The OTT reaction on here is insane. We are 5 games in, one of only 3 teams to have won 3 games and currently sit in 4th. Reading the board I can already see the tide turning against GB and JDT. We need some new players, we will get new players. Patience is severely lacking on this message board.

He’s my take on the need for transfers. If anyone thinks that GB is sat on his hands doing absolutely nothing, you are wrong. We are fishing in a very small pond of players that we could potentially recruit. We need to stay within our wage structure which more or less rules out premiership players who are not in current squads. That leaves us with league one and below or potentially players from abroad (with the brexit rules it makes it extremely hard to sign these players.) Say we have 6 million to sign 4-5 players. We need to try and stretch this to accommodate the need for quality rather than just get bodies through the door. Championship teams will want a premium for their players. There isn’t just a plethora of quality players that teams are willing to let leave their squad that we can afford. Now Is the business end of the transfer window so I suspect we will see things moving in the next 2 weeks. Teams will sell players cheaper now to accommodate new players or to raise funds. This is just the way it works. Do we need new players now? Absolutely. Would I prefer to wait and get the quality than just bodies through the door because are squad is thin. Yes. I am confident within the next 2 weeks we will have good quality players incoming that will make the squad better. Patience is required.

I suppose he does have a good relationship with the lads and if it was just that I wouldn’t think anything of it. Add everything together and it’s makes me think something is happening.

Maybe just a coincidence, just seen on twitter JP’s brother wearing a Rovers shirt. Add this to him not being in the Brighton squad for their friendly and JPH commenting on Travis instagram plus Buckley liking comments about JP coming back to Rovers…. Looks to me like somethings happening.

It’s not been awful. We have had majority of possession, just the final ball letting us down. Good- Hedges, Travis and Phillips. Adam Wharton is showing his inexperience, 2 or 3 times he’s lost the ball in dangerous positions, if we were playing championship standard would of been punished. Dack- can still see the quality but clearly lacking match fitness and rusty. Dolan - ineffective but is a pressing machine. Diaz- done nothing of note. Pickering and Carter have both done OK, not a lot of threat going forward but defensively fine. Need to sort out the offsides been caught 4 or 5 times now. Can see the press in action that JDT wants but need to press more as a team rather than individuals. Ash Phillips is going to be a top 6 centre half when’s he older. Calm, strong and plays balls through the lines, quality player.

It’s being realistic. We can’t compete financially with half the championship now, it’s about biding your time and waiting for the right deals. We as a club could go and sign 3 players tomorrow but if there no better or don’t fit into the system we want to play, what’s the point? Barnsley and Luton are an anomaly. That’s why they don’t and won’t repeat it. Correct, hence the change of direction with a DOF and Head Coach.

100%. Makes it 10x harder. Got to make sure you identify players that can fit seamlessly into a system you play. I don’t buy Mowbray's old comments on players need to learn how we play waffle.

I’m going on the assumption that JDT has been made promises and these will be fulfilled. Why would you take a job at the start of your managerial career when you know you will have both your hands tied behind your back? Wouldn’t make sense. Now if Venkys don’t deliver on said promises, I guarantee JDT will be short lived.

In an ideal world we’d have the quality through the door before pre season. With our limited resources it’s impossible. I don’t believe the management team has failed to identify the right targets. I believe the players we are after are good players that teams at this present time are reluctant to let go of. We have got to play the waiting game. it’s an impossible scenario for the club.

We haven’t got the cash to do that? We don’t have parachute payments to be able to get quality in quickly, it takes time. it’s not accepting a shit-show it’s understanding how a transfer window works.

The hysteria on here is mental. Im coming from the view point that we are actually after quality players, which takes time (unless you have buckets of money.) Players prices drop towards the end of the window, more players become available. I’d rather hang tight then be snapping up bang average players because we have lost a few 1st teamers. We have enough in the squad currently to get some good results before the transfer window closes. Yes I’d love us to sign players early, have a full pre season, integrate them into the squad but it’s not viable when every penny counts. Relax, enjoy the sunshine 😘
