Am I right in thinking the Yorkshire Eminem is suspended (I'm t'slim shady...). Shame cos I reckon our boys might have made a point! As it is, they'll just have to concentrate on Plug (Rio) and Donkey

Philip - great post. I'm not an accountant but in my job have to make business cases. What sort of case do you think Hughesy would have to make in terms of the financial benefit of getting a European spot and a good cup run against the risk of say £5-6M on a good premiership class striker?

Can't see the 3rd home shirt? Is it just my browser?

[Archived] Mancs V Rovers Carling Cup Second Leg

With Bellamy so injury-prone and Dickov out I'm afraid Kuqi isn't good enough. Surely the club must realise we need some forward support now - we've had most of the possession but little of the threat -

Also blaming Sav for the incident even tho Horse fouled him and then Rio gave him a nudge on the way past into the tunnel. Pathetic -

Van Horse has just done 2 clear fouls and not been booked. The TV think Sav went after him in the tunnel and then all the players piled into the tunnel - unfortunately you can't see it on TV as it's covered at OT -

That is absolutely staggering. 25 English managers out of around 80 clubs? Isn't Mick McCarthy Irish, or did one of his grandparents have a pint of guiness once? Steve Cotterill 17th best!?! Shocking.

Ah - the dangers of assumption...! Yes, it's probably the Chester Road. I don't come that way but from memory you can go along the Chester Road until you get near OT (with all those Man U chippies on the left and a Ford dealership) and then turn right and that takes you down to the A5014 and the cricket club. Loads of car parks down there -

Well, I'm not sure about safe (as in with loads of Man U fans about!) but you can park at Lancy cricket club - I think it might cost a few bob though. Then it's about a half mile walk to the stadium. To do that you go all the way down the A56 (Bury New Road). The traffic will be bad anyway so the easiest route is to carry straight on into Manchester along Deansgate and out the other side along Bridgewater Way. Carry on and when you see a BMW/Mini showroom at a junction take the left onto the A5014 and follow the road. I think the cricket ground is signposted but it's on the A5014. I work around there at the moment and loads of the offices offer parking as well but the cricket ground seems well organised -

Depends - where do you want to park? -
Phillip I do think you are right and it's only a matter of time before they start looking for a new manager. Charlton and Bolton fans must be cacking it as I think both realise they owe much of their relative success to their respective managers.

I suspect because Utd "did" him with that tackle, got him booked and he just drifted out of the game - physcologically -
Generally happy with that. Thought the booking on Sav was unfortunate but he's only got himself to blame. It took him out of the game really. Unhappy with the inconsistency - in the second half I watched Stiles book Tugay after counting 4 fairly innocuous fouls, yet both Silvestre (why the long face) and Ronaldo (neck, what neck?) both committed a similar series of fouls in a similar timeframe and didn't get carded. With a bit of luck united will be over-confident in the second leg

Don't know if anyone has posted this nut read this here. The decriptions of Matteo and Kuqi are the work of a genius

Excellent report. A couple of points. Firstly, and selfishly, I'll be p*ssed off if me and the family are turfed out of the Blackburn End into the JW stand to fall asleep and get rained on. I know you are trying to create an atmosphere in the BBE but why not try to spread it around? Secondly, is there a link between changes in the Blackburn demographic and attendances - for example the disappearance of British Steel - did you research that? Thirdly, and something that has been brought home to me recently, immediatly after Xmas I simply cannot afford (time or money) to do a home prem match, an fa cup home match, a CC home semi followed by another home prem match in the space of a few weeks. So if they were to introduce a winter break - after xmas might be the time. Good luck

[Archived] Rovers 2-1 Portsmouth
RovertheHill replied to Neil Weaver's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
I put it down to the congested fixture list - he was clearly suffering from too many matches in a short period I thought Taylor from Pompey was pretty effective and might be worth a punt if they go down - right up until his taxi moment in our box! I was horrified at the sight of our left back last night. A fully fit and match sharp Matteo runs and turns slower than an HGV so imagine what he was like last night on his return from 6 weeks out. If you weren't there, put a Rovers DVD on and play at half speed... I never thought I'd say this but bring back Micky Gray -

To be fair, we got some good comments from pundits this weekend. John Gregory (who is sounding more like Jack Dee every day) said that we had to be taken seriously now. Chris Kamara was also very complimentary about our players and Mark Hughes. -
I don't wish injury on anyone, but from an England perspective this could be the perfect scenario - an enforced 2 month rest for Owen followed by 4-6 weeks getting match fitness and sharpness back should have him in prime form for the World Cup. Just need to hope nothing happens to Rooney now. From a Newcastle perspective this will either sink them or lead to some sort of mini-revival. Take Owen and Given out of that team so far and they would be not far from Sunderland. However, adversity has a way of bringing out the best in people so don't be surprised if they do okay

Feel a bit sorry for MGP. Against Fulham he scores a screamer only for Tugay to hit that volley. Then yesterday another screamer only for Reidy to howitzer one in. Seriously, if that was an Arse, Man U, Chelsea or Liverpool player all the Van Basten comparisons would be out -
