  1. Makes the Buckley for Nyambe substitution in midweek look even more ridiculous now that Douglas starts there. Line up reeks of desperation but we all know what happens when Mowbray needs a result.
  2. The disparity in spending power was comparable though as player wages and transfer fees were relatively low. I'd also argue that the quality of player in this league was better back then as top league squads were smaller with only 13 in a matchday squad. Think back to 87/88, there were players like Sheringham, Pallister, McAllister, Newell, McCall, Sheridan all plying their trade at this level.
  3. Fully agree with those suggesting Bilic, Jokanovic, Wagner, Pearson, Hughes etc. Always said I'd like a Roy Keane style hurricane through that dressing room as it's been easy street for years but it's hard to ignore his recent failings. As a leftfield and probably more realistic suggestion, Derek Adams at Morecambe is doing an unbelievable job with very little. Also get the added bonus of him bringing the prodigal son home with him to solve our goalscoring issues, come on home Jordan Slew.
  4. Indeed. It riles me when I read 'older' fans on social media say this is as good as it gets. Under Smith, Kendall, Saxton and Mackay we always competed at the top end of the table and we didn't have a pot to piss in back then.
  5. If Buckley is the poster boy of the academy, there's no point having one.
  6. I reckon Liverpool have stipulated he plays if fit as part of the loan agreement.
  7. You're back!! I was thinking you'd been 'banned' again as I'd not seen any posts after the last two winless games.
  8. I can only assume you haven't read these points of view where any attempt at reasonable debate is shot down with laughing emojis and disparaging and insulting comment? At least on here there is an attempt at reasoning, on there it's support the manager at all costs with no question. There is some bloke on there (Peter John Brown, think he posts on here) who gets untold abuse for stating valid opinion. That's what gets me angry as well as the shift in opinion to suit the manager's shortcomings.
  9. I've noticed a shift in the attitudes on social media towards Mowbray. It has softened on us making the playoffs but now hardened towards this being our level and TM doing well to keep us here. Makes me so angry reading that shite.
  10. Early in the season our first thought when getting the ball was to pass forward, now we go safe and look sideways. If that's down to the players I question their bottle but also question the manager because he has to set the players' mindsets to being more positive. For me I think this change is led by the manager and his muddled thinking regarding possession stats. I've said it before and I'll say it again, dominating the ball is not the same as dominating the opposition.
  11. That might be correct but what Matt is driving at (I think) is that even Mowbray admits to knowing what's going wrong but does nothing to make it right.
  12. Shite result, no positives you can take from that game. We flick from stagnation to regression from game to game and will continue in that vein until the end of the season when we go full on regression.
  13. Paterson for Sheff Weds giving Douglas a run for his money for the worst on the pitch award.
  14. Really poor this. Yet again no Plan B when it's clear the sideways passing and possession isn't working. Can't for the life of me think what's happened to Holtby. Early in the season he was getting the ball on the half turn and playing quickly forward, it's sideways or backwards every time now.
  15. Sorry to bump this thread but I watched the David Dunn Undr the cosh podcast yesterday and had to wonder why there was no mention of K**n on there. Plenty on Venkys and other managers from his playing career but nothing on Uncle Fester. Bound by NDAs or getting 'real'?
  16. Good to see the quotes from thenodrog in point 2
  17. Thing is, before Mowbray was appointed I defy anybody to say they'd have been happy with him as manager.
  18. So firstly you rebutted some points of view last night by asking what tactics they would employ. Yet when an alternative is given you then say that can't happen because of a 'lack of training' and then in the next paragraph suggest a change of formation? Are you actually for real?
  19. 'The intensity was there' No Tony, it really wasn't.
  20. You don't like making direct comparisons yet you've confidently stated Mowbray is the best manager of the last decade. To come to that conclusion you would have to have direct comparisons to all of the managers in that period. You talk of Bowyer being a victim of his own success, what success was that? Mid table in this league is not success.
  21. Blimey, no way was mine worthy of 'hiding'? There was no malice in it just a reasoned enquiry!!
