Seems like the once talented Tony Watt is now focused on reviewing films and streaming himself playing Fortnite - what a waste

I think that’s one of the only games I’ve missed

Spain disagree last night a perfectly good goal was disallowed before VAR allowed for the correct decision: I think if you looked at every incident in which it’s been used this World Cup the success rate would be somewhere between 80-90% depending on your view. The penalty last night was for me the first time a wrong decision has come from it although there’s a few instances where it could have been used but hasn’t. Maybe that’s not high enough and that’s certainly y up for debate but VAR absolutely irrefutably does work at least to an extent.

I won’t be sad to see it go, just think there’s potential if used right.

So I’ve said from the start that I think VAR has been good this tournament - that brings us to today, firstly Ronaldo penalty, good decision, red card - good decision, Iran penalty - shambolic. The problem that I see emerging is refs are using it as a safety net and constantly checking, the clear and obvious error line is being lost already. The tech could work but refs need to be stronger and better - but if they were then we would have never needed it. Used when appropriate this could work, as it is it’s far to prevelant and nearly every incident that half was referred. At the same time it just allowed a perfectly good goal for Spain that would have been ruled out otherwise.

Ok now that’s one that didn’t need reviewing he’s become a little too reliant this ref. Tricky game to ref as both teams have acted awfully around him Hes just given a penalty now to Iran that never was a penalty after reviewing VAR, user error that
-
What’s he got wrong? I’ve not seen anything obvious
-
Ronaldo booked after a VAR review, borderline one but I think the ref got it right, the fact a lot think it’s a red shows how much it’s still down to opinion no matter how many angles you see. VAR helps but it can’t make it all perfect
-
Oh come on it’s clearly a foul he’s cut across him and blocked him with his hip. Its a foul on the halfway line and a foul in the box. VAR still massively up in terms of correct decisions

Colombia look a team when they get going, their fans are insane they make an awesome racket

Great game Senegal and Japan neither deserved to lose, ended 2-2

Just got to the Christening do and got the tv sorted It’s actually coming home this time
-
I’m at a Christening at 12:45 - not sure how this happened the lad who’s son it is a huge footy fan as well. Having see us and Panama you would expect this to be as routine as they come but I suppose you never know. Start like we did against Tunisia and settle any nerves that could creep in.

I did think there was a slight hint at that, remember Dunn had a stint as a manager a few years back then was in our first team coaching squad and then assistant to the under 23s manager, he’s potentially gone the wrong way here. Thought for a while This may happen as his Twitter seemed to focus a fair bit on the building company. Good luck to him either way. -
Absolute football magic, the drama, the tension and then the pay off! Unreal stuff

Can people not tag themselves on Facebook? Probably someone did that

I think it’s quite possible, Mowbray mentioned he didn’t feel the hours put in were worth the reward and satisfaction of being an assistant under 23 manager -
One of my favourite goals of the tournament that Nigeria one, stonker
-
Don’t know much about this one but he seems well rated and young enough and will be a cheap addition so all looks decent on paper
-
Neymar - brilliant skill then a tap in a bit later. Gets so much stick even now commentator having a pop
-
Love it Brazil score in injury time
-
I was joking about Rhodes if that wasn’t obvious....

Not sure but Steve Waggott was refreshingly firm when asked about extending the deadline, he says it was mentioned to him but a flat no, with anything in life you get better deals early and it’s a choice you can make. -
I see the sense in everything he said last night, he said if we went out and did what Forest are doing splashing huge wages on big players then what about the players that are here; suddenly you have Bradley Dack on half the amount of the new guys. He would prefer to do things gradually and more naturally. He clearly has ambitions of getting promoted but I think realistically he thinks if you add 6 players this year and 4-5 end up mainstays of the first team and then next season add 3/4 more you could have a strong promotion challenge the season after. He spoke about winning this league before with Kevin Phillips and how you need a striker like him that you know will score when the ball gets to him, wonder if he’s heard of Jordan Rhodes ?
-
He didn’t speak too much about free transfers other than he’s fortunate to not have to be working just in that market. He sounded like he’s a huge fan of Travis, spoke about his passion for the game and joked that he makes him nervous cause he’s so determined even in training that he worries about him and Smallwood injuring each other! Definitely plans for him. Maybe a slight misquote, he did say he wants to bring in 6 or so players and players of quality and maybe Harry at this point wouldn’t be starting when we get to that point. Again he’s clearly a fan and would like him at his disposal but I think he wants to know that Chapman won’t be a nuisance if he finds himself out of the team. He obviously wants to see the desire in him to keep improving. All of this was just my interpretation as Mowbray was respectful and didn’t want to say too much about other teams players so spoke in broad terms
