  1. Ben gets shoulder barged ref having none of it, ten seconds later one of their players gets shoulder barged and free kick given. Whether or not it's in the box shouldn't be relevant, a foul is a foul
  2. When Harvey Elliott becomes an England international experience of playing in this sort of team should stand him in good stead
  3. Twice in 30 seconds the midfielders in defence run forwards too far to try to make a challenge and then get caught out of position - first Johnson and then Buckley...
  4. For the goal they worked the ball right through our team until it was about six of their players running at our back four, completely bypassed the midfield. When I saw their player shaping to shoot I was relieved, I thought it was a mistake as he was miles out and they had the overload. I thought we had got away with one. Don't really think our centre backs could have done anything else. Shocking keeping.
  5. Buckley looks good on the ball going forwards, but he isn't a fullback. Trybull looks tidy as a defensive player but doesn't offer that much else. Bell is awful but I can kind of see why we play him - he is stretching their defence simply by being there and being fast. Dack is neat but not up to speed yet. Dolan and Brereton running at their defenders look the biggest threat.
  6. Bell is playing very far up the pitch so far, with Downing tucking in behind him to cover when he gets forward- it's an interesting set up.
  7. I'm logged into the player and have the stream 'playing', at the moment it's just a title card with the game info and kick off time. I assume coverage will start nearer to kick off.

  9. In the autumn of last year a lot of us (me included) were slating Armstrong, Brereton and Gallagher. Then Armstrong started scoring and the problem became Brereton and Gally. Then Brereton started this season in good form but Gally was a waste of space... Got to hold my had up and say it's looking increasingly like I was very wrong, and I'm pretty happy about it!
  10. Secondary school C team when they had an injury crisis. Centre half. The first XI took me along to an inter-schools tournament - I came third in the chess tournament that was happening on the same day, I think I was some kind of mascot.
  11. Thanks, that was bugging me. Must have imagined Portuguese because we bought Benni from Porto.
  12. Didn't we have a strike partnership that spoke portuguese to each other on the pitch (I want to say Benni McCarthy was one of them) on the grounds that the opposition wouldn't understand what they were saying to each other? Would having a German double pivot in Trybull and Holtby have the same effect?
  13. In my FM20 save I am managing in Croatia - Istra 1961. I picked up Dominic Samuel on a free after the first season when Rovers released him. He was appalling. Got about four goals in a season in the Croatian first division, where the general standard of footballer is probably about league 2.
  14. A team that finished above us by ten points last year came to Ewood to stifle, defend and nick a win. We're going in the right direction, and other teams know it.
  15. They changed the rules a while back so that all the clubs that trained a player are entitled to a (Very) small 'solidarity' payment when a player moves. A fraction of a percent, the idea being that a non-league team that produces a premier league player gets money over the course of the players career, depending on how many years the player was with them. No idea if that would apply in this case, but if it did we might get a couple of thousand quid.
  16. A pedant nit-picks whilst a pendant hangs his head two : one to Rovers
  17. goal difference matters in this league - we need to pick up goals where we have the chance, get a couple more lads...
  18. I feel better already.
  19. This is an odd one for me, I live not that far from Bournemouth so this should be one of the away matches that I would really look forward to. Instead I'm sat at home catching up on work and finding it difficult to work up much enthusiasm. I'm expecting to play one of the 'kids' in central defence - probably Magloire after the Leicester game - and for us to 'put on a good show' but lose by two or three, probably down to individual errors from the defenders. Then we will be told that there are 'a lot of positives' to take from the performance.
  20. Is it possible that some of this comes from the owners? As in they realised that they got taken for an absolute ride by Anderson etc. and are now over compensating and refusing to sanction signings with big agent pay offs? I mean I doubt they are as hands on as that, but I can see sending a missive from Pune saying 'no more agents' and the club just having to try and live with it.
  21. Don't particularly like the away kit, but watching the game it looks better on than I was expecting from the photos.
  22. Pressing well enough, decent energy but against much better opposition. Can't get on the ball for more than a couple of passes, and our forwards can't win a header when we ping it forward. Going to be a long game!
  23. yeah or that, but right now if you've got straws I'm clutching at them
