  1. I was a striker and they shunted me into left back in a 2 man defence!!! They never asked me back.
  2. Always worried me that 20,000 grown men did that.
  3. Saved me a job there. 2 bruisers who can defend would do me. As long as they are able to play a 5 yard pass to a playmaker who can dictate a quick tempo I'm good with that.
  4. Are they reopening Martholme Grange?
  5. Koita was one of the least intelligent footballers I have ever seen. He has, however, gone on to score a few for Kasimpasa in the Turkish League this season.
  6. And when I play I look like a bit of a drongo, I try to defend but always get it wrong-o But I couldn't care less just look at the size of my schlong-o
  7. Just bought Ake from Bournemouth too, putting him further down the pecking order. I'd go further than you Merce, I don't think he makes it at PL level, he's too suspect defensively.
  8. All of Brentford's midfielders first thought is to go forward while we play through Downing who hasn't got that speed of movement any more. They press with great energy from the front and work unbelievably hard out of possession, we aren't well drilled or fit enough to execute that. Both full backs give width in the final third with a def mid (Norgaard) who shields their defensive position effectively. Travis could learn that but our full backs are appalling offensively. And finally, that front 3. Wow, movement, purpose, workrate and no little skill - all picked up for the cost of a Brereton.
  9. What a game this is, some superb football being played by Brentford.
  10. Noticed Alfie Mawson and Dennis Odoi only made the bench for Fulham last night. Both players would walk into our first team.
  11. Great goal that, Ayew is definitely better than Championship level. I feel for Brentford though, the ref has done them here, they'll want to get out just one behind rather then going for an equaliser.
  12. Just said to my son 10 minutes ago how the referee was having a shocker. That sending off there has just validated that - terrible decision.
  13. I'm really struggling with the point you are trying to make here. Sign Bauer cheaply, stay up, spend time in the play offs, borrow Tosin, spend roughly the same, stay up, briefly threaten the play offs but stay up regardless. Only with the former we'd have an asset, possibly a profitable one and there'd be less of a panic to plug a glaring hole. And that's before your subjective view that he's a better defender. Tosin is definitely a better 'footballer', not sure he's a better 'defender'.
  14. Captain Mowbray came 3rd at Cartmel earlier. Outpaced early on, made mistakes, not fluent 4 out and plugged on gamely without ever threatening.
  15. Looks like the 'abilities' of Del Williams are being overlooked, priming him as Lenihan's partner for the season with Carter and Wharton in reserve. You just know it's gonna happen.
  16. You basically said what we've all said - that he played well pre lockdown and poor post lockdown. Then you said we'd have to see how he performs 'next' season!! So, go on, form an opinion on whether we should give him a deal rather than waiting to agree with whatever the club decides.
  17. Like the brilliant Gary Delaney says, the word 'legend' is now demeaned to the point of returning home unexpectedly with crisps.
  18. Agreed on Downing. He has undoubted quality but on the rare occasions we look decent is when we move the ball quickly through midfield and Downing always seems to take that extra touch.
  19. Redrow's on the right as you drive to Barrow? Done plenty tyre kicking there.
  20. I don't know why I go on the Rovers FB pages. Just read a post saying 'our beloved Tony Mowbray'. Now I understand there are differing views on his competency in the role but that's giving him almost God-like status - and for what? Stability?
  21. That's triggered him, he'll actually have to go to them now.
  22. 3 year deal for Lowe, blimey, the class of 92 are going to be mightily pissed off when they realise what they've got for their money - the antithesis of the open attacking football they were once a part of. Anyone got the infamous Brentford clip where he bursts from midfield with intent but freezes and runs the ball out of play?
  23. So you flatly wouldn't take Dyche, who is the sole reason Burnley are successful but you're asking opinion on Hart who couldn't get a game for them?
  24. Game, shot AND the match to MarkBRFC
  25. I don't think we have any players that will be poached by Premier League teams, I'd be wary of the bigger Championship clubs though. I don't rate Armstrong as highly as some but he has improved markedly over the 2nd half of the season, there will be clubs interested in him. Lenihan is young but now experienced at this level, I'd be surprised if he's not courted and Nyambe's physicality could lead to a cheeky bid. I think Travis still has a lot to learn and his passing can be shocking on occasions, however, his attitude and will to win are spot on. I just hope he continues to progress here next season. As for incomings, well we'll be bringing in 5 or 6 Europeans won't we?
