  1. Maybe you can answer a question I've long wondered about our ownership and the "debt", do the owners just service the debt like an overdraft? I mean say the "overdraft" is £200m, do they for the ease of maths just pay 5% annually/£10m of the total debt or have they literally handed over the whole £200m of their own money.
  2. In this squad, I'd argue they are. This squad is awful, yet the optics don't look good for it being improved significantly. I'm basing my point on today not on how strong I believe we should be.
  3. At what point do we get scared at the thought of letting Gallagher and Dolan go this summer, due to having no faith in getting adequate replacements? *I'm not a million miles away!
  4. Leo's exit is the best move for everybody, I'm quite surprised we managed to get our cash back on him. Watching him absolutely demoralised at the end reminded me of Jake Kean and that was no good for either party.
  5. 100% agree. I think Waggott would even struggle to spin a yarn to defend the owners here. The taps would appear to be 100% turned off in India.
  6. Elliott Jackson from the LT now reporting this on twitter .... he owes you a pint!
  7. The game is being sanitised to a level that a goal scored isn't being celebrated with the vigour in the crowd that it should be, that is a fundamental failing in the system, football above all else is in the entertainment industry. The system should only be used for howlers, for me the disallowed goal and penalty are howlers BECAUSE of technology. Bringing in technology for 2mm of boot being offside is not needed, goals are entertaining and change games. If offside isn't obvious (clear and obvious remember) then give the damn goal.
  8. After two games I didn't think we could get much worse. I don't think we will be getting much better. Try carrying the ball forwards to make some room please!!
  9. I always thought the rule was a penalty taker cannot come to a complete stop. I agree it seems very harsh on a keeper not to move off the line when a taker can stop.
  10. I'm pretty sure that sort of sponsor is against FFP itself. It's been tried elsewhere to pump money into the club, our owners clearly didn't fancy it before it was against the rules.
  11. You do remember just how bad we were the second half of last season? I think it's perfectly fair that people are concerned we have done no business yet. That squad needed some huge changes and time with new team mates and coaches to hit the ground running next season.
  12. The true decline in our owners reign is shining through right now, we expect to sell players to fund the base costs of the club. Football is a mad business and it's a licence to lose money, but hell even with this lot I never thought the day would come when paying the bills was seen as not in their remit.
  13. There will never be more self generated funds in the club as there is this summer. I have no reason to doubt you but If they are the types of signings being made then I think I'm done.
  14. My concern with the contract extension is when he originally signed we had no budget and was in need of an experienced head, he ticked that box. Going forwards it worries me that he still is seen as a viable option when we should be looking to improve our defence. Spending his wage money on a younger player with experience should be the approach and a scouting structure should easily be able to do that.
  15. I genuinely thought it would be impossible to have so many creative players and relatively create nothing.
  16. I'm desperately seeking any comfort I can from Adam Wharton not being here and the only thing I can slightly grasp is that our academy is rightfully getting some attention. Had Wharton made the England squad this time next year, Rovers would have been conveniently forgotten and his rise would have purely been attached to Palace. That's all I've got ... I'm off to sulk!
  17. Pictures of that face should come with a warning a few comments before hand. Like a "some viewers may find this offensive" warning.
  18. I think he would have taken a lump from Sheff Utd and we would have picked up the rest. Rather like those early Championship days for us, when we had millions a year in our wage outgoings in our accounts that were for players that hadn't been at the club for ages.
  19. It's an educated guess I'd say. He has always looked quite pissed off to be here.
  20. I don't think we would see Hyam sign a new contract so we really do need to sell. According to the LT article we don't have a year option on him unlike others, selling now is the only option to avoid him joining the long list of players walking for nothing.
  21. I'm pretty sure something went to vote for the whole of the EFL about compensation being reduced a few years ago. Most clubs in the EFL don't have CAT 1 academies so jumped at a "cash now bonus". Clubs like us are being strung up by the gonads due to it. The caveats being placed on the EFL clubs for the solidarity payments is beyond a joke.
  22. Bayern must have really enjoyed the documentary of the championship season, this season was a calamity.
  23. I don't rate Gallagher at all and wouldn't have renewed his contract but can we park this "should have sold to Ipswich" stuff. We literally finished a huge chunk of the season with him as our only striker. We sold a player for £20m and invested zero back into the team, I have no confidence Gallagher's exit would have benefitted the team in any way whatsoever. Gallagher's January exit would have just gone into the bills jar.
  24. I thought exactly the same, as we all very much know. The nameless are the stumbling blocks to our growth.
