  1. Ovie Ejaria anyone? Not wanted by Reading- young, lost his way, bags of potential. Fits the mould. I’d be all over this.
  2. He isn’t going to be living in a sh*thole area so your point is irrelevant.
  3. Cheshire is actually a nice place to live.
  4. Wouldn’t be happy with 8 million but it is what it is, can’t really doing anything with both hands tied behind your back. Can’t see is personally, just become a father, would he really uproot straight away to Spain with a new born? More likely to leave in the summer for free when things have settled down at home abit.
  5. Bang on the money. This is the only solution for the club.
  6. Of course it’s different. 1st year we got relegated we bought players who were established/ high earners. Didn’t get us anywhere with the nameless man in charge. The donkey from down the road was the same- didn’t focus on youth. infant I can’t think of a manager we have had since Mowbray/JDT who bought young players with re sale value and developed them. that’s a clear change in plan.
  7. 100% agree. I would sell now and reinvest. problem being is I think Ben wants a move to Spain and they will get him for free. Don’t think he fancies playing for a potential relegated team in the prem.
  8. We haven’t, it’s been 4-5 years of an outline of a plan without the correct staff/ systems in place.
  9. I don’t think anyone doesn’t want promotion. You can’t just chuck £££ at it though. What happens then if we don’t get promoted? FFP strikes and we and get penalised resulting in transfer embargos and points deductions.
  10. So what’s the solution? Protesting has been done, didn’t have any effect. The owners are not going anywhere so I choose to be positive and hope that change does occur. It’s either that or stay in a rut of negativity.
  11. My own thoughts are that we haven’t had any direction for the first 5 years. Only started to get a direction of where we wanted to go when Mowbray came in. He talked all the time about developing players and selling them on, he had the right idea but didn’t have the tools to do it. Since he’s gone and we have recruited the sporting director who has started implementing the “plan” I hope things start to improve both on and off the pitch. the way I see things playing out. 1st season - they see this as a free hit, no one expects us to get promoted rightly or wrongly. 2nd season - gain the consistency this season has not offered and be in and around the top six. 3rd season - in the playoffs/ promoted. 4 season - same as above. JDT will be given time and if he doesn’t reach the targets set in the future, then he needs to be removed and a new coach replaces with the same philosophy and ideas as the plan.
  12. I’ve got to give him the benefit of the doubt. His words might be hollow but that’s the only thing I/we have to go off currently.
  13. A lot, so that’s goes to show you can do all the scouting in the world but sometimes they just don’t fit. I’m sure we scouted and got all the data on hirst but for whatever reason he didn’t fit the club/ team - it happens.
  14. Got to be in it to win it 👍 from what I’m gathering this is a plan over 4-5 years.
  15. I think there is a plan, don’t think it has come from the owners. They just want to stop leaking money. Only way to do that is to become sustainable. Could say the same when Chelsea bought Lukaku back for 90 million and he’s was terrible.
  16. I agree it does need to be a blend. Once the development players get developed they won’t be development players. The club is actually pursuing it. It’s a long term goal.
  17. that’s when you reinvest the money back into squad. Not all the money but some of it in order to buy equally good young players. we have the system in place now? The recruitment department is fully staffed.
  18. Got to dream big, why not? we don’t have the cash to buy our way out of the championship, only way to do it is to develop young players thus developing the team and then if you get a big offer re invest some of that money into the team. Yea the reinvestment part hasn’t happened previously but I’m hoping moving forward, a decent sum from a player will be reinvested back into the squad.
  19. Could be blind optimism yet 😂
  20. For once I actually like the plan. to become a sustainable premier league club. takes time but would/will be fantastic if Broughton can pull it off.
  21. It’s not, not immediately. Once you develop the said 18/19/20 year olds. Then you stand a chance.
  22. I don’t have ultimate faith. Just glad there is what seems a plan in place and we are working towards that. Got to have a plan in place otherwise we will get no where.
  23. Every recruitment team gets it’s wrong sometimes. Even the best teams in the world. Now we have a fully staffed recruitment team in post, I would like to think we will get most transfers correct - will never be 100%. he’s working from the owners strategic plan. To be a sustainable premiership club. You are only getting that through using the academy that we will be paying soon around 4 million for per year and buying young players to develop. Cant be buying established players unfortunately unless we get a bargain and the players come from a club who don’t pay a lot (Hyam)
  24. He’s had clear progression within his career. Head of Academy recruitment Academy manager Academy director Holds both UEFA pro licence and Football Association Technical Director qualifications. Natural progression would be to take a sporting director role. He’s fully qualified to do the job.
  25. He’s been in the post just over 6 months, is the head of several departments within Rovers. How can you judge his performance in such a short space of time? I like what’s he done so far and think given more time will be a great asset for the club.
