v Rotherham Utd (h) - 1/1/24

Not many clubs were you watch a game and can realistically hammer the entire structure of the club. 1st goal is calamitous from GB's recommended signing. 2nd goal needs the coaching staff to work on defending. After the game the manager quite rightly goes after the owners for letting the club drown. To be a Rovers fan! -

We are fighting with one arm tied behind our back now with this lad in goal. The opponents know they can put an aimless ball in the box and stand a good chance of scoring. It just cannot be allowed to be a tactic for your opponent at this level! -

Whilst it would be nigh on impossible to get true statistics, I struggle to think there are many more clubs that allow opponents to break their bad runs than us! -

It's just yet another game were we are seeing the same mistakes, followed by the same tactics by the opposition (GIVE BLACKBURN THE BALL), followed by the same inevitable results. Followed by the opposition manager saying we are a good team, followed by our manager admitting we made the same mistakes and have injuries, a young squad and no money. Its all just abit meh, rinse and repeat. -

Everything in me wants to pan the manager, I honestly don't know what he can do differently with the players available. We can't really change much and a well drilled team will know just how to play against us. Having absolutely no back up means teams can quite easily set up a team to counter our obvious line up. What JDT needs to do is toughen up the mentality of the group, not sure if that's possible? We cannot continually go one down and have no plan to counter it. One thing that JDT has to carry though is we have fallen behind to teams of the calibre of Sheff Wed and Huddersfield and nobody is shocked we capitulated, he must carry some of that blame. -

Am I honestly so crazy to think we might have given them some sort of game today? Injuries, Venkys, JDTs stubborn style aside, am I honestly so crazy to expect us to have given them some sort of game?!? -

The owners and club in general are heading one way with the supporters very soon. Absolute apathy! You lot aren't arsed so why should we be. -

I just have no words this. I've given so much slack for injuries etc. We are just a gift to all opponents. I'm getting sick at watching us just get slapped about by anyone who fancies the 3 points. -

Maybe not, but will give us damn more chance of holding onto a game. A game yesterday that we were well entitled to take a point from. -

Book one page one of goalkeeping is surely don't palm the ball into the centre of your six yard box when making a save, so surely the Leo should be disappointed. Although I agree he was very good for the rest of the game. -

Held on way longer than expected. Fair do's to the players and coaching staff. I say we held on longer than expected as I knew the bench would be needed but was so far from Championship ready I almost felt sorry for them. Fuck off Venkys! -
The single worst part of Venkys ownership. Fan vs Fan.

The only reducing of this clubs carbon footprint will the lack of exhaust fumes from supporters cars as no bugger will be going!

Passing it back and forth to each other seems to be most managers wish these days! -
Whilst the future is quite clearly digital for any ticketed events, I mean I haven't got onto a plane, been to a gig or day out with a physical ticket for some time. You cannot go against your long term selling methods without a PHASED change over period at something like a football club. I've had a bit of a browse and a few teams seem to either be fully digital now or heading that way. Boro are in the process and from what I can gather from their site it is a very slow process which is doing its best not to leave anybody behind. Waggott and Co have inexplicably decided to do it mid-season, in full, with from what I can gather no exceptions. Haven't we recently updated our I.T systems? I've got no clue about I.T but could this be to allow a future of self ticketing?
-
Are any clubs digital tickets only yet? I'm just wondering if Stupid Steve has seen that some other club in the country has gone digital only and he can see the pounds saved by closing down the majority of its ticketing team. It wouldn't surprise me!

cesus replied to NeilInBristol's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
My issue yesterday was the lack of changes, I've rarely in all my time of watching football seen a group of players react to a final whistle like our players did on Tuesday. They were completely done. I certainly wouldn't have had an issue with Sammie, A. Wharton and Tronstad sitting on the bench for Trav, Garrett and Leonard yesterday, it was a tough enough game before a ball was kicked. -

Buckley is looking like being out injured long term, as of yesterday. -

Yes, Leonard definitely one. Pretty sure the other was Garrett. I'm still fuming about Brittain now. Gives himself a nice rest whilst he team mates are exhausted, which is nice for him. -

Brittain hung his team mates out to dry. Absolutely shattered team mates already chasing shadows and does that to them. It was a hard watch, I was surprised to not see any fresh legs starting in a team that was dying come the 90th minute on Tuesday. 2-0 would have been a dream to be honest, 4-0 was right. Having the ball 30 yards from our goal and having no pass available forwards was just awful to view, no wonder Sammie was livid! -

We are kinda used to playing like this. Southampton abit like Burnley away last year must be thinking "are this lot trying to be this crap"!?! -

I will never for the life of me know how a goalkeeper can be on the wrong side of the opponent off a corner. Jeeez! -

Good win, ropey performance, stomach in knots for the last 20 minutes, so how very Rovers. Tronstad, Leo and Siggy deserve lots of praise. As much as they seemed to turn it on from their goal, I think it was more of a case we fatigued at a greater rate than any other game this season. Which is completely understandable given the game time most of these players have had. One observation I had about the subs was the difference between Garrett and Trav, you would never have guessed which was the club captain and which was the lad finding his feet in the Pro game. Garrett was cool and confident on the ball and Trav was like a bull in a China shop with all that he did, he is so cumbersome! -

It's ultimately just another game were I come away with 2 opinions. The first and most relevant is those players are literally going above and beyond despite the way that the club is being run. Most clubs would not be able to take 8+ regular first team players unavailable but we are doing it with an already weak squad. Point 2 is my more critical one were I think ultimately we haven't landed a glove on them. Making allowances for point 1 it's harsh, but it's another team that has come to Ewood and not really had to kill themselves to leave with the 3 points. It hurts losing at home.
