Of course not, they can get better elsewhere obviously be it financially or in footballing terms. If we want to keep them we offer the best we can, I would hope. As a club losing vast sums annually it would seem others can offer better deals financially. -

I don't know, neither do you. What I'm saying is that we both agree the model of improving and selling is the only way forward. So I'm as flummoxed as you as to why we don't sell the players before their contracts run down. Which leads me to think we don't get offers! -

I'm struggling here with what you think happens? We sign player X on a 4 year deal and turn down offers in years 1,2,3 so they can leave for free? Then in year 4 we offer them reduced terms to guaranteethey leave for free? The players haven't performed well enough consistently to earn a paid move, be that the player or managers fault. -

I must just be imagining we lose £350-400k per week. We have a ceiling of what we can offer players, if they can get better elsewhere off they pop. Unfortunately until this season the players have not played to the quality that has commanded a fee, as surely our model is to sell rather than lose for nothing. -

We literally sold our training ground to our owners a few months ago to save ourselves from going into one. We haven't sold a player, started gaining 30k weekly crowds or gained a huge new sponsor infact our sponsorship collapsed last week. So yes I very much think we are in transfer embargo territory in the near future. -

Great post, completely fair on all parties. We have absolutely no idea what has gone on behind closed doors, the tapping up rule is not followed by any agent, so as soon as we make an offer the shithouse agents set to work and fill a players head with their "worth". Let's not forget whilst we are in a great position in the league we are also staring down the barrel of a transfer embargo too. We clearly can't offer as much in wages as a lot of clubs. -

A few people in this thread about the page 250 mark. I'd be staggered if it was that figure! -

From the TM interview he was clear Rothwell goes on our (the owners) terms, in line that WE source replacements first. The owners have been stubborn buggers from day one, against us and certainly against people trying to buy our players. To be fair to the player he hasn't asked to stay at home today, Mowbray felt it would be a tough game and him having a stinker could reflect badly. £6m does seem extremely high for somebody with only 6 months left, if the right replacements are in place it suits all. If we don't have the replacements in place £6m is worthless with all the injuries we have in play and the great chance we have this season to go up. -
v Middlesbrough (h) - 24/1/22

As Tim Flowers once said after a game at Ewood. We have "BOTTLE" -
The commentary team mentioning Eaves lack of goals early in the game was like a dagger to the heart of any Rovers fan ... you knew it was going to happen!
-
Calm thinking (after a sleep) can allow me to think that was just an awful night at the office. So many things we already knew all came true with regards to a small squad - No way that first goal goes in as Travis tracks him if fit. JRC with his injuries must be nursed in but desperation forced him in and he had a stinker. Gallagher cannot play the wing and hopefully this game FINALLY ends the idea he can. Added to that the ref got every major decision wrong and it all adds up to an awful night. Hopefully Boro are abit more expansive and allow our danger men in Khadra and Rothwell space to run at them and Trav and Nyambe to return.
-
Just one of those games, we didn't get going but more than happy to finish with a point and a clean sheet. The back 3 look so comfortable, after years of giving away awful goals it gives me as much satisfaction as the league position!
-
Change will only happen when the TV channels start kicking off when they keep losing their live content. At the moment only the fans are pissed off so the leagues have nothing to be worried about.
-
There is a risk stepping out of your front door when it comes to Covid, but surely a reasonable process would be 5pm testing the day before then players isolate at home until going to the ground. You cannot run tests 3 hours before kick when your job involves 10's of thousands of people attending.

v Sheff Utd (h) - 6/11/21 - 146th Birthday
cesus replied to rog of the rovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
After conceding so early with a huge away following and what happened on Wednesday I thought it was going to be a party for them. All I could think was Fulham mercilessly battered us, this lot will take the piss. Absolutely delighted with the character shown by so many of the players. I don't think I will get over Wednesday as long as Mowbray is manager but I enjoyed this game. -
v Fulham (h) - 3/11/2021

It's a surprise more teams haven't tried this more often, as our left backs help is most often a striker playing left wing! -
v Fulham (h) - 3/11/2021
cesus replied to CambridgeRover's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Why should I care, by the end of this morning Mowbray will still have a job. Venkys will have been bamboozled by Waggott that Fulham are some footballing version of the Harlem Globetrotters. A smaller but very concerning fact for the club after that performance is only freebies for schools and guests kept the attendance above 8k. Nothing will change as nobody at the club in power cares. -
Attendances: A cause for concern
cesus replied to SIMON GARNERS 194's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Completely agree with this. I think there has to be some acceptance from Waggott that people will not continue to blindly support Mowbray or Venkys continued running down of the club. What would have me worried about attendances if I was Waggott would be this is probably the "easiest" Rovers team to back in years. Plenty of academy players, no player that all fans love to hate, nobody who isn't trying. The actual squad is rather likeable when you consider we've had the likes of Orr, Best, Murphy in the past. -
v Derby (a) - 30/10/2021
cesus replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Absolutely delighted with the win. Whatever happens with the owners, Mowbray or anything this is why we put up with it all, win then enjoy a beer. Awesome first half, then Derby didn't really do masses in the second but we seemed scared to put a foot on the ball. Although Derby had lots of the ball I still wouldn't say it was "backs to the wall" barring injury time to be honest. We simply ran out of bodies towards the end, so absolutely fair does to the boys for holding out. The subs looked like rabbits in headlights unfortunately! -
Brockhall STC - planning permission application ?
cesus replied to Mattyblue's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
There appears to be some land for sale on rightmove right next door to "our"/Venkys Brockhall training facility. There are a few plots worth around £5m for all of them but I don't know how the size/planning permissions relate in relation to Brockhalls size. The plots equate to 135 acres. https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/114174563#/?channel=COM_BUY -
Brockhall STC - planning permission application ?
cesus replied to Mattyblue's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Does this change of ownership make the training ground easier to sell or is it a FFP accounting exercise? I can't say I like the thought of any club assets being owned by third parties, it tends to be money today and a headache soon after. -
No positives at all on the pitch, a few individual alarm bells rang too - Clarkson : if he had a night of good touches and passing but was out muscled I'd take the positives. What I saw was a lad that looked so far out of his depth he couldn't even compose himself to pass correctly. Kaminski: if he had a half decent game I'd take that as a positive but he didn't, his positioning was all over as was his distribution. The goal is really poor as that was the only place the ball could have gone and he just stood there. Butterworth : from what I've seen he needs a full fitness regime starting with our fitness coaches, he looked shot by half time. Until he achieves that no amount of quality will see beyond his lack of cardio. Van Hecke : the lad takes so many wild hacks at the ball and is really asking for trouble with all his holding. Can see him giving away a few pens. MOWBRAY IS SO CONFIDENT IN HIS POSITION HE IS CLEARLY JUST LAUGHING AT US FANS NOW!!!

2 games running the opposition put their foot down just a tiny amount and we had absolutely no idea what to do. In the second half I lost count of how many times our strikers were at full back and how many times our full backs were at centre forward. Nobody has the slightest clue what they are doing, the only thing that seems to be drilled is to let people shoot unopposed from outside our box
