  1. That's not really the point - obviously you back a keeper, that performs at a consistently high standard, through a couple of wobbles. Pears has made numerous clangers and proven he isn't consistently 'good'... and is still number 1. If we sign a better keeper, he should be straight in. There are some arguing that the shirt should be Pear's to lose. In which case, it won't take long - first clanger and he's out!
  2. It seems like only Ipswich are willing to take a punt at present. No point taking a lowish offer for the sake of it. They are likely to come straight back down so not a team he 'must' sign for. All it takes is for a couple of lower prem clubs to get early injuries and they'd likely come knocking at the end of the window Also, if Szmodic starts off in a similar vein to last year, his value will increase as he'll lose the 'one season wonder' tag. Could have far more suitors come the Jan window. Better for him and us.
  3. Sounds like we are playing ok but, not surprisingly, can't finish.
  4. If he's a real handful but can't hit a barn door, is that considered an upgrade on Gallagher 🤔
  5. Knowing Rovers they will move Pickering to cb for 'balance' and replace him with Brittain at left back to unbalance the balancing they'd done. A decent left back is a must - as well as a keeper, couple of wingers, a cm and another forward.
  6. Need some pace throughout the team now. Pickering is the slowest full back I've seen and Brittain isn't the quickest. Not had any genuine pace in wide areas for a while now - probably Khadra the last one. None through the centre since Rothwell The new Senagalese won't be quick and neither will the Japanese lad. Siggy, Hedges, Dolan all run through treacle.
  7. He's a defender that looks good when the team is on top but doesn't have the heart for a relegation battle. Tactically it's also likely we will be more direct this season which negates one of his 'main strengths' passing.
  8. Lets hope one is to replace Hyam. That bloke is the antonym of the leadership/resilience we apparently need.
  9. Can't be counted as a signing surely, given he was part of last year's squad. We've managed to retain a 37 yr old. Well done Rovers.
  10. This is the problem. Jack Vale is not good enough to lead the line in the Championship. End of. Yet, the longer the wait for a signing, the more people suggest that he may be ok. Waggott must be pissing himself.
  11. No idea. Hopefully long gone. Although you could argue Fleck &McFazdean shouldn't be viewed as new signings as they were part of the squad last year.
  12. Those kind of statements are careless from the manager. 'Really good players' to me means players that are proven or better than the league you are in. No chance any of that ilk arrive. He's upped expectations based on that. If they turn out to be a couple of league one frees, McFazdean, Fleck and a couple of kids from the continent, he loses any credibility he had.
  13. simply because its a signing 🤷🏻‍♂️. It's an incredibly low bar these days.
  14. The strategy has been clear for a while. Sign cheap 'experienced' free journey men to pad out the first team. Take low cost punts on several young players and throw them into the first team after a few months in the under 21s. If the young player is any good, he'll be sold to the first bidder. Aim is not to get relegated but they won't care if we do. its ok though because they reduced ST by £30 so what do people expect.
  15. Oh good. I like watching teams with good wingers. No excuses then. None of the players on show yesterday were fast or exciting wingers though. He may be in for a change of tactic.
