  1. It was a weird week that one and Lowe/the players managed to motivate them through that. Those two games are two of the four league games we have won since 14th December. The other two against Preston and Portsmouth could have gone differently with different referees. I agree that Ismael probably isn’t the man for the job but it’s harsh to write him off after four games with a squad of players who have been poor for months. I was pretty convinced Eustace was the wrong man for the job after his first four games and even more convinced after seven or eight games
  2. I agree. He probably isn’t the right man for the job but the players have been poor for a while barring those “galvanised” first two games under Lowe. Have the performances this week been any worse than QPR away (Eustace’s last game) and Swansea away (Lowe’s last game)?
  3. How worried would we be now without those two wins under Lowe?!
  4. Baker running the midfield tonight is what Venky’s deserved. Eustace wanted him in the summer, he was out of favour at Stoke but instead of just signing him, we messed about with a loan
  5. Re priority signings: I don’t think there’s much point getting left back cover in on loan on transfer deadline day. That was something we needed 1st January due to Pickering’s injury but it’s almost too late now
  6. For reasons previously mentioned by others, BBD probably wouldn’t come but he’s exactly the type of player we need. It is OK having strikers who don’t score as long as your wide forwards chip in and that is where a lot of teams get most of their goals. I wouldn’t mind Ohashi in the middle with BBD on the left and ACD on the right. The main problem then would be the number 10 role where we need more goals than Cantwell is currently providing
  7. Ok another note: this loyalty points system has so far been useless for non season ticket holders. I’m on just over 100 points but every away game is 290 points followed by 240 points followed by general sale
  8. Who was the last former or current rovers player to score for England before tonight?
  9. This could possibly be a thread on its own but are away games unofficialy “sit where you want?” When I first started going away in the early noughties, people generally took their allocated seat, although sometimes stewards would say “sit where you want” if we’d only sold around 60% of the allocation. Nowadays, some people seem to have the view that away games are always “sit where you want” whilst others are quite angry about someone being in their seat. I’ve had it at a few games where someone is in my seat refusing to move so I go to another empty seat where someone then gets really arsey because I’m in their seat. i understand that no one actually “sits” at away games but personally I like to stand in the seat I’ve been allocated. So for those of you going today: will you head to your allocated seat or just go where you want?
  10. We’re currently 7/1 to go down with Skybet. I don’t think they realise how likely it is that Jake Batty and James Edmondson are starting games by November
  11. I may not be understanding football accounts probably but it wouldn’t surprise me for the delays in signing the Nantes lad, Fadz, etc to be so that their contracts start on 1st August and they therefore don’t need paying for July
  12. The riverside thing is a bit strange. I may be tempted if I could guarantee a £300 season ticket but would rather be in the Blackburn end if I don’t get my £49 refund in the ballot. Anyone know if you can tick a box to say I don’t want a ticket in this end if I’m unsuccessful in the ballot? I assume not
  13. Will the game be available to purchase on RoversTV with it not being Saturday 3pm?
  14. I think he’s trying not to handle it and give them an indirect free kick. That’s the worst decision making he’s made all day when he doesn’t just get palm it away
  15. He wasn’t the reason we lost last night but Bobby Madley was taken off the Birmingham game and put on ours at the last minute because he supports Huddersfield who are a relegation rival of Birmingham’s. Doesn’t seem to make sense to then give him to another relegation candidate https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/key-birmingham-city-v-cardiff-28969709.amp
  16. The QPR winner yesterday is the sort of thing Eustace’s rovers would never be brave enough to get (see Hyam calming the fans down in injury time vs Millwall). It’s the 92nd minute, they’re drawing 1-1 in a massive relegation six pointer, the centre back goes up field for the goalkeeper’s kick to get a winner
  17. Football is a game often decided by the odd goal. For that reason you can’t have your goalkeeper throw in as many goals as both of ours have this season. We are a poor team but would easily have enough points to survive with an average championship goalkeeper
  18. The issue with games like yesterday and Birmingham away, is that we have still conceded as many chances as we regularly would under JDT but without the attacking prowress. The only “it wouldn’t have been any better under JDT” argument I have is how bad the QPR game was. Otherwise, like many I feel we would have lost a few but won a few during this run under JDT and had more points.
  19. Anyone know how to actually start a roverstv game on a windows pc? It used to be obvious but despite me purchasing it I can only watch it live on my iPhone app at the moment
  20. The worrying thing is that the relegation form actually started in March. We’ve been struggling to average a point a game for the last 20 games. To be upbeat, onlookers often ask if we would have been happier with the last two seasons had the form being reversed I.E start poorly and have a strong end which results in just missing out in the playoffs. Maybe we’ll find out
  21. Yes. If we carry in playing the same way and letting the opposition have 20+ shots a game whilst he says the tactics are fine then that is Mowbray style stubbornness
  22. I agree with this as a formation. The wide players in the front 3 are generally our weakness and not as effective in their position as some of the players on the bench (mainly JRC) could be in their’s
  23. So many poor signings under successive managers. Our academy has really saved us in that aspect
  24. We’re 4/1 to win at Ipswich on Saturday. I don’t normally bet on Rovers but that seems good value considering how many chances we are creating home and away. Ipswich are great on the counter attack though. I’m quite intrigued by next week’s Carabao cup game. A chance to see if a few of the new signings have much about them
  25. It’s not really the defenders’ fault. The style of football leaves us very open when a team counter attack. A different manager would have the same defence set up to have games end 1-0 either way. Pros and cons to both approaches
