  3. Throughout this thread several posts have highlighted what was suggested by e.g. WATR. My view (again FWIW) is that (as @Parsonblue) highlighted - marking the league game closest to the anniversary is fine. Personally I think tacking on the extra match (especially in this form) is no more than paying lip-service to the idea of a celebration…it’s half-arsed. A pre-season friendly against say Athletic Bilbao would have been a great way to kick off (!) the celebratory season. The book in principle sounds great…but like many on here I fear for the quality/content & independence of the editorial. A special shirt again - sounds great, but I’ll keep my powder dry until I’ve actually seen it. In summary Chaddy - it’s less about the “what” but more about the “how” the club does things these days…
  4. I did 1988/90 before moving with work to Birmingham. Wormwood Scrubs on a Sunday morning was quite the thing!
  5. FWIW my take is that by tacking on a “celebratory match” of this dubious quality is symptomatic of the typically half-arsed efforts of the current regime who seem to know the price of everything & the value of nothing. The constant tinkering of the home kit to make it look more like a Grasshoppers or Feyenoord variant, the removal of the historic timeline outside Ewood, the shockingly bad 150th merchandise…the overwhelming sense is that nobody in charge cares enough. A match to celebrate the 150th…against a team that actually beat us in an FA Cup final…it just feels…shoddy.
  6. I’m guessing this was posted before half time…this was my prediction after 30 minutes…👀

  11. Join host Roger Whiteside and the panel of Ian Herbert, Rory Larmer & Rich Sharpe as they review September in the Rovers universe. Not much happened so the conversation should be brief...What? Oh... HERE'S THE PODCAST Part 1 - September started with a fine victory on the road at Watford, but was followed by the farce of the Ipswich abandonment, a wretched performance at The Valley and back-to-back winless performances at home. Is it still too early to panic? Will the players gel and performances become more consistent given time? Or should fans be bracing themselves for a long winter ahead? Part 2 - September Player of the Month - who's hot & who's not according to the BRFCS voters Part 3 - Any Other Business Lancashire Telegraph and Elliott Jackson barred from the ground - what on earth... 150th Anniversary match against Old Etonians - following the fixture against Derby County The new BRFCS Online Shop Sponsored by The Terrace Link to that college scarf "The 4000 Holes"

  16. We’ve been working hard in the background setting up this new channel for a while & we are delighted to announce that it is now live with two products initially, though many more will follow. If anyone has any specific ideas or requests for a tee shirts (within the bounds of being legal, decent, ethical etc…!) then feel free to drop a mail to media@brfcs.com & we’ll see what we can do…😉 The costs of running this site like many other things right now, seem to be growing month on month & so it’s vital that we look for new ways to generate income to cover our costs. Everyone who buys something in this store is helping us massively to keep the lights on & to come up with imaginative new features to develop & enhance the site. The SHOP is open - come & have a look around…👀⚪️🔵

  21. Tannoy: “We’ve waited 143 years for revenge…welcome to Ewood…Old Etonians and your very own…Blackburn Rovers…anyone…*taps mic* is this on?…hello…”
  22. As the poll inches towards its close, essentially I suspect that if you were old enough then Iley wins this hands down but it’s true that Ince squandered more resources.
  23. The 3.5 year contract was for the optics…”look at us, we’re backing this guy…he ain’t going anywhere so get used to him…”. It was a message to the players & the fans. I’d be amazed if that contract didn’t have fixed compensation clauses in it as opposed to “paying up the unexpired term”. But that said, if he is wiling to play the game, as was Kean, then realistically they won’t pot him as they’d then have to find another patsy. I’ve said it multiple times on here, as indeed have many others - this club isn’t about chasing on-field success. It’s about reducing costs.
