Haven't been following German football much this year but have managed to catch a few games of this impressive Dortmund side. A win tonight against Koln has put them 15 points clear at the top of the Bundesliga. I remember the mid 90's when Dortmund were a force in Europe with the likes of Sammer, Riedle, Ricken and Moller which saw them win the Champions League in 97. This Dortmund side is stacked with young talent and from the games I've seen play some really nice football at times. In all areas of the pitch they have some serious talent. Subotic and Hummels in defense, Kagawa, Götze and Sahin in midfield and Lewandowski (remember being linked to him?) up front. If they can keep this core of young players in the summer its going to be interesting to see how they do in Europe next season. Anyone else seen them play this season?

Mention of what happened on Twitter: http://twitter.com/sambrydges Also there is some audio on there with Dave Whelan. Just been watching the video and reading the article on the LT website. Sounds like it was a fitting tribute and that he had a good send off.

Dave Whelan's tribute from the BBC Site: A former team-mate of Ronnie Clayton, Wigan chairman Dave Whelan paid tribute to Clayton, describing him as "Blackburn and England through-and-through". "It's such a shock and such a sad loss for Blackburn and the sporting world," Whelan told BBC Radio Lancashire. "He was the nicest man you could ever meet and to play behind him was a great privilege. He was the fittest person I have ever played with or seen in the whole of my life. "When we used to train every day, Ron and myself used to run from our training ground, which was two miles away from Ewood Park. We used to run and race each other back to the stadium and I could never beat him." http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/b/blackburn_rovers/9140892.stm

RIP Ronnie a true Rovers Legend. I never got to see him play (long before my time) but i have spoken to relatives who saw him in his pomp and they said he was a special player and a true gent. My heartfelt condolences go out to his family and friends especially Bryan.

Talk about a pairing of two former world class players, Hagi and Tugay. I hope it works out for them

I'm sure John's family were touched by the great support and the overall tribute shown by the fans and the club tonight, one moron won't change that.
-
Always going to get some morons, I've been to a few games that have had minutes of silence before a game and I've seen a few on the TV/heard on the radio and you very rarely get 100% silence. I was listening to Radio Lancs tonight and you could clearly hear abusive language from the guy with sh!t for brains, it was only brief and it was silent after it.

There is going to be a minute's silence before the game: Minutes silence for tragic Blackburn fan
-
My heartfelt condolences go out to the man's family and friends. Absolutely sickening what has happened. My heartfelt condolences also to Preston Blue for his loss.

I hope its not true and its just rumours. Certainly puts today's game well into the background if its true that someone has tragically lost their life. I also hope that these rumours about the bin are also untrue.

"This is a great club. The reason why I am happy that it has finally happened is because about five years ago I had a disappointing experience when I thought I was going to be a West Ham player until Porto pulled out and I had to go back. "I would have loved this to be my first Premier League club, I went to Blackburn instead but West Ham kept on pursuing me and eventually I am here." http://www.whufc.com/articles/20100201/mccarthy-a-happy-hammer_2236884_1951301 Good riddance Benni! -

A winger would be nice, Bentley would be ideal but it will never happen. Kalinic would be banging the goals in with Bentley putting the crosses in imo. I'm just concerned that if Niko is out then it means we have to rely on Roberts or Franco. Roberts is an impact sub at best not a starter and there are a lot of question marks over Franco. -

I can understand why as he favours this lone striker formation with a 5 man midfield. Its risky though as Franco doesn't look like scoring, Roberts is a donkey and the only dangerous striker we have Kalinic. If Niko gets injured then we could be in trouble. -

Sam's comments on SSN went something like this: Allardyce- ' One or two things to iron out at West Ham's end. Should be complete within the next 48 hours' Reporter- ' So it would be fair to say he won't feature on Saturday ?' Allardyce- 'That would be fair, yes'
