is walking away with this.
  6. Sven should be burnt at the stake for his underhand sexual antics. He seems to be at it every five minutes. First that Ulrika Johannssson three years ago, then that Nancy Dallaglio (who he had the nerve to actually live with!! - out of Wedlock ) and now this Secretary harlot. Where will it end? He should learn to tie a knot in it. He must resign or be removed immediately, taken to Trafalgar Square and fed to the pigeons. Plus he's tactically rubbish and is being paid a fortune for it.
  7. Got mine yesterday, number 8378. Should be a reasonable turnout.
  8. I was just thinking of that! He's definitely in. Only the one season from Speedie at Ewood but some of the best memories. Got to be Simon Garner and Colin Hendry as well. (Close but no cigar for Alan Shearer, Tim Flowers, Jason Wilcox, Windy Miller, and Kevin Moran)
  9. Actually you need to remember that Jordan is in fact 7 foot 6. Dickov, despite what many have been led to believe, is huge towering bloke as well. If you look at that picture again this is proven as you'll see Brad Friedel on the left hand side of the picture, just in shot, about to warm up with his blue football.
  10. Isn't he coming for a trial for a few days or something first before we sign him (if he's good enough?) Personally I wouldn't tell anyone anyway even if he does sign. Just keep it nice and quiet. Make him play with a brown paper bag on his head.
  11. Just a guess but I doubt they're going to make an official statement about something they don't want anyone to know about.
  12. All clever stuff Tris. Perhaps if they employed some more people to pull pints a bit quicker, people might be tempted to arrive a bit earlier. Oh - and reduce the price. You can tell we're getting nearer if I'm bringing up this old chestnut. Three weeks today!
  13. Blueboy - Tugay for England put this in the And So It Starts All Over Again thread "The lads also saw Barry walk out just after the break, asked if everything was ok and were given the thumbs up by him, so it would seem he is ok." Sounds like he's OK.
  14. It'll all end in tears. It looks like John Newsham has already jammed up one DeanoStyle already. Anyway, joking aside - prestonblue - I'm sure I read in the small print that you have to wet it and then stick it to your forehead for it to work properly. "DO NOT, under any circumstances hold the DeanoCard by hand. In the unlikely event of rain the lasers may well cause lacerations to the hand. Secure the DeanoCard to your forehead with a bit of spit to avoid low level laser burns, just to be on the safe side like."
  15. 13th!?! 13 = Unlucky for some - namely us poor ******** at Ewood who can to put up with that garbage every other week for far too many years. Bit disappointed that Two Princes by the hilarious Spin Doctors didn't finish a little higher. To think I actually bought that garbage in what must rank as one of the worst purchases anyone's ever made. (Up there with Grabbi. (£1.99 vs £7,000,000.00)) Looking back I would have preferred to have had my ears removed. Perhaps that's something they should start doing in Reidy's? "And can I take this Two Princes CD Single by The Spin Doctors as well please." "Wouldn't Sir prefer to have his ears removed instead?" "er, um, aye, oh go on then, thanks"
  16. Thanks Dave. After reading that and thinking long and hard over the last few hours I've come to the conclusion that if you live in Australia then it probably isn't a good idea to get a season ticket. As Dave has pointed out there are just too many mid-week games.
  17. Well that's the first time I remember anyone saying "Sh!te 2291st post" anywhere at all, ever, but there you go. dave birch - I don't know what to say. You need to get to work on some sort of Tardis if you want to get to the game. Just out of interest, how much would it cost and how long would it take to get from Aus to Rovers and back? Probably more than £385 I'd guess. It amazes me that there are people on the other side of the world who care more about this club than some "fans" of the club in Blackburn. Some people don't know what they've got. Which leads me nicely to Atty's post. Ultimately, it'll come down to money and attendances and all that carry on. If the people in the town aren't prepared to back the club then eventually we'll find our own level, I just hope that that level is still in the Premiership, although I have my doubts. But as Eddie said - we've been here before.
  18. Actually Tom - let's let last season lie. He wasn't alone in being a bit bobbins was he? Sure, he's a lot to prove and he even said as much himself, that he wants to show the form he is capable of for us this coming season. So if you could give him the first five minutes against WBA, and then revert back to giving him stick, I think you'll have been more than fair.
  19. Chris - It's early days in their relationship and I for one wish them all the very best. They don't need this constant probing into their private lives. It's a perfectly normal relationship that should be left to develop at it's own pace between a grown man and a squirrel. Strewth, it's like the dark ages on here sometimes.
  20. Tugay's Squirrel - 34 Tugay's Invisible Friend - Sealdinho - 36 Oystenhausen - 37
  21. That's the squirrel that warned Tugay about the car that was about to hit him. Tugay swerved at the last millisecond thanks to the squirrel and his life was saved. Since then they've been inseparable. What a good do.
  22. Totally agree 92er, there's little point slagging these people off, it only puts their backs up and they'll be even less inclined to come back. We should wait until we're all in the ground vs WBA - and then have a proper collective moan about them. Should at least make for a “buzzing” atmosphere. However Blueboy, that's a pitiful excuse. Just 'cause you'll be livin on the other side of the world doesn't mean you can't make the matches. Sure it'll be something like a 3 day round trip per game and it'll cost you thousands and thousands of pounds but that's no excuse. If you had just said "I have to work the odd Saturday afternoon now, it’s not really worth it" or "Andy Cole was my favouritest player of ever and ever and he tries really, really hard all the time and I don't want to go anymore now" I think we’d have been a bit more understanding, but this "wrong side of the planet" logistical stuff just doesn’t wash I’m afraid.
  23. Brilliant Sam Hope you don’t mind Sam… I seem to recall that Short's pass to Gresko didn't amount to much because the linesman gave offside… "and so he came to pass to Dwight Yorke, who stood with huge smile and lack of positional foresight, in an offside position. The Gods raged on yonder touchline. "O God, he was no interfering with play lino". "No change there then" spoketh the fourth official." It appears that even in Biblical times they were having trouble with the interpretation of the offside law.
  24. Backed him last season - 1st game - think he was 25-1. Only a fiver on him though, which was still nice. Agree though anything at 25-1 or above AND he takes Pens has got to be worth a dabble.
